David Ursell Hi David, first off: Sick Video! I liked and shared, soo nice to see (and hear) how much fun you have :) What Bars and Kites are you using in the Video?
Amazing and super fun! I try only one time in Brazil and felt in love ! Wishing one day keep riding ! Nice soundtrack too !! You looks have lot of fun making the video ! Greats from Argentina
Hi from England dude, such a fun sport to get involved with and you can start with a small 2m kite easy, hopefully you'll have lots of time to kite soon. Yes we have fun, as much as we can!
Looks like this video has inspired a lot of people to "buy" some kites, but you all should do a little bit more research unless you get pro training. Anyways, I'm self-taught watched a lot of videos and this is what I did and learned: 1.) Shopped all brands and prices, but settled on a Peter Lynn 2.3m hype. Easy to handle 2 liner and you can really learn the basics of steering and control. In good wind 10+ knots you can really feel the power and yank it through the power eye and even do loops. Never any danger of getting dragged. What's power eye? Go study windsurf video. Then learn to one hand the bar for 12 and 3 o'clock positions. Make all your mistakes with this. Crash, self-launch, self-lands, loop it,...etc. 2.) Mastered control, wind direction, and respect the wind. Time to move up to a serious "power" double the area and twice the cost. A Peter Lynn 4.0m Hornet. Yes, this thing can easily knock you down with winds over 5 knots. At 20 knots you can feel it lift you up with kite at apex. However, you learn real control, fear the wind and "lie on your back" to maintain control. A two handle set-up with 4 lines, so you can learn braking, and directional braking. Fly and steer in reverse(can't do with 3 liner). I also learned serious line management. Went from 2 hrs(untangling) to 15 minutes set-up and 15 minutes pack up time. Also, great for low wind conditions 3-5 knots. It will go up, but will take steering skills to keep from falling. At this point I feel I have control of the wind. My next step is either: a.) getting a harness and doing some serious jumping; b.) getting a landboard; c.) go into the ocean to do some body drags. (yes, I know this kite is not water recoverable)
What is "power eye" ? I've been kitesurfing for years and I have never heard that term. Google doesn't provide any answers either. Do you simply mean the high power zone in the middle of the window?
@@test5093 YEs, exactly. I doubt most kiters actually dare to move the kite right through the center/power zone/eye(like in Hurricane). There is no reason to do that, but for a beginner they may have no idea. Ever seen "fail" kite surfing video where the poor beginner get's dragged over the sand/sidewalk/highway,...etc. That's why having a little trainer is so useful. Make your mistakes with a "toy" vs a full size 8-16 sq meter "unstoppable wind machine".
@@luckyrook1246 That's crazy. Even with my 4m, it could be dangerous with 15 knot winds. These large kites are like being pulled by a boat. You must be in total absolute control. Anybody watching this video must know that these guys are experts with many years of training and learning from their mistakes.
@@trexinvert I've taught a handful of people and in my opinion the use of the trainerkite is limited. It's mostly to teach them about the wind window and steering and after about an hour there is nothing more to be gained (for the purpose of kitesurfing). The bigger kite is so much bigger and slower that any real skill with the smaller kite just doesn't translate. Especially if it's without a depower system. Nothing can happen really if you practice with the big kite in swallow water in 16 knots. And we do actually steer the kite right through the powerzone. Right away actually in lesson 1. With learning how to bodydrag down wind you steer the kite right into the powerzone. And for tight carving turns in 15-20 knots a downloop is the only way to go. And in 40 knots the mega loop guys will pull a loop right through the powerzone mid-jump.
Get some lessons first, it depends on skill level to kite size you need, you could be fine on a 7m land or put yourself in hospital with a 2m.. there's no correct answer until you learn the essentials. Our school in Essex, but lots more around the world
Thanks dude you should totally give it a go find a good school get a small land kite about 2 m 4 average wins of 10 to 15 miles an hour and then put the hours in it's great fun!
Extreme :) What does the quick bar pump do before you steer the kite up? Is that equivalent to the small upwind turn before resetting then progressively loading in wake style kiting? I don't know why that is done either? I can see it tensions the lines but if you're loading up anyway, what's the point? I guess it just works? Just a note to people, when you're tired, stop. Ask most people who've had an accident, they'll tell you they were tired and decided to throw one more trick. Ignore your friend saying, "One more" or listen at your peril.
As your speed increases so does the apparent wind acting on the kite. When you go for a high jump you build up as much speed as you can. The kite behaves differently with different wind speeds so the pump allows us to find the sweet spot where you should apply pressure to maximise lift without distorting the kite and getting maximum turning from the kite without any stalling of the wing tip, also a bar pump can be used to encourage airflow over the kite so when you turn the kite will be more responsive

I’ve been using trainer kites for years now. I can’t find a community to learn more about kites. Is there a good forum and/or reddit community? Also, what setups do you guys have in this video? Looks so fun!
David Ursell Thanks for the quick reply! I had some time to watch more of your videos - you’re on the other side of the pond from me. I’m excited to get more involved in the sport as time passes. After a few years with a 2.5m kite, I’ve got a larger trainer coming in the mail tomorrow, Tensor 5.0. Excited for some real pull! I have no major interest in kitesurfing on water, just land like you do in this video. With time :-)
David Ursell, I’ll have to Google that spot, Although I am from the UK, I now live in Sydney. I kite board on water mainly (Not the Greatest at it) and have snowboarded with the kite in Australian Alps region which was good. But never been on a land board. Something to look at. You make it look extremely easy.
wilkothewiz we've just been doing it for a very long time so to us it's very natural. Grab yourself a good landboard and see if he can find a nice area by the coast with smooth wind. Start slow and you will have fun
Anything can be dangerous and a novice to try these tricks could be, however we've been practising these maneuvers for over 2 decades so we're well practised. Glad you enjoy the video and if you want to build up to these tricks, do so cautiously with professional assistance in lessons or experienced kiter friends 🤙🤙

You're welcome dude, this is Frinton on sea, Our home town! we love it :) If you come and kite here, just kite when no pedestrians are around! :) do you land board?
Nice jumps !
how much the size of the sail?
9m 12m and 19m mostly. Filmed over different days :)
David Ursell Ok thanks 💪🏽
19?! The fuck, you wanna end up in Florida ?
@@aitorjara100 I'd love to go to Florida haha. We love to fly
@@DavidUrsell any chance you can get lifted on 4m ?
Two best budz✌🏻🍾
Aj was my best man at my wedding, we always have a lot of fun when work doesn't get in the way!
Looks kinda like the town they shot part of "Supervised" in. All that aside, that looks fun as hell. (more fun in fact as I think hell is meant to not be fun in the literature at least)
Not that fun at all I guess! I'm aiming for heaven... much better
@@DavidUrsell Heaven sounds like too many rules though.
I’ve been using trainer kites for years now. I can’t find a community to learn more about kites. Is there a good forum and/or reddit community? Also, what setups do you guys have in this video? Looks so fun!
Yes look for kiteboarding forums on Facebook and reddit.
In now using the duotone Rebel kites, they are incredible!
With time :-)
Extraordinary!
Thanks dude! Kiting is so much fun it inspires us to do more and get better! Everyone should fly
And here I sit with a landboard in my basement. Hopefully I'll get the guts to do something as great with it as you have done here.
@@Pete_R63 prep it tonight and leave it in the car ready to go 🤙
this looks like the same spot pewdiepie shot congratulations
Best kite i seen
respect, fall could hurt
Yes, it might not look it but we're very careful Haha
Lol this is what you do to make use of onshore wind days? Sick!
On shore winds with cliffs and beach huts giving a extra compression effect. Perfect 😎🤟
Reshpekt generation Dr Alban from Russia
Cheers Dr Alban!
Anyone paraglide at your spot, looks like it’d be good for it too
Very occasionally people paraglide at our spot but they never tend to do that well I don't think the hill is big enough at points it's only 10 feet
Mit Helm 100 Punkte ! so iss zu Krass
Take me whit you:-D this looks so great
It's amazing fun! Come and give it a go!
Im from Denmark, so theres a long way😊
Excellent video. :)
Thanks Christophe we try our hardest to make good fun videos :)
Absolutely fucking crazy.... but so frigging cool..... "holy crap I say"
Very nice brother Am From Morocco
Hi from England! Hopefully you guys are well over there
super cool
😎😎😍😍 cheers dude!
Epic. Where abouts in the UK is this?
wilkothewiz frinton on sea dude, do you kite land board? It's a small spot but we enjoy it!
If wind too strong how u come dows 😱😱
Gravity, it's extremely persistent!
My weight is about 850 Newton is it ok for me to use in my country Nz the wind so strong 💪
You'd have to get lessons from a kite school. It's very dangerous to fly big kites with no experience. So build up slowly and stay safe!
What is kite model?
Duotone Rebel is what I'm using
That's so awesome
Cheers dude
Is this commercialised?
Sorry im not sure what you mean?
David Ursell can you buy the gear and book a course?
@@ribavilla3540 yes but come for a lesson first with push kiting then but gear afterwards 🤙
You guys are awesome
I am only a normal kiter, that's why I am asking but isnt this dangerous? It looks like its so much fun tho :D
@@DavidUrsell Maybe I will. I am into normal 2 line and 4 line kiting but always was interested into kite boarding and this also looks like much fun. Really enjoyed the pov recordings. It really gives a sense of height. :)
Maybe next time you can mention the type of kite your using and it’s area in square feet?
We use LEI kites. Used to be edge. Now I'm riding Rebels. They are measured in m2. I was riding 10, 12, 13 and 19m kites in this video at different points
Thank you kindly
And still amazing
Haha glad you like it dude. I love looking back at our adventures!
Sehr sehr geil
thank you
#epic 🤙🏽
super!
Thanks dude! We love to fly like super man :)
Me three...!
Dude I am sooooooo IN.......
😅 come on then! we only teach 7 days at push kiting though.. hopefully that works with your schedule! 😃
Nice!!!
Its great fun on the days the wind blows just right!
awesome
lyn perk thank you! I hope you enjoyed our other videos too 😀👍
this is insanely dangerous
taylor budd yes if you didn't know what you were doing this is very dangerous you have to trust you equipment and be completely in tune with it like any extreme sport. But when you are it feels incredible and the risk is very minimal
David Ursell I want to try it but am scared I’ll fly away 😂
LewisR-MAKE OUT HILL that's the plan later on, but start with a small kite and it's perfectly safe. Go to a good kite land board school for advice!
Super amei... ❤
I've no idea what that means but I'm sure it's lovely. Have a great day!
David Ursell super love translation ok... yes love.. i love your sport
