I love my TS-80P. I do mostly microsoldering, so the performance is suitable for everything I do. The IronOS firmware is a nice improvement on it as well that I would suggest that all TS-80P owners give a try.
i suggest being gentle with the ts80p tips. the connection gets loose and the iron will shut off during use. i still use it almost every weekend and it does get frustrating but it's so convenient to solder anywhere you wish. had it for about 6 months and i really don't know how much longer the clasp will hold on.... pun intended
Just bought a Pinecil from pine64, a cheaper version of the Ts100, unfortunately DOA, and 30 day warranty non existent from Pine support, there MO is to blame the end user of mis-using it. So I'd suggest steering clear despite promising opensource design. Keep up the great videos.

I just received this iron from banggood and am having trouble with it.Using the supplied power brick and usb-c cable. The iron will turn on and reach the heating/setting screen. As soon as I chose either option, the iron restarts and goes through the boot sequence again. Any advice?
Try connecting it to the PC and flashing the latest firmware. Then experiment with a different cable, then different charger to figure out which device causes the issue
Thank you for the reply. I have been able to get the iron to heat up by using a different power brick than the one supplied. It still cycles through rebooting a few times though when first attempting to enter “heating mode”, but will eventually successfully begin to heat up. I need to find a usb-c to regular usb cable to connect to my computer. Maybe a firmware update will fully resolve it. Thank you again!

You may find the ts80 on AliExpress on sale for a lower price.if budget is the concern it will save you some money. I'd recommend it after 2 years of use almost exclusively on all projects
@@notenoughtech thank you. Your videos always informative and fun. I bought the kseger solder station. The tips are of course much cheaper and I tend to need to change them over time. But would like to have a small portable one as well.
I have heard the kseger recommendations before as well how do you find it? I have a beast of the soldering station that I will probably sell and replace with something smaller (if anything) as thanks to there irons I hardly use anything else. Tips should last you really long time if you look after them unless you do a lot of soldering. Google a couple of videos about it. It will remove extra cost of tips. There is more to soldering than melting solder haha I learnt this myself

Sorry to hear it. Did you buy it directly from them or via resellers? Perhaps you can get a refund?

TS80 was a great iron. A nice upgrade though none the less.
I think ts80p is the perfect balance between ts80 and ts100. Now I really need a case for it
Explain to your wife that your vanity upgrades are tech obsessed, and she might encourage the habit.

You could probably edit the setting file, not sure if the firmware upgrade would work this way.

So costly
