If nearly everyone files a basic tax form … why do we go through this nonsense each year? The IRS already knows what we were paid and how much was taken out in taxes. Does a person owe more? Should they get money back? The IRS knows the right answer. Why do they make citizens “figure it out” themselves? This should be automated.
For the very small percentage of the population with a complex tax filing, they can continue to use accountants.
If this system was designed from the ground up with computers in mind it would be more accurate.
