Can't wait to start building. I can't believe more people don't use hempcrete. Specially here in the cold Midwest

Several steps are there. First include this in Building materials code. Discuss this with Council of scientific and industrial research

Nice going! How can regulator's, state representative legislator's, lawmakers get away with depriving us of something so useful. Not a question! Go figure!

How did you water proof the hemp walls ?

    • @J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams.

Exterior is covered with stucco or any other rendering. If using wood, stone, brick, or any other products for exterior siding, be sure to leave a one inch gap to allow the walls to breathe. The interior can be plastered or simply painted. There is a product that works like sheetrock which goes on the inside of the house. This product is used as the hempcrete form on the inside. After at least two weeks in warm climates or up to a month in cooler and humid climates the hempcrete is dry enough for the seams and screw heads to be taped, mudded over and painted just like drywall. Hempcrete must have one side open so that the walls can continue to breathe. A healthy home is allowed to breathe.
Great product to make use of what is normally a waste biproduct of hemp farming. Once a suitable binder, other than energy costly lime is found, this product will explode in the market. Right now it's not all that greener than traditional insulation because of the energy needed to get the lime needed.
Great video, and beautiful homes. So sad to hear of David's passing. He was an awesome man with so much energy, love, compassion, and vigor. Terrible sad.

@@J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams. Good points but it needs a few clarifications. Hempcrete is unique due to its lime binder but hemp can be used without it or with different binders such as a Cob binder but it won't have the same strength or high alkalinity that preserves it so well. Also lime is a very small percentage of its contain so the energy cost of growing and processing of the hemp is larger factor anyway. But is far greener then most alternatives or its more resilient such as straw the can mold. Its about trade offs. And lime reabsorbs CO2 as it hardens.
And calling hemp a waste byproduct is mislead since it has always had value. And depends on the variety that is grown that will mostly determines what is the primary use for the plant.

@Diana Oliver i know its awesome that was not the point, and if you cant accept constructive criticism maybe you should not post videos. And you correct the music is not the point, but it takes away from the point, i am knowledgeable of the wonderful things hemp can do, but others may not be and the music is off putting.

The Bluegrass Music is from a local Musician to Asheville NC. I wanted additional music but the Editor made that decision. I make those decisions now.
