Thanks for this... very helpful changing the battery on my 2010 Quattroporte (M139). The procedure is virtually the same - the main differences are twofold, 1) battery access is via the right of the boot (and much harder to get the battery in and out of and 2) there is a single metal retaining bracket at the front, and no additional nuts to undo at the base or sides of the battery.

There is a way of releasing the ignition key by removing a rubber stopper near where the key goes in and then push into the hole with maybe a small Phillips screw driver while you pull the key out. Or else when your put the new battery in and may work again.
