Dude, you have heaps of metal there, make an A frame, make a jib, make a crane tower, work smart, not hard, that winch with some pullies would work wonders if done right. Loving the fact that you are now filming your work and we can see your progress, stay safe and be happy.
Hey Alan!!! I just wanted to apologize to you for comments I made when I first found your channel. I wasn’t very nice. I’ve been watching you and Heavy D’s stuff the last year and grown to really enjoy your humor, work ethic and character. You are an amazing person and I’ve learned a lot by watching your channel. Sorry I was quick to judge and write those few comments. You are the bees knees brotha!
I’m an engineer (EE), and I’m a builder/maker, yet I’m amazed with you Alan and your God-given gifts. You are blessed, and I can’t stop watching. Heavy D Dave was thinking clearly when he asked you to join his team. I’d not be watching much of his content if not for you, the Wizard.

You work so hard Alan and overcome challenges that could easily require a team to achieve. Keep up the good mate. You are truly deserving of all your success.
Since you will be hauling more stuff up than just the wind turbine components, you might devise an "A-frame" with a pulley and a pivoting base (hinge). Lay the A-frame down to get the initial pull, when the load reaches the top it pivots up and inward to safety. Might be worth the time to build.
I was trying to say that yesterday, but RUclips wouldn't let me. If it was good enough to use for building the pyramids of ancient Egypt, a fortress in Utah would surely be made to measure.
Yes that would great to build a A- frame off the two big beams 10' or 12' up so you can bring the pieces up past the landing and swing it in as lowered it down. Also need a nice come along to pull stuff in on the landing when working by yourself up there!🤔😉👍
yes a derrick - crane was invented a while ago - my gandfather was a stone mason, his yard derrick could achieve amazing feats, back when batteries were only for starting a vehicle (pony motors ran accessories).
The Crosby clips terminating the cable to the hook are on backwards. You also should have more tail coming out of the Crosbys, also possibly more Crosbys. (You would have to look up the specifics for your cable size, but I highly suggest you do)
The sheer ingenuity you show in building this project.. is mindblowing. This needs to be picked up and go viral.. "Man lifts xton wind turbine up a building solo"!

Your welcome...it was just an idea when I noticed how you had the chain around the 2by4s ext....to keep it in place ...steel beam would solve two problems and then it would be able to get other things up to where you needed to without the extra work on yourself......more Pepsi please...lol

I dont like Pepsi anyway. I do really like the Cherry Coke! Ive read that theres a Cherry & Vanilla Coke, yet to come to Australia. I do like Vanilla Coke! Thanks for your info re flavours Alan. from Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺
Alan... Maybe you could build a "A-Frame" with a pully and attach it to the two I-beams that protrude from the side of the building. If it were attached out away from the building it would keep stuff from hanging up on the building as it is lifted up. Maybe make the A-fram tall enough so once and item is high enough take some 2x6's and span it across the I-beams under the item to maneuver it on to the concrete floor.
An A frame that can hinge at the bottom would allow for lifting and setting up on the roof! The taller the better. Or even a jib crane on a telephone pole?!
The entire time I was watching Sparks and crew getting the concrete up to Cerro Guerdo I couldn't stop thinking "They needed Allen and his ATV to get all the concrete and blocks up there just like at The Fortress "😂
Improvise, adapt, and overcome was my mantra when I worked on the ambulance. Looks like Alan is a king of “use what ya got to do what you need.” You definitely have given me some ideas for lifting my boat safely to work on the bottom gel coat.
I love watching his videos of him working on his fortress! It's so interesting. I do scared for him because there really aren't any safety precautions put in place and it's a long way down. Just one wrong step. The height freaks me out!
Thanks for sharing Alan, reminds me of the good old days, when the company was to cheap to rent a sky hook(crane), we'd have to use our brains to get things done.
I live in a very comfortable home that I've put one hell of a lot of work in to make it this way. I look at what Alan is doing and I feel nothing but admiration and envy, not the least all of a great deal of appreciation for his hard work. My efforts were not anywhere as involved as his. All that work and it's easy to see what one day will look like. Great character and perseverance. The country needs more people like Alan.
Amazing show of geometry, physics and mechanic work! Thank you! You inspired me in this year to fix a lot of things in my own house, just doing little things step by step. Thank you again! :)
Hi Allen, damn, I wait with anticipation after every video for the next one! I've seen other comments saying you should make an "A" frame for winching the next turbine frame, I really think this is the best way to go. If you can get the frame on the ground right below where it will eventually sit you could do it in one pull. Can't wait to see the fortress come together! Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 👍
You needed that wooden hoisting frame right from the beginning. It would've make your live so much easier. You have enough blocks on that level to create the counter balance. I'm sure you can figure something out. Ingenuity is one of your strongest assets. Good job though, keep up the hard work, can't wait to see what's next.😁
Holy shit, my best Afrikaans. You woke my 66y up up to do more with what I have as a housewife. I am not looking anymore. I try to do what I can the best I can. Thank you Allan. ❤

The whole time I'm thinking to myself I sure hope I am not watching an episode of Road Runner vs. Wiley Coyote. I must tell you Alan that there was a former neighbor I had in PA, that was an older gentleman named Peter D. He was always finding ways to make use of discarded items. He had worked on steam shovels that were used to move Anthracite coal from the Coal Mines to the trucks waiting below for the loads. Peter's brother had also worked with the steam shovels & often called Peter when there were issues with the heavy equipment. A giant bolt broke on one of the shovels & the replacement bolt would take 2 weeks to be replaced, often longer. To order it & wait for it to arrive, would hold up the production of strip mining. So Peter would search for a bolt for his brother to repair the shovel faster. Most times Peter was the man to trouble shoot ordering replacement parts, after all the bolt that Peter found was keeping coal miners working alongside The Anthracite KING, Once known as the largest Steam Shovel in North America ! When I was in my early 20's I was able to park my car inside the shovels bucket, along with several other vehicles one Saturday afternoon ! That took place in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where to this day in the year 2023 many of the residents still heat their homes with Anthracite Coal ! I saw the coal cars that you showed to David Sparks & his crew, those may still be around the area where I grew up in PA. There had been a movie about the coal mining days called The Molly Maguires, where some scenes were filmed in Eckley, PA.
Wow ! Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me ! I’m kind of like you in that way but for sure not yet at your level. These videos are invaluable in expanding my imagination of solutions to problems I encounter in my projects.

Bolt down a genny rig to those beams and raise your winch to the upper section. Build a ramp out of block and that plywood. The genny will be two legs forming an A with the wide base at the building edge. When the load reaches the apex of the pole, the A frame pivots, lifting the load and bringing it over the building. With straps reversed back to the end of the protruding beam you can lower the load by letting the a frame pivot over center. Disconnect the A frame and continue winching up the ramp. Keep the ramp and winch set up to skid block up to the higher level. Tracks, wheels and a cart would be nice too. Man with your talents should have a pivot crane built up top already. Always a blast watching your build. Thanks Wizard, appreciate you sharing.
Alan what you are doing is no short of incredible, but you wont live long enough to get this done at the rate you are going. Hope it works out for you, and love the videos.
Great job getting that done one more peace of the puzzle you are a hard working man my friend I know how it is doing stuff alone but there’s always a way nice 👍🤘🙏👍
If you'd put a pulley on frame, where you had winch connected and put hook back on other side of building would've made it alot easier. But you're getting it done. Gotta congratulate you for that.
Awesome, Allen! :) But you need to weld together a assembly crane you can put up the top. This isn't the only heavy thing you need to lift up there. I use a small crane to lift my boat up to the pier, when heavy sea approaches. Takes me 30 minutes and 8 bolt to put it together or take it down. And 1 man can lift and handle all the pieces.
That is amazing! I loved this video! Your ability to problem solve is unbelievable! You're patience is unbelievable too. I can't wait till it's finished. Now that you're back working on it, I hope we get more videos more often now.

good job Allen...............
Nice long episode for us. I love the ad-hoc resourcefulness of Alan's work.
Alan what you are doing is no short of incredible, but you wont live long enough to get this done at the rate you are going. Hope it works out for you, and love the videos.
Congrats on your amazing skills to build this! I'm cheering for you!
Alan you truly are a wizard the way you look at a problem and come up with ingenious solutions!
No one works harder than this dude …well done Alan
Unbelievable, you are a wizard in your own right. I am amazed at all you do and accomplish by yourself.
What a beautiful view you have from the roof. You are looking good on the progress... keep it up...
Alan's Wizardry is in full force with this one! 👍
Mr Wizard MacGyver you delivered again-can’t wait to see this thing to completion!
Great job getting that done one more peace of the puzzle you are a hard working man my friend I know how it is doing stuff alone but there’s always a way nice 👍🤘🙏👍
