Road-side eateries like the one shown are often charging around Rs.50 for a decent veg lunch and sometimes even with non-veg food.
@@dip-tree Don't compare any other Lutera city to Kolkata. Its not a normal food joint, its one of very traditional food joint in Proper City called Deckers Lane, with a century old history attached to it.
@@tanmoychatterjee5288 Your biased point of view is not entirely correct. I have been to the Dacres lane and I am also sufficiently familiar with Kolkata, Delhi and many other places in India. I still think the videos are over-rated hypes about a few stalls in Dacres lane. There are much better places in Kolkata as far as eating good and inexpensive food is concerned. Also there are many good places for affordable food around the country. You just need to know where they are and perhaps have a foody friend or two to guide you.
@@dip-tree depending on who is sponsoring you and on which mindset you are belonging too. If its sponsored by your partner or your corporate boss or your millionaire parent / in Laws, why should you bother for Deckers lane? You can try Fluriz, Peter Cat, Mogambo, Taj Bengal, Grand, Hyatt, ITC Sonar, JW Kitchen .. Plenty.. 🤣🤣
But if this is your city where you spent your childhood, running to have a quick lunch in ' Office Para' while your Dad is holding your little hand and your eye is getting soaked with those nostalgic moments, then Deckers Lane, Coffee House, Puuntiraam, college square cabins, those are the place.
So Kolkata is for everyone, from a Millionaire to a daily wage earner. Its 'The Calcutta ', ' The Big City', ' The City of Joy', ' The City of Palaces ', ' The City of Sorrow and Despair ', From The City of Queen Victoria to the City Of Proletariats.

@@tanmoychatterjee5288 What is your point buddy? Just ranting aimlessly? Just so that you do not misunderstand again - no I was not talking about the expensive eating joints in Kolkata. Looks like you seem to know much less about Kolkata than I do. Being a foody, I have explored a wide spectrum of food-joints in Kolkata - from the Anadi cabin, Basanta Cabin, Dilkhusha, etc to the even less known 'nukkad' and road-side eateries. I enjoy Kolkata and it is a wonderful place, but I was limiting my opinion about Dacres lane. Don't understand why you went so defensive when someone expresses an honest opinion.

Decres lane Esplanade, food is tasty but the water they use is un healthy, they use river water to cook their food, it's a small road side vendor.

It would be better to say untreated tubewell water or tap water. Even boiling water does not help as it has to be filtered to get rid of the dirt.

Service rendered by this shop owner by feeding delicious and healthy food items at so low rate is nothing but service to food lovers. The energy and labour that they devote to make the foods with punctuality to cater the eaters daily on routine basis is highly appreciable. Majority of eaters depend on this stall be it bad weather or good but this stall owner is always firm and steadfast in service. Their good behaviour gives a strong feeling of domesticity and fragrance of hospitality. Salute to the passion and honesty to be stable in public service
I used to eat here whenever I had work at or near Dalhousie or Esplanade. As people said, Arun da's behavior is so nice. Place your order and wait for 5mins, you will get fresh food which is both clean and delicious. As someone said, the mixed vegetable is excellent. And the khichdi on rainy days was sublime. I had the khichdi only twice in the 4-5years of my visit to Arun da.
