We are all fans of the bands you mentioned. Lovebite's fans are not new fans to rock and metal. We love these Japanese women like crazy because they play our 80's metal on an musical level that we don't have anymore with our youngsters here in Europe. I think it's no different with you guys in the States. In western countries, rap and hip hop has taken over the young listeners. Here in Germany, rock and metal is considered "pensioner music" by young people. From Lovebites, Band Maid, Nemophila and more, these Japanese women are the future of Rock N Roll. Not just in Japan, but worldwide. We need good young musicians, but young people learning to play instruments also need young role models. With only 60-80 year old role models (as good as they are), Rock 'n' Roll has been sidelined by the youth of the world. We hope you two will help with the great task of bringing rock music (or handmade music, including blues and jazz) back into the front row. Let's go to friends!

I'm not overly impressed with some of the music coming out of the states lately. I've started enjoying more Russian, Ukrainian and Australian metal bands of late. I can now add Japanese.

I feel what you feel. Here in the US, rock and metal have been abandoned by record companies and entertainment channels since 2000. Rock radio stations are running playlist of songs published 30, 40 years ago. Young rock musicians need stages and rock music need young stars.

Bassist Miho wrote the foundation for “Break The Wall” while guitarist and keyboardist Miyako added color to the composition. Miyako wrote the solo in the middle with Gary Moore in mind.

Those who offer to react to other songs LOVEBITES in vain place their hopes on this pair of reactors. They are not interested in LOVEBITES music.
This pair of reactors (nothing personal) believes "that they know everything, have heard everything in their lives, nothing will surprise them anymore". Relationship to LOVEBITES: "Come on, try to impress us. Entertain us. And we will talk at this time. We are professionals, we can communicate with each other at the same time while listening to a new song. After all, we have headphones".
    - "What are they playing there? Ha ha ha ... well, this is Slayer. Ha ha ha ... so this is Metallica...Ha ha ha , and this in general ...." Etc.
And in order not to alienate LOVEBITES fans, so that they like and subscribe to the channel, you need to sweeten the pill: "LOVEBITES are good musicians, but...."
*** The song "Set the World on Fire" on this channel gained 11,000 views in 7 days. The reaction to ONE song LOVEBITES in 7 days has many times more views than all other reactions to other bands combined during the entire existence of the channel !!!!
I think that the same will happen with other Japanese bands whose fans will offer listen to their favorite bands.

Mee-yah-koh is how you pronounce her name. She has been nicknamed The Golden Touch by the band members because she is musical savant. She composes the majority of their songs and she is also a master of the piano and keyboard.

Miyako? Near half of music. No lyrics except group-credit on "Holy War".
Why exaggerate in ways which diminishes acknowledgment of the other's contributions?

    • @alekhidell
      @alekhidell 2 года назад +5

@@dregeye I suggest you take another look. She is responsible for the music (ie composition, as the man said) on 5 tracks on Awakening, 5 tracks on Immortality and 6 tracks on Pentagram. It’s a similar story with arrangement. She’s not a lyricist. Composition usually refers to the musical instruments. Writing usually means lyrics. The man said “composes”…..

    • @dregeye
      @dregeye 2 года назад

@@alekhidell You are welcome to exaggerate in any way you choose.
Songs have lyrics. She does not write lyrics. There would be no "songs", only a collection of instrumentals if hearing Miyako's wonderful contributions.
What? You think Miyako doesn't get enough credit already?
Why distort listeners/reactors views by ignoring the OTHERS' contributions?
Why only mention one contributor, the music, and ignore who wrote the LYRICS that makes that music a "song"? Maybe you take another look at my QUESTION?
"Why exaggerate in ways which diminishes acknowledgment of the other's contributions?"
You did not answer that question, and since Miyako didn't write the lyrics to "Break The Wall", Chad's comment diminishes acknowledgement of Miho's contribution, which makes it a song, writing the music AND lyrics to the vocal portion while Miyako's contribution is the music she solos over, possibly the transition back to Miho's music that has the vocal, yet Miho got NO CREDIT from Chad.
THAT is diminishing acknowledgment of the others' contributions, no?
My INTENT is for each band member to be recognized for their contributions.
I LOVE Miyako's contributions. I LOVE the others' contributions.
I'm tired of reading all about Miyako, Miyako, Miyako and the others being ignored.
"Break The Wall" is a good example, considered one of LOVEBITES 'thrashiest' by many people's definition. A HEAVY song about Breaking 'walls' in one's life. Miyako's contribution IS NOT METAL, it is a slow Blues interlude made possible (thematically) by Miho's words, Asami's vocal expression & Midori's solo breaking the wall, but none of that is worthy of mention? No! Just Miyako, Miyako, Miyako!?!?
Kryst! Ignoring the fellow MUSIC COMPOSER in the song, ignoring the lyricist who makes it a "song" with her music & lyrics... why can't you 'get' what I'm writing about?
LOVEBITES is primarily an ensemble, NOT "The Miyako Band".

@@dregeye You obviously have an issue with Miyako. He mentioned her SPECIFICALLY because of the way her name was pronounced. That is all. He then added an accurate description. Of Miyako, who was the subject of the comment…….deal with it.

      @dregeye 2 года назад

@@alekhidell "Why exaggerate in ways which diminishes acknowledgment of the other's contributions?"
Still can't answer that, eh? I specifically CREDIT Miyako accurately.
You are being dishonest by still avoiding acknowledging Miho's contribution of majority of the music to "Break The Wall" AND ALL the lyrics, by asserting what I wrote is because I "have an issue with Miyako".
Miyako has never written a "song", as her only lyric contribution is to a song Mao 'composed' music for. That is simply a true statement.
      Stick with your Miyako-worship.
I do have my own 'favored' member.
I do not exaggerate her contributions.
I have no "issue" with Miyako. You didn't READ what I wrote.
      "I LOVE Miyako's contributions." ... and ...
"I'm tired of reading all about Miyako, Miyako, Miyako and the others being ignored."
I guess I could have named-names and said, I have issue with Wolf-Pack members like Alek, maybe Chad sometimes, and others, WHEN they go on and on about ONE band-member & ignore the others.
You ignored ALL my "crediting" of the other members ONLY to inaccurately attempt to transfer my frustration with 'fans' like YOU to "an issue with Miyako" which is a complete MISREPRESENTATION of what I have written.
I challenge you or anyone else to find anywhere in the thousands of LOVEBITES comments I have made, even one where I diminish Miyako's contributions.
I will support and credit each member appropriately.
On your 'song counting' theme, you ignored the credits for "EPs"
      LOVEBITES EP:
      music - Miho 2; Haruna 1; Miyako 1.
      lyrics - Miho 2; Asami 2.
      Battle Against Damnation:

      lyrics - Asami 5.
      Nameless Warrior:
music - Asami, Midori, Miyako, Haruna & Mao
      lyrics - Asami
song contributions, by the numbers (music & lyrics counted as separate contributions):
      Miyako - 8
      Other band members - 33
(ever hear 'there are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies & statistics' ?)
      This part was your idea...
      -----
But I realize that you are not interested in MY point...
(accurately crediting all band members for their contributions)
I now understand that you will insist on inaccurately elevating one member above the others, regardless of LOVEBITES being an "ensemble" and all members are EQUALLY responsible for what we hear and see in every LOVEBITES performance.
I will respectfully avoid any interaction with you in future since it is a waste of time and detracts from the overall LOVEBITES positive experience for others, possibly.
Enjoy your LOVEBITES experience, brought to you by Miho, Haruna, Midori, Miyako & Asami (listed in order of their joining of this wonderful ensemble.)

(DIE) No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
(BY) Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY) Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
(SIDE) How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    (DIE)
    No sign of my crime
    Got my scars during wartime
    (BY)
Who's the one that did it
    Deadly venom eating me inside
    (MY)
    Spent my life in vain
    I can't forget everything I've done
    (SIDE)
    I swear to my hatred
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter

Just simply give your fair reviews without justifying your criticism, just give fair review like David Heretic does. I sometimes don't agree with him but I respect his opinion because he gives criticism without justification, he gives "his opinion" with his good background of music. You said you have good experiences as a musician, so just give fair review. That is enough and people here will understand that. Just make it sure it is merely "your opinion", not like a word of god.

Lesson #1, don't trash talk any musicians. It's so easy to analyze music. You can spot a lot borrowing. Even Def Leppard coping a Police tune. They did a great job though.
Ritchie was perhaps the first Rocker to play the Dorian mode. Everyone from Rhodes, Brian May, Lukather, Vai, Madian, and nearly every Rocker who plays with the accent in heavy began plàying it after "In Rock" and "Machine Head."

Dude, you are so freaking wrong about where it all started, you need to go back even further with bands like Montrose, UFO, Judas Priest, Frank Marino, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, April Wine, and Triumph to fully understand where the bands you so love got their shit from including Eddie Van Halen, they all borrowed riffs from one man, the Greman master Michael Schenker, and the British master Ritchie Blackmoore, and the Irish blues-rock master Gary Moore. Those three guitarists are the ones who started it all, when these ladies began to study the masters of yesteryear guess who they got influenced by and they have said it in their interviews. I am so sick of idiots who say this sounds like slayer, guess what before slayer there was Metallica and Megadeth, this is a Metallica vibe, not slayer. No it is not a pentagram of slayer, look at it correctly. Slayer uses their upside down for evil and Lovebites uses their right side up for themselves, just like the Star of David all against the norms of evil metal they are creating a more pure white metal the complete opposite, it is why they call themselves "The Lonewolf of metal" hence the name wolfpack logo

Came back again to this great reaction. Miyako is amazing, prodigy level on guitar and piano. Love her sound. Lovebites is simply better than everyone else. They can take 6 different influences from different sub genres, distill, blend, and age it perfectly into one freaking song. None of the past greats could do that. And they are all elite level musicians. I grew up with the love for the same bands you did (I'm 62) and seen them all in concert. I may have heard it all before, but never collectively from one band who does it to perfection.

Now that was a great reaction. I love the bit where you’re waxing lyrical about Skolnick solos while the rest of us all knew what was coming. Dimebag is one of Miyako’s guitar heroes and she has a copy of his signature guitar. I’m talking out of my comfort zone here because I only know these names because of interviews and other fans. My guitar hero is Ritchie Blackmore, another guitarist she grew up listening to (her mom was into Rainbow and Purple) and there is an awesome RUclips video of her at NAMM (I think) playing Parisienne Walkways such that her other big influence, Gary Moore, would be proud. I doubt there’s a sub genre of metal that Lovebites haven’t emulated in the 50 released tracks to date.

@@GrayFox14 if you listen carefully he says “influences” several times. Both of them, like a lot of reactors, will draw comparison with Slayer and Metallica when they hear “Break the Wall”. Lovebites often consciously set out to write a track with one of their influences in mind, which is the case for Miho I believe with this one. Cut him some slack. I criticised his first reaction, not because of what he said and did but how he said and did it, which gave me, the viewer, the impression that he wasn’t really paying attention to the band. Nice reaction. One thing I will say though is, like so many people do, they want to compare to other bands. In some cases I feel a band may be more directly pulling from another band, but I do not feel that way about Lovebites. You said the key word - influenced. I am not the type of person who will say this sounds like this and that sounds like that. Lovebites has thrown into a metal pot so many different metal variants and makes it their own unique genre. This is my second favorite Lovebites song (live is better than studio in this case), and my favorite song(s) is The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath from this same concert, Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020.
Lovebites is my favorite band. I am 62 and have been listening to metal since 1971 (Zeppelin). I love thrash, power, and speed metal the most, but like all genres of metal. I enjoyed your reaction to this great song by Lovebites. I am sorry that you have been attacked by some Lovebites fans. It seems like every community, even a fan community like the Wolfpack, will have a few lunatics and drunks. I am sure other commenters have told you that this song was cowritten by Miho, the unfortunately ex- bassist, and Miyako, the guitarist on stage left. Miyako also did the arrangement of the song. Miyako has been the primary songwriter of the band, having written almost half their catalog. One of Miyako's several influences is the great Ritchie Blackmore, and like Blackmore, she has a big background in classical music. In fact she could have a career as a classical pianist and has expressed the thought of releasing a classical album. The DNA of the band, however, comes from Miho. Miho's biggest influence is Steve Harris and it definitely shows in her playing. I haven't figured out the reason she left the band but it doesn't seem like it was internal band friction. She was the truest metalhead of the band and will be missed.
Since your first Lovebites reaction was to a Miyako song and this one was a Miho and Miyako cowritten song, I suggest your next song be one written by Miho. It is called Thunder Vengeance and Miho wrote it after watching Slayer live in concert at a festival. The video will also show you how Lovebites starts a concert.

I’ll have to defer to your knowledge of the 80s metal bands because I grew up with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane, Deep Purple, and Blue Oyster Cult, just to name a few heavy from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. By the time Iron Maiden, Metallica, Kiss, Megadeth, and Slayer came along, they had no luster for me I saw them as mere ho-hum imitation wannabes. It wasn’t until Lovebites came along that my interest in heavy and speed metal was reignited. These ladies have captured the original spirit of the original heavy masters and have surpassed the imitators. But if you wanna compare notes sometime, I can talk Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page all day long. Thank you for your reaction. I am waiting for the next Lovebites reaction. And of course you have to watch BAND-MAID - they are very talented musicians. You will be impressed. And there is another Japanese band called Wagakki Band. They are not heavy, but their music is really unique. They mix traditional Japanese instruments with modern metal instruments and this is amazingly beautiful.

Welcome in my Metal World. Great reaction video. I was born a metalhead. I am a proud member of the Wolfpack. I love all songs and covers of this so talented band from Japan. Bass player Miho (left the band on August 17, 2021) loves Slayer and Testament. Miyako (dark haired guitarist) loves Metallica. This song is one of the few songs that Miho and Miyako created together "musical jacket". And you can feel it from this song. Miyako's guitar solo is in honor of the famous giutarist, Gary Moore. This song is a true masterpiece. One of the best songs of this band. Nemophila is one of my the most favorite all-female metal band from Japan. And one of the best metal band in Japan. Absolutely different metal band than Lovebites. I highly recommend listening to a new song Adabana from the band Nemophila. Keep up the great work. Have a good day with my heartfelt greetings :-).

I think your comments in the first reaction were fair. Some fans can get a bit overexcited, so don't take it too much to heart. I personally really enjoy Midori's solo here, but it is certainly one of her more chaotic ones and I can see why people wouldn't like that. She has plenty of other awesome solos though, so keep digging into their discography. And I agree that Polyphia are pretty mindblowing.

    • @dregeye
      @dregeye 2 года назад +7

Midori's solo is a musical expression of Breaking The Wall, followed by stepping forward to revel in her success...
chaotic? Breaking a wall with music could not be more accurately written & performed, music and physical expressions, imo.
One of Midori's greatest guitar solo achievements, defined in two parts, then transitions the entire mood of the song with her slow arpeggiated chords, joined by Miho's bass, from most intense to the most serene portion of any LOVEBITES song, for Miyako to offer her soulful expressions.

    • @cepho8349
      @cepho8349 2 года назад +3

@@dregeye Dont get me wrong, I really like her solo as I've said. Maybe "chaotic" wasn't the best term. Is "frantic" better? It's not as melodic as some of their other solos. That's probably what I meant to say. Sorry, if my comment wasn't entirely clear.

    • @dregeye
      @dregeye 2 года назад +4

@@cepho8349 Well, breaking a wall can sound chaotic. My point is to bring attention to Midori presenting a musical expression of what the song is about. Can't have a solo like Miyako's to express breaking a wall, eh?
I'm just kinda sensitive to pretty much anything 'dismissive' of any member's 'works'.
Miyako does not seem to be the 'target' of such, ever... Which is fine, except when the others' works are not recognized, and in this case, not 'properly understood', (always 'in my opinion' of course).
I honestly think that Midori's solo in this song is a masterful accomplishment in composition & performance, and will likely continue to 'explain' that perspective.
Thanks for your kind and understanding reply, however, this reactor's comments in his first LOVEBITES video were insulting to Wolf-Pack and disrespectful of LOVEBITES such that I completely disagree with your 'opening line' of agreement with THAT video/comments. I asked him some questions in response to his rude replies to my attempts to kindly explain some things and, in spite of his "come at me bro" thumbnail, he did not respond to any of my questions. I don't appreciate this guy's attitude, but maybe you & others can 'bring him around'.
I didn't watch the first past his "low-cut top" comment, and will not be watching this one at all. There is no point with a person who announces "come at me bro" but does not respond when confronted.
Also like to say that I appreciate your comments on LOVEBITES videos, (except that opening line &:-) and just wanted to point out that Midori's solo is showing us what the song is about! Breaking a Wall & reveling in the success! I consider her transition to slow arpeggiated serenity to be a part of her 'solo' too...
A spectacular display of virtuosity, imo. How many techniques does she perfectly transition between to 'say' what she had to say to us? Amazing!

Also, since you asked, when you do get around to reacting to Nemophila, it is pronounced "neh-mo-fee-la." There is no "i" at the end. Google will tell you it is pronounced "neh-MOFF-il-la," which is how the flower they are named for is pronounced, but they pronounce it "neh-mo-fee-la," as in Japanese, most syllables end with a vowel sound, making it awkward for them to pronounce most syllables that end with consonant sounds.
With Nemophila, you will find a more modern metalcore type sound, as opposed to the 80s-inspired retro sound of Lovebites. At least with their original material. However, they have several covers on the RUclips page that are covers of classic 80s and 90s bands, including Iron Maiden, Helloween, Metallica, AC/DC, Kiss, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Journey, Nickelback, and even Pink, as well as some covers of their Japanese cohorts X-Japan, Maximum the Hormone, Babymetal, and a few others.

I also hear musicians and can hear their influences. EVH blatantly plays a boogie we've heard from other artists in the past.
How many players did their own Hiway Star? Just taking the harmonic minor scale after Blackmore really intoduced it to Rockers. Chuck Berry shuffles, a gazillion. SRV gets heat for his Albert King licks. Randy Rhodes was influenced by Johnny Winter and Blackmore. Everyone borrowed from Roy Buchanan mi in the early 70's. We all learned and we're influenced by those that came before.
Even Mozart and LvB. Beethoven's early pieces are heavily influenced by Mozart.
Well known, the connection between Mozart to Mahler to Shostakovich ect.
However, when I hear someone playing Richie's licks, l think it's a great complement. The gal who plays the Dean in lovebites claims she never really studied Ritchie. She was a concert pianist until she turned 18. However, her mom listened to to Purple and Rainbow day and night. She may not have coped his licks, but you can definitely hear his influence.

You've never heard Slayer before? That's crazy. They are the forefathers of metal. The song I refer to is Raining Blood. The picking patterns of Lovebites in this song follow that blueprint. A very difficult blueprint to play.
I was never a huge Slayer fan growing up but once I started playing guitar my respect grew. Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman were right handed machines. Blistering speed that influenced generations of metal. Their drummer Dave Lombardo is credited with creating metal drumming today.
I guarantee you Lovebites are very familiar with Slayer. Them along with Exodus, Metallica and Anthrax created Thrash metal. Something Lovebites plays a lot.

It seems to me that LOVEBITES songs were influenced by the 80s, 90s, etc. In the 70s, hard rock still prevailed, if we are talking about heavy music (Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Nazareth, Rainbow, etc. ), heavy metal was just beginning to emerge. The same Judas Priest was still not as popular as they became in the 80s. In the late 70s, punk rock was generally at the top. But with the beginning of the 80s, a wave of heavy metal rose ("old school")

Since Miyako's mother was a fan of Deep Purple and R. Blackmore's Rainbow, Miyaka grew up with this music. I think that Miyako's composing talent is primarily the merit of her mother, who instilled in her daughter a good musical taste. All great bands and musicians have learned from the musical material that was created by previous generations. To become a good musician, you have to learn from someone. But this does not mean that LOVEBITES copy someone. It infuriates me when a person declares that LOVEBITES is copying someone. Either the person has not listened to this group enough or he is an idiot ! Years will pass and LOVEBITES will become classics. And beginner musicians will learn from their songs....
