In today's video we take a closer look at the new Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 16 Pro, the $160 first takedown model option, sitting just below the $260 Elites. With that said, despite the $100 price difference between the two, the performance and quality differences are quite small! We discuss the tech of the Vapor 16 Pro, how they differ from the top-end Elite model and ultimately whether or not you should be considering spending less on a pair of Mercurials to have the better overall experience!

Wauw the bigger swoosh(es) are way better looking.. prev gen was very big and i get for a new model they go smaller.. but the one on the pro is the one to go! Vapor 4 vibes
Do you anticipate the gripknit on the elite version to lose its tackiness/grip over time?
Given that loss of grip has not been an issue on the GX or Luna series, I wouldn't expect that to be the case. It should stay very consistent over the lifespan of the boots.

I was able to to try on the pros and had some issues with the heel not feeling locked in, but the flyknit upper was super comfortable! Ended up going with the super flys because the fit felt more locked in in my opinion
Although they say the sock doesn’t offer anything I always prefer it over the vapors

The Future has some padding to the upper, while the Vapors pretty much have none.

F50. If you go for the high end then the Superfly/Vapor. The air unit is so good

The 15 Elite is overall a better pair of boots, but if you prefer a softer, more sock-like upper, the 16 Pro wouldn’t be a bad call.

Very different. The Pro is a much better boot, but also quite a bit more expensive
@@Soccerreviewsforyou gotcha. What’s funny to me tho is for Tiempos, I prefer the academy over the Elite - the academy just felt more solid and comfortable. The elite felt like im wearing a stiffer sock

The previous generation of Mercs was not Flyknit. These are significantly softer and more pliable

The 16 pro doesn’t have the grip of the gx1 but they are both comfortable boots, the toe box on the vapor 16 is a little wider than on the gx 1 as well

Visually, yes, it’s not a big change. The fit and feel of the boots is quite a bit different though

I’d say so. Most high-end and even mid-range Mercurials are pretty comparable in terms of fit and feel
Would you say the upper on these is closer to the superfly 4 flyknit?
The uppers on both the Elite and Pro are probably the closest thing in feel to the Superfly 4 that we’ve had since those boots came out
@@Soccerreviewsforyouthanks! Played a game in the elite I found them a bit thicker than what I remember my 4s but definitely the closest it’s been I agree. Although nothing can compare to that superfly 4 academy pack upper IMO.

That would really depend on whether you want a firmer or softer feel to the upper. The 15 Elite is stiffer, and the 16 Pro is more pliable.

so these are literally a top end model without the grip knit
this cleat would easily be the top end model if nike didn’t want to add grip knit to the mercurial
would give a try in the ag soleplate i think it’s really a cleat i maybe would rather wear than the elite model
I recently bought the shadow pack for the vapor 16 pros and the upper feels and looks very different from the one in the video. The Vapor 15‘s have a mesh-like upper with texture, just like the 16 in the video. My 16‘s however feel slippery and have no texture and have the same material throughout. Does anyone have an idea why that‘s the case?
I have a black pair here as well. They’re the same. You just see a little more of the flyknit construction on the lighter color. They’re the same though
