So Vanguard has 5 different eras.
    1. The OG series had 4 seasons known as Just "Vanguard", "Asia Circuit", "Link Joker", and "Legion Mate"
    2. Next we had Vanguard G which was a sequel series to the OG series, similar to yugioh gx, where its the same universe just with new protagonist characters that last 5 seasons known as "Vanguard G", "Girs Crisis", "Stride Gate", "G Next" and "GZ".
    3. After that we had the V series which is an adaptation of the vanguard manga rather more of their own story, similar to fullmetal alchemist and FMA Brotherhood, and last 5 seasons. The first 3 seasons were known as "Vanguard V" "High School Arc" and "Koushin Arc". Then we had 2 spin off series of the V era. The first 1 was a prequel known as "Shinemon" which focuses on the character Shin, who was the card shop owner in both the v series and og series, and how he took over his brother's card shop. That last only 1 season unfortunately due to both the card game not doing well and the anime not being well recieved so before switching over to a new series, the v era had 1 more season known as "Vanguard IF" which took place after vanguard v season 3 and it pretty much focuses more on a invasion of the body snatchers type plot with magical girls mix in there and very little of the card game aspect.
    4. Next we had Vanguard Overdress seasons 1&2 and Willdress seasons 1-3 which is a complete reboot of the original series with completely original characters. Both seasons are pretty much connected since the main character Yuyu Kondo is the lead throughout all 5 seasons. It has no characters from the previous series, but it does have easter eggs to the previous series.
    5. Lastly we have the current series which is Vanguard DivineZ which is pretty much the vanguard G of Overdress where we follow a new cast of characters but are still in the same universe as both Overdress and Willdress.
I hope that gives more of an understanding of the Vanguard Anime 😂
Oh and yes its an actual card game that has been around since 2011 and has been going strong since present day.

Believe in Myself, the second opening has a fun trend.
For a long time it was the insert song for when the main character was about to do some epic shit.
It's the most soothing version of "Why do I hear boss music?".
And yes it's like Yu-Gi-Oh in a way anime wise.
Except having watched all of both, I think Vanguard is the stronger anime as it is more consistent in its writing quality.

    Alrighty, a few things:
    1) You saw 5 different series. The original, G, V, Over/Will+Dress, and DivineZ.
    2) You actually skipped an opening, Overdress opening 1. It’s one of the best ones too, so it’s a big shame!
    3) You said that the very last one looks sick. If you’re gonna jump in, might as well do it with the most recent one because it IS sick. Really really good.

Not going to spoil much but it's actually happening. There's a connection between worlds. I get that that sounds spoiler-y but it's not. It's just the basic summary and the most apt way to put it without diving too deep into it. That said, the quality is to be expected, especially for the earlier ones since this has been a thing since 2011.

  • @bujinturtle2921

Vanguard as a game is fairly popular! Regional events I've attended are pretty well sized. It's just not marketed that well outside of Japan so you don't usually hear about it outside the TCG crowd's own word of mouth, and local community size definitely varies from area to area. Though tbf besides Yugioh/Magic/Pokemon being top dogs I don't think people outside of TCG crowds hear much about original IP games in the first place? So I think to be as large as it is without being attached to a well established pre-existing media like dragon ball, digimon or one piece is pretty impressive.
The playerbase is very passionate in any case so the game's maintained an active following from 2011 until now. Having tried all 3 of those bigger games and several others too I'd say personally Vanguard is by far my favourite to play. And of the anime I like G the best.
I'd say it might be nice to check out the endings because there's probably a lot more music suited to what you preferred here in those butttt the very first series does kind of have quite a few underwhelming endings before you start getting to the more consistently good ones (around 11 onwards) overall more hits than misses after that though. Hearing words like Stand up/Ride/Trigger/Generation in a lot of these is also because they refer to game mechanics! Vanguard as well refers to the main card on the field meant to represent the player.

Cardfight!! Vanguard anime and card game is so popular that I was the first to play it. After that, I started looking at anime events in the country to see if there is anyone else who knows about this anime and game. After 3 years I found one and I still haven't found any more. My sister also really liked it, she watched it on my recommendation and also learned to play it. He was my only opponent. Later we taught this game to our 2 mutual friends who are big TCG players. So in my country 5 people can play this game and 3 people have watched the anime, so very popular🤣It's actually a very good anime with very meaningful and educational content, so I recommend it to everyone. It's a pity that this game is not very popular in northern Europe and unfortunately I haven't had the chance to go to a competition in Europe so far.🥺

Without going too far into lore or spoiling. There are two worlds. The majority of the series is imagination based, as each player imagines themselves becoming that card or unit. But there is another side to it as on the other world battles wage that mirror those played in the card game. It's hard to explain but for the most part it's a bit different from Yu-gi-oh, and it actually is pretty popular. The thing though is Vanguard kicked off originally on RUclips, then moved onto sites like Crunchyroll and Prime Video. Where yugioh had cable network to help it out.
If you go to a local card shop there's a decent chance they have some vanguard merch of some kind.
