Beautiful work! You have contributed to saving the cultural treasures of mankind! I hope that with your talent you can release many more such beautiful things from your hands in the future.
Thank you very much, this comment has put a smile on my face. I’m sorry it’s taken 2 years though. I truly enjoy giving tools from the good old days a new lease of life.
The way you ground that corn a couple more passes and it's cornbread and beans for supper tonight. Really nice workmanship on this mill, the result shows the time you took to do the job right. Nicely done, sir. Nicely done.
That is a fine restoration and the detailing of the letters is priceless....your work on the fabrication of replacement parts shows both patience and craftsmanship...well done sir! Best wishes and stay healthy.
Overall a very nice restoration. For me the most important thing is that the tool works like it was intended to when it was made. I agree with others about the paint in the cone and the grinders could have used some touch up but it really did come out nice. Thanks for posting.
Excellent restore. Great tip with the dabbing on the lettering too, will remember this for next time.. my hands are far too shaky to hand paint individual letters these days. Great job :)
You and LADB Restoration are my fav channels for this type of restoration. I was worried the grinding wheels were too far gone to be able to grind again, obv not!
Paragon enamel was a great choice! that stuff is as tough as powder coat. I use it on steel sign poles and cabinet trim because I know it'll last longer than I will.
Loved the restoration and the finished concept. Amazing work as always. Just a tip I found out for cleaning grinders, (I restore coffee grinders), is to use raw rice. Apparently rice is the best cleaning agent if you are changing from corn to wheat, for example. Thanks again for your work. I really enjoyed it. 👍🇦🇺
Well done, young man. I just love the colors and the way you go about making new solutions. And it must have taken forever to sandblast all those pieces.
The long awaited new restoration of My tiny Workshop! I'll start with criticism: I didn't like the aluminum outlet chute, this is not historical. I think it was necessary to find an old iron sheet. The colors may be too bright, but this is a matter of preference. I did not find any reason for other cavils. I was at a loss to repair a rusted-to-lace cone. The master has found a great solution. Excellent object of restoration. Always correct handling of cast iron. I watched it with great pleasure, thanks.
Gorgeous restoration, love the colours and the opposite colours on the name plate. Must have seemed a fairly daunting restoration at times, not a small thing that you can chuck on your bench, really enjoyed your process 😁😁
Really glad you liked it. It sure was daunting. I have another project with even more blasting. I’m dreading that one ( hopefully I’ll do it this year)
Very good restoration. You had to deal with a lot of rust. I thought you might cut out the rotted section of the funnel, and replace it with new metal, but the fiberglass works well. I'm not a fan of rust "patina" and prefer new paint. Now the mill works as it was intended. Regards from the USA.
Thanks. I would have liked to weld a new piece but I can’t weld thin metal. I kept all the jokes to give the fibreglass something to hold on to. Glad you like it
The bolts holding on the conical hopper should have the nuts on the outside. That way the product being ground will not foul on the nuts. See the original before disassembly. A fine job of restoration nevertheless. Well done.
No doubt that you have done a good job bringing this beautiful machine back to life; the grinding wheels could have used some fine work; paint is not everything. keep the good work.
Wow! That was a huge job and executed to perfection. That was a beautiful piece of equipment which you have enhanced with your restoration. I hope you are proud of what you have accomplished and you show this off at every opportunity. Being finicky the only thing I feel you could have done was to remove casting marks and filled any imperfections, but that would have been a huge job because the mill is so large. I have watched this video twice now because the job you have done is so good. Feels a bit like restoration porn to be honest.
This is definitely a better restoration than I could have done, but I feel like it is not up to the standard that I've come to expect from this channel.
@@mytinyworkshop1213 I just think the milling wheels could have been sharpened & the inside of the cone should be food grade paint. I know you probably get tons of comments about how to do it better but I think you are doing great work.
ok i feel really conflicted about this one. i love how it looks at the end, looks awesome im dissapointed there was not attention given to the grinding surfaces, seeing the fiberglass on the hopper repair left bad vibes, same as not using some food grade paint or sealant. personally i would have either made and used a patch, braised it in or riveted it on like a period correct fix would be. also felt a bit off about destroying one tool to repair another, especially when you only wanted a simple wooden handle nice way to use a old shirt to dab the lettering on, i was always shown to use a sponge
Nice end result. For the love of god, get yourself a metal container for your quenching oil. Watching you place hot items in a plastic container was painful & it's an accident waiting to happen!

Very well done sir ! l watch many of the available restoration channels, because at 75 much of what is being brought back to usefulness was around in my youth . This would include the mechanical screwdriver that the handle and tube came from. When you removed the handle , my brain was shrieking "BLASPHEMY " ! When you cut off the section of tube , l realized , ok , maybe the screwdriver was damaged already . l ask you sir , for the sake of your older fans , please post a warning at the beginning, CAUTION older tools will be cannibalized in this restoration ! You may be preventing a sever voltage drop in a pacemaker. 😀😀😀
@@mytinyworkshop1213 , In my youth long long ago , l was fascinated by the mechanics of how , what we call a Yankee screwdriver worked. I still have one very similar to yours made some time prior to ww2 and a later 1950' model . No cord or batteries needed . An old metal bandaid box (can?) holds all the tips and drill bits .
Great job. Well done
Absolutely gorgeous Great job

It sure is appropriate for the circus

The dabbing on of the letters was brilliant.

Due to the increase interest in baking bread, you could hire it out for people to mill their own flour. Fascinating and great job done on this.
Thank you. Glad you liked it
Very good, MTW!! you put a lot of work into this project-------excellent outcome.

I’d love to have chickens. Maybe in the future.

Nice job, although I did shed a tear for the Yankee...
I understand. The yankee was broken. It’s been in my trash pile for a year. I couldn’t throw it away.

By the way, what are you shooting for ??
If you mean why do I film my restorations. It’s simply to share what I love.
No lead check?
There is nothing left to check. Almost all the old paint was taken away by time.
Nice end result. For the love of god, get yourself a metal container for your quenching oil. Watching you place hot items in a plastic container was painful & it's an accident waiting to happen!
Thanks for the concern. I’ll upgrade. I have a little safety in the plastic tub. There is a 1/2 plate of steel at the bottom.

I think you cheated and swapped a new (old stock) one for a rusty one yuk one 🧡 I'm no fool.
You caught me. Lol
Filler on the cone will never last, should of welded new metal in.
Hi, I would have preferred welding. However I’m not able to weld thin metal yet. Funnily enough I just bought a mig welder this week to learn.
I bet this had a babette bearing
There were no bearings. Just metal on metal.
Museum piece!!!
Thanks
No bearings used.
It never had bearings.
You can put electric motor drive. In this generation now anyone using this mill .great cute work
Eventually I would like to restore a mill that runs in a stationery engine.
All the metal is still pitted and looks like crap.
Great resto ...horrible colors
Glad you liked tithe resto.
Sorry but I hate it. This is not a restoration but a customisation and IMO a hideous one at that... 👎
