Looks like you have some great curriculum to get through this year! We also use and love literature based options.I've eyed Sonlight/ BookShark sciences the last couple of years myself. I hope you enjoy them! LOVE when a curriculum comes with all of the materials you need. So helpful.

    Great choices!!
Didn't know if you knew this or not, and you should always go at the child's pace not what the year and age they are. But explode the Code is meant from kinder (books A,B, and C), 1st grade (books 1 and 2), 2nd grade (books 3 and 4), 3rd grade (books 5 and 6), and 4th grade (books 7 and 8). Also there are half books like 1 1/2, 2 1/2 for those same grades if the child needs more practice. I personally don't utilize the half books. I was confused at first and thought it was meant for kinder through 8th grade. But it's meant for 2 books a year. Though we also don't have a set grade for our kids and just go at their pace. Just didn't know if you knew about the books or not.
We have four kiddos and have done ABC-6 so far! Almost at the end now!
    Happy homeschooling!

This is so helpful! I knew about the different books, even the half ones, but wasn't sure which grades they correlated with! I just watched videos of the insides and picked the one that seemed to be most on level with where my son was. So thank you! That is actually really good to know!

Welcome to YT! Fellow YT homeschool mom here. We are also Christian but use secular curriculum. Great choices! We are also using Handwriting Without Tears and Lightning Literature. I hear amazing things about Book Shark too. Hope you have a great year! 😊

I am also a mama of four that homeschools through a charter school. We use a lot of the literature rich curriculum as well. We continue to use Bookshark/Sonlight and love it. We are trying Lightning Literature this year with my 5th grader just for the poetry analysis portion. So far so good. 😬 Have a great year and I look forward to more of your videos.

Thank you! Charter school funds definitely come in handy with the literature based curriculum since they are usually more pricey! So glad to hear that you have loved using Bookshark/Sonlight and are also trying out Lightning Literature!

We are loving science so far too! Did you get the teacher's guide or the home instructor's guide for primary 1? I'm not sure which one to get next.

@@karifacer I actually didn’t purchase one. I don’t see a need to for the younger levels. I watched enough RUclips videos and got inside peeks at what and how to teach. I think the teachers guide is a bit much for homeschool bc it refers to multiple students a lot but it’s pretty and colorful so I was tempered.

Excellent first video, Kari! I'd love to hear what you think about All About Reading. 😊
We are using Kate Snow's Preschool Math at Home. We love it, but I can see why you would want more practice with first grade. Let us know how the transition to Singapore goes!

Great video!!! I would love to hear how lightning literature and bookshark goes. I've been wanting to purchase it badly for a long time now but I was afraid of how long the lesson may take and the costs. Meanwhile, I literally have everything else you mentioned. I will definitely keep an eye out on your next video. Thanks 😊

@@karifacer I'd love to see either one later on when you had a good chance to use them. Take your time my dear. I am new to homeschooling and I literally don't know if I am doing anything right. I have a preschooler and first grader.

Yes! It will probably be a few months honestly. But I am sure you are doing great! Part of the fun is figuring it out together with your kids:)
