100% agree . I am a WT fan boy and talked crazy sh!t after batch 1, my whiskey of the year. Just didn't know if I had hyped it up too much in my mind. Missed batch 2, batch 3 was good but not mind blowing. Hope to see RRsr(f). New sub

Hey Nick! Maybe I had a great single barrel recently so that's why I compared them so closely. But you can't go wrong with either the Private selections or the 13 year old! Thanks a ton for everything and cheers!
Hey Bryan! It seems the earlier batches were cheaper (at least msrp 😆) and better. I think it's a good bottle and probably would pay the msrp now ($150) but definitely not more. Of course for trading, that's a different story 😁. Thank you so much for your view and comment! Greatly appreciate it and cheers ~
Thank you! I felt I was a little upset at the msrp increase in the video, but going from $70 to $150 in 2 years seemed a bit harsh. But I'm glad I have a bottle to compare to other great bottles! Thanks a ton for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
I just opened my batch 2. I’ve had it for over a year. I was hesitant to open it, but I opened it. I paid $130 for it. I get a grape note on mine. I sipped it side by side with my Russell’s pick. It’s definitely darker and richer. The pick is great, but brighter at 9 years old. I like both and feel that they are very different experiences. I would buy another R13 in the future once I run out, but only at retail if I get lucky. If the price continues to climb, I’m out. Master’s Keep is now $300 MSRP! I passed. Anyhow, great analysis as usual. Thank you.
Prices are getting out of control and now msrp is getting higher so we are getting squeezed from both sides! I heard batch 1 was best and 2 and 3 were excellent. 4 and 5 were fantastic as well but just thought the private selects being $80 to $90 and rare breed being $60, that RR13 could be cheaper (like it was for batches 1 to 3). Oh well, still great bottles and I'm glad you opened your bottle and enjoying it! Thanks a ton for your view and comment! I greatly appreciate it and cheers!
Honestly, it didn't change much. Depending on the day, it did seem to have a sweeter oak influence than others. Don't get me wrong, it's a great pour and one I have been nursing as it's still my only bottle, but the hype and secondary pricing is just too high for this one. Maybe the 15 will change my mind 🤣. But that's the beauty of whiskey, some think rr13 is the best whiskey in 2023, some like me, think it's a great pour but not one of the best. Hope you had a great weekend and cheers~
I also will enjoy every last drop of my batch 4 but it seems it just didn't hit me like it does with others as I will finish this one but will probably not get a backup. I'm sure I'll change my mind as I keep working and drinking the bottle I have, fall in love with it more and more and get a back up!! LOL. Thanks a ton for all your views and comments as I appreciate every single one of them!! Cheers!
Great review! I've had the chance to sample both the SR CNF & 13yr B2. They're both amazing in their own way & it really boils down to preference. The 13 yr. is more robust & engaging. On the other hand, the SR is more focused on balance & finesse. Value wise, 13 yr. is the clear winner but rabid RR fans will not mind the steep price of the SR for the blissful drinking experience.
Hey Arn! I passed on the SR due to the price but now regret it 🤣. I think it's BTAC level and so $350 for that is a "fair" price. Oh well, maybe this year 😆. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Truly appreciate it and cheers ~
@@WhiskeyBank same here. I had the chance to get one during our annual allocation drop but backed out when they told me it's $350 😅. In hindsight, I wish it I got one for a special event pour. More power to you!
I just don't think there is a bourbon that will blow your mind. It's just alcohol after all. You are paying for the exclusive experience of drinking this rare whiskey.
Hey Brian! I love my drinking and there are some that absolutely blew my mind when I had it (i.e. Wild Turkey Forgiven, Stagg batch 15, just to name two), but I spent a lot of time and money getting this bottle and that probably factored a little too much in my final review. I agree with you that I am paying for the rarity and the privilege of drinking this awesome bourbon, but I try to factor that into my "style points" and up my "up to $ limit" due to it. Oh well, maybe it just wasn't a "turkey" day for that night! LOL. Thank you so much for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
Ayyy, I’ve had mind blowing ku good whiskey. For me, Eagle Rare 17 year (the 101 proofer) is mind blowingly good. The combo of cherry soda, grape soda, and super sweet oak does it for me. I also have a Stagg store pick and weller full proof pick that are mind blowing, though I’ve had other store picks of both that were not. Cheers!
Idk my dude, it checks all the boxes for my palette. Worth really depends on your budget, but I’d bet money if most people had it in a blind it would be near or at their top choice against comparable pours.
Hey Jon! It does check a lot of my boxes as well and maybe I just have a great Private selection bottle I'm comparing it to, but it was just slightly better than that. It's been sometime since I did the video so I had some more pours and it seems to be getting "better" over time as I'm not comparing to just the RR private select, but other bourbons (i.e. JD10, ECBP, etc.). Maybe you'll see me "change my mind" in my "buy more or never more" video after I finish this bottle. Thank a ton for your view and comment as it really helps out my channel! I super appreciate it and cheers~
Sometimes you just got a call a spade spade man. If it’s not worth the MSRP, then it’s not worth the MSRP. I appreciate the guts and the honesty. Good to know. I was a bit down that I didn’t get selected during the Total Wine lottery to get this. It was my top pick. Now I’m good.
Hello Dean! It's a great bourbon, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting one of the best bourbons I ever had (due to the hype) and it wasn't that. I had a couple pours since this video and it's getting a little better so maybe at MSRP, I would think about it now. If you do get an opportunity to get a RR13 at msrp, I would do so, especially if you don't have a bottle, but I wouldn't be too down about it. Thanks for all your views and great comments! I appreciate it a ton and cheers!
Hey Justin! It is a great pour and a bottle I have been enjoying over the last couple of months, but certainly something I won't pay "secondary" or crazy prices for. There are some real good Russell's Reserve private selections out there that can compete with this bottle. But let's hope both of us find 2024 batches at MSRP so we can do a little research for ourselves!! 😆 Thank you so much for your view and comment! Super appreciate it and cheers~
@@WhiskeyBank Very true. Some recent special release bottles are just insanely expensive. (Jack Daniels 12 year, makers mark cellar aged, Russell’s reserve single rickhouse etc) and I would only get a chance to get one if I won a lottery. Thankfully there really are some amazing bottles that fly under the radar and are relatively affordable/findable- like the Russel’s store picks, ECBP, Larceny barrell proof and others. Anyways.. less talking, more drinking. Cheers
Hey buddy, Wow, great review yet again ! Russell's products are where I started my whiskey journey and I do partake in something Russell's weekly. I have yet to find this offering at a reasonable price(no, I don't think MSRP of $150 is reasonable). But if others are willing to do the FOMO thing at $200 -$300 it really should blow your hair back. It would just kill me to pay that much and realize it's not much better than R.R single barrel or the R.R.10. Ouch !! Thanks for giving a honest evaluation and your opinion, it does matter. I'll just keep sipping on the 10 yr, Rare Breed, and the Single barrel shelfers. They are a good value. Thanks again my friend. Dana
Hey Dana! I will enjoy every last drop of RR13 of the bottle (and sample) I have, but it'll be hard to buy another one at $150+. It'll probably never be a decision to be made as I probably will never see RR13 at MSRP 😂. There are too many good bourbons to be spending that much for something that is fantastic, but not "out of this world". I'm so grateful for all your views and comments!! Thank you so much and cheers!
Hey Vikes! Wow, I guess that store really wanted to make money. I would agree that your getting 80% of the experience of the RR13 with the single barrels and private selections. Hopefully you'll find a pour at a bar for a decent price or a bottle share and you'll be able to judge for yourself if it's worth the hype. Thank you so much for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers~
Hey Larua! It is super hard to fight the FOMO as I have to do it everyday with so many good bourbons out these days! I think I was expecting too much from RR13 and I'm sure I'll like it more when I have a pour tonight 😅. I greatly appreciate all your support and comments! Thank you so much and cheers!
Hey Bourbon Baller! Thank you! I really thought I was going to love this bourbon but I just liked it a lot 🤣. Even though it is a fantastic bourbon, I felt I was letdown a bit. Maybe I'll have a pour tonight and I'll change my mind 😅. Thanks a million for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
Hey PorkChopExpress77! I had the RR13 slightly better than RR private selections, but having it double the price or even more (depending on secondary) seemed to be a little too much. Hopefully there is more people like me and you so the availability and price of the RR13 will be reasonable! Thanks a million for your view and comment! Super appreciate it and cheers!
It seems I'm the only one missing out on the RR13! Maybe I had the wrong food or didn't get enough sleep that day, LOL. It could have been where I had a really good Russell's private selection couple days before it and it was close to that. Oh well~ I'll try to get the next batch at msrp and will need to do this again. Thank you so much for coming to my channel and viewing my video!! Let me know if you see anything I can improve upon as you were one of many who motivated me to start my own channel and it's an honor to have you here! I super appreciate your comment and cheers!
Great review. I agree! Very solid pour but not mind blowing. There is a pretty healthy debate on the East Coast of what’s better RR13 or Stagg. Such a loaded discussion.
Great review! I paid MSRP for the Batch 5. I would buy it again without hesitation because I really enjoy it. That is just me though. Thanks for the shoutout David! Your channel is amazing and you are getting close to 500 subs! Keep on putting out that content and I’ll keep on watching! Take care my friend and enjoy those bottles! 🥃
Hey Vic! This video was only possible due to your sample you provided! Thanks again! I'm sure I was just more upset at the msrp increase and maybe I was expecting too much, so my judgement might have been off a bit 🤣. It is a fantastic pour and I'll enjoy every drop of my bottle and the sample you provided! I'm sure I'm in the minority of it not being worth MSRP. I greatly appreciate all your support! Thank you so much again and cheers!
@@WhiskeyBank It’s all good! You are allowed to feel however you choose about the price. It is what it is. You won’t offend me at all if your being honest. Don’t worry about it, it’s no biggie. @@VicKinikin I do re-watch my videos with the pour I did a review on and sometimes I know I there are areas of improvement and I should have factored in the "style points" or the rarity/privilege of being able to have this bottle on the shelf a little more. Also, it did taste better the night after so maybe I was just off that night. Either way, I can't go back now!! It is what it is and I'll live with it! 😆
Hey Sean! I also enjoy and will cherish the RR13 I have! Maybe the store pick I have is too good or I was just not feeling it that night, but RR13 just did "wow" me that day, which I was expecting. Maybe I was expecting too much. I'll enjoy this bottle and the private selections I have and see how I feel about it when I finish it! Thank you for your views and comments as I greatly appreciate them!! Cheers!
@@MrJbolding23 oof! That's not the news I wanted to hear. Luckily for my area, RR picks are still 9 to 10 year old mostly. Hopefully it'll stay that way as those are a great value at $70 to $80!
I agree with you on the price. Honestly is any whiskey worth $100+? I have paid more and will probably do so again but that is a lot of money for something to drink🙄. Great content. 👍
Hey David! That is a true statement, not many bourbons are worth $100+ these days with so many good ones out there! Hopefully people will agree with you and stop buying expensive bourbons and maybe the prices will come down? Probably not but we all can dream! Thanks a ton for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
Really appreciate the honesty and detail. I managed to grab one at msrp and will crack it soon. You helped me to remember to be honest w myself (and my wallet) when I do so. Thanks!
Hey Richard! It's a great bottle and at msrp I'm sure you'll enjoy every last drop of it but I was more upset at the price increase than the bourbon itself. At msrp $70 or $100 for batch 3, it's a buy all day, but the increase to $150 seemed too much. I'm glad I have a bottle and will enjoy it as well! Thanks for your view and comment! I greatly appreciate it and cheers!
Nice review David. I have always wanted to own one of these and got batch 5 for $150. Enjoyed it and gave numerous samples away. Do not think it is worth $300, but found batch 5 again for $200 and bought a backup. 🥃
Hey Dave! So fast on your click and view! 😂 I believe I was just expecting too much during the review. It's definitely a fantastic bourbon, but I believe the hype should be accounted for as that's why we pay the prices we do. I do not regret getting this bottle as it's my first RR13 but will be tough to get a second one for me. But then again, if I see it again for less than $200, I won't be able to resist!😅 Thank you a million for all your support and comments! So grateful for viewers like you and cheers!
It is a special edition box and it is also supposed to have something special inside 😆. Some cutout of the distillery store. I have been too lazy to actually make it 🤣. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's day weekend and cheers~
Not sure on the knob creek 12 competitor but you're correct that it is overrated to some degree. But let's see how much hype will be there for the RR15 😆. Have a fantastic day and cheers ~
Nice review! Stores around me sell it for 350-500 bucks. I went into a store about three months ago and when scanned it was 130 bucks so out the door I went with it. Went back the next day to get another and it was 350 bucks:( I had a good contact get me another bottle last week and it was 115 bucks! I haven’t opened the newest one but it’s really a nice pour IMO! Cheers!
Hey Nick! $115 to $130 are great price points for this bottle!! And even better that you didn't have to drive far or do some crazy hunting to get it! If this bottle was somewhat available at that price, I would definitely recommend a buy! For me, I had to do so much hunting and searching that it was as if I spent $300 with all the time (and gas) I spent trying to get it. Maybe that's why I had too high of expectations for this bottle and that might be my fault. I'm so grateful for all your support and comments!! Thank you so much and cheers!
Well, David $300 would be the lowest I’ve seen it for in Maryland. And that was last week free batch three and yes, I pulled the trigger and I have to say batch three is pretty damn good unfortunately I have nothing to compare it to as far as the other batches.
Hey Michael! I understand it! I have paid for things I really wanted (it be bourbon or other things) but if it makes you happy, than do it! Life is not just about hoarding money. Batch 3 I heard is great as well and I'm sure you'll enjoy every drop of it! Let me know how it is after you had a pour. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
@@WhiskeyBank oh I cracked it that night. It has a great nose and the palate was mmmmmm with a nice finish. My wife took a small sip and she liked it ( and since she got sick one time she doesn’t like my whiskey). I will be doing small pours to make sure it last.
@@MichaelBortner-qk4zl the nose is out of this world and the best probably I had this year. Maybe that "setup" got my exceptions up even more and that's why my score was what it was. Hey Andrew! That is so true! At $300, it is no where near worth it for me and I would rather get 5 rare breeds as well. But now that I have worked on the bottle and had a chance to "enjoy" it rather than judge it, I would now probably pay the retail price of $150 if I ever see it for that. Obviously, I have not 🤣. Hey Jonathan! Thank you for the sub! RR13 is a great pour, but the secondary is out of control at close to $300. Even at MSRP of $150, I'm not sure the "value" is there, but definitely a great pour. Like you mentioned, if you can find an alternative with a RR pick at close to 10 years old for $70 or $80, I believe you can get "close" to this experience. I believe the batch 3 MSRP of $100 for the RR13 made sense. Thank you again so much for your sub! If you see anything I can improve upon as a new sub, let me know. I super appreciate your view and comment! Cheers~

Maybe I'll have a pour tonight and I'll change my mind 😅. Thanks a million for your view and comment! I super appreciate it and cheers!
Agree with the consensus. Every RRSBSP I have had beats the batch 5 RR 13. Not worth a dime above $150. Cheers Cuzzin!
I totally respect your honesty, everyone's palate is different. Batch 3 was incredible to me. I paid $200 and had no guilt after the first pour 😅🥃
@@WhiskeyBank Thanks! I appreciate the kind words! 🥃🥃
I loved your take on it! The review was great! You be you cause that is why I watch and support you my friend! Take care and enjoy the pours! 🥃
Hey David! I enjoy RR13 but have found the RR Private Select Barrels to be as good or better at $80 MSRP! Keep up the amazing work! Cheers 🥃!
Cheers!
Many of those RR picks were 10+ yrs.
Campari has dropped many of the barrels down to 8 yrs
But then again, if I see it again for less than $200, I won't be able to resist!😅
Thank you a million for all your support and comments! So grateful for viewers like you and cheers!
That WT12 box tho
It is a special edition box and it is also supposed to have something special inside 😆. Some cutout of the distillery store. I have been too lazy to actually make it 🤣.
Hope you had a wonderful Mother's day weekend and cheers~
It’s literally worth 80 bucks. It’s a good knob creek 12 competitor. Never wins in any blind tastings and NOT worth 150, let alone 100
I'm so glad both you and your wife are enjoying this bottle!! I'm sure you'll get another one so drink away!! You only live once!!🤣
Just buy 5 bottles of rare breed
Thank you so much for all your views and comments as it really helps my channel! Cheers~
100% agree . I am a WT fan boy and talked crazy sh!t after batch 1, my whiskey of the year. Just didn't know if I had hyped it up too much in my mind. Missed batch 2, batch 3 was good but not mind blowing. Hope to see RRsr(f). New sub
Cheers~
Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel $80 worth it???
Hey Damon! $80?? No! Not worth that much but I can find it around $54 in my area so it's worth that price for me. I hope prices for the toasted barrel come down in your area comes down as well as it is a good pour! Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Super appreciated and cheers!
Not for my palate. Should be able to find a pour of that reasonably priced. It's a nondescript toated whiskey. Pass @ 80
That’s 50¢ rolling down the side! Catch it!!! lol. I would have actually licked the bottle lol
Hey Justin! So true! I need to figure out a way to catch every single drop of this beauty 😂.
Hope you had a safe and cool 4th of July weekend and cheers~
We all like what we like! That being said I think Russell’s Reserve single barrels are similar and half the cost! Cheers
