I loved watching this cartoon. I'm 34yrs now and this takes me back. I found it a little sad though and always hoped they'd make it home. Little Uni bless. Those were the days.
Love this show. Own the series and I'm glad to be part of a special time watching animation in the 80's. The stories and themes still hold up and the animation has more detail and flow then even some of the newer shows that are out. I wish Television would get back to this level of art. I guess production cost would be to high. Also make no mistake, this is art without a doubt.
this and mysterious cities of gold what cartoons they were they really are all time classics so much better than the crap they bring out now, used to watch this all the time, god i'm old....cheers for posting
Peter Cullen is a legend among voice actors. Along with Mel Blanc and Frank Welker, he has the distinguished honor of working with virtually every animation house throughout the 80's.
i have looked for this show at so many places...from last one year...its my fav fav show...i am 23,sitting on my workplace in toronto Canada..but i have no problem in saying.... I love this show....childhood memories :D
I used to get up every Saturday morning to watch this show. Seems no one remembers it anymore. not even anyone my age..... glad I found it here. At least now I know I wasn't dreaming it!!!! lol
Loved this show growing up. I'm on a nostalgia trip, right now. Fall Guy, Rockford Files, Night Court, He-Man/She-Ra, Duck Tales, Silver Hawks,,,etc. Just to name a few. Barney Miller was also a good one.
How could I forget this show? This came out in the year He-man if I'm not mistaken. And it was this cartoon that first introduced me to the concept of Dungeons and Dragons.
i'm leaving this message on all my fave cartoons from my childhood, because the probability is, they were yours too! i watch this, and i regress like 20 years....much like you, but then, we only had four channels!!. does anyone else think it's sad though, that because of the massive amount of channels, children of this era will in 20 years have little to go, oh my god i remeber that! unless it's compeltely commercialised, also, the cartoons then had serious morals and guidance-rock on the 80's!
Always loved this series as a kid. Venger is one of the best cartoon antagonist's ever. It's a shame they never made a coherent ending for this classic series.
I watched this when I was little and LOVED it! It wasn't for many years that I was finally introduced to the game and started playing it all the time. I come from a very religious family and none of them ever had any problems whatsoever with D&D. It helps that in addition to being very religious, we have also always been very literate and intelligent, and knew better than to think a game about imagination was evil. Unfortunately, other people at my church weren't so intelligent.
Oh the memories! This was, for me, the best cartoon of the 80's. He-man, Thundercats, TMNTs et al were all well and good, but The D&D gang could be me and my Schoolfriends.
OMG!! Another kick ass 80s classic! This is the cartoon that got me interested in the whole Lord of the Ring style fantasy! Woulda made a GREAT Konami multi-player arcade game! Plus, I ALWAYS had a HUGE crush on the red-head Thief girl!! Classic 80s great stories mixed with great animation!
It was never aired, it can be found however on file sharing networks. The DVD box set contains all of the episodes, including unaired episodes and a d20 module!
OMG!! I loved this cartoon and then I remember one Sat. it was just gone!! but I found it about a year ago on DVD in Wal-Mart. I couldn't believe it only aired for one season cuz it seems like it was on for a minute. But that dragon, Teamat--her voice used to and still does give me the creeps!! She sounds like a demon.
this is one of my favorite cartoons ever!!!i always watched this but never got the chance to know the ending...i think some are friends and siblings. they time travel and never found out the end...
Dungeons and Dragons was possibly one of the best cartoons , never missed it as a kid, and now I've got the DVD boxset :) Wasn't always "nicey-nicey" sugar coated either, Dragons Graveyard as great where they're all sick of Venger stopping them getting home and basically decide to get rid of him - so much for wholesome values , LOL
Fun fact, actually: Cavalier, Barbarian and Acrobat (Thief-Acrobat to be precise) were all some of the first class variants developed for AD&D and were published shortly before this show started production. Actually, the "weird" class here is wizard, as there were only "Magic Users" in AD&D, not wizards. The were also soon to be reprinted in the Unearthed Arcana supplement for AD&D, and TSR was likely trying to breed interest in their 'new' character classes by using them in this show.
I play Dungeons and dragons NES games, PSP games, Com games, and the original Board game and i'm only 13, my dad has all the old handbooks and char. I love this game soooo much
Some of the episodes didn't hold up well over time, but I think everyone can agree 'Dragons Graveyard' is awesome, best of the series, and way up there on the list of 'best episode of a US cartoon ever'. I'm glad they finally got around to releasing the DVD set in the US!
@ rainxxxx:- A final episode was scripted titled 'Requiem' which was intended to wrap things up, but it was never produced unfortunately. You can find the complete transcript online however.
@TheJboy88 It was sort of ended for the fans. A final episode was written, which was to lead to season 2. In it, they get home but also get the ability to go back and forth from home to the DandD world. The season 2 dungeon master was to be a woman and the season would have had an Asian them. It was cancelled before that, but you can read the script online. The United States dvd has that unmade episode done as an audio play and is called "Reqium."
This cartoon was one of the most popular of the 80s - the golden age of cartoons. If anyone hasnt heard of it, you have either been in a coma for 30 years or living in a cave.
This is one of the all time greats of the 80's it was pretty hardcore at times! no cartoon these days would dare tackle the issues this did! I wish they had finished it up rather than scrapping the last episode ( what were they thinking?)
It is true. I even remember the theme Song,] from when I first watched it in 1992. Years later, I watched it, & after haring Raplh's voice, it sounded similar to Eric's from this Cartoon, not knowing he voiced him. How could I forget this show? This came out in the year He-man if I'm not mistaken. And it was this cartoon that first introduced me to the concept of Dungeons and Dragons.

I LOVED this cartoon when I was at primary school
Oh the memories! This was, for me, the best cartoon of the 80's. He-man, Thundercats, TMNTs et al were all well and good, but The D&D gang could be me and my Schoolfriends.

This cartoon was brilliant - it was really good. I loved Eric.
I watched this cartoon in 1980s and it was pretty kickass, too.

God, I miss waking up at 6:00 AM on a Saturday morning to watch cartoons, especially D&D. GOOD TIMES
It was never aired, it can be found however on file sharing networks. The DVD box set contains all of the episodes, including unaired episodes and a d20 module!

The fact that it didn't need a pilot is a testament to awesome cartoons.

this is one of my favorite cartoons ever!!!i always watched this but never got the chance to know the ending...i think some are friends and siblings. they time travel and never found out the end...
Used to watch this as a kid. Can't believe I did, though...
That episode was named "Requim" and was never animated although there is a script circulating and is included in the DVD set.

That was when the Acrobat used to a playable class and so did the Cavalier.
D&D is still on Jetix and I watch it as much as I can because it helps me make my campaign ideas.
This was an 80's Saturday morning cartoon on CBS...around 84 I think.I also think a few years ago they were showing reruns of this on ABC Family.
Oh I used to love this.
Actually, back in the day, those WERE actual classes (as introduced in Unearthed Arcana, original version, 1985). And darn cool they were, too!
This cartoon was one of the most popular of the 80s - the golden age of cartoons.
If anyone hasnt heard of it, you have either been in a coma for 30 years or living in a cave.

Growing up in the 80s Saturday morning cartoons where the best

Oh good lord, I remember this show x_x
i liked how the nerd was always pulling the wrong thing out of his hat.
It is true. I even remember the theme Song,]
from when I first watched it in 1992. Years
later, I watched it, & after haring Raplh's
voice, it sounded similar to Eric's from
this Cartoon, not knowing he voiced him.
They have broadcasted it on both Nickeoldeon,
(which was in 1994) & Fox Show (which was in
2001).
In D&D Tiamat was the mother of All evil natured dragons and the guardian of the first layer of Hell.
In Babylonian Mythos She was the consort of Marduk (I believe...or Apsu...I cannot remember)
The voice for Tiamat was performed by Frank Welker...who also did the voice for UNI.
totally right mate! was a smashing cartoon, along with the mysterious cities of gold haha. Phillip Schofield in the broom cupboard with gordon the Gopher and the butler lol
