Brilliant performance. Love the reverb from the big hall at Villa San Michele. As always, Charlie is a pleasure to behold.

Magnifique interprétation de Charlie Siem dans la lignée de celle de Zino Francescatti, pleine de lumière, de poésie et de lyrisme, avec la complicité de Itamar Golan ce merveilleux pianiste de chambre. ❤

Just amazing. We’re so fortunate to be able to watch this performance! My personal favorites were Tambourin Chinois followed by the Wieniawski Polonaise. Every piece was masterfully played. Well done!

Being able to listen to such well-played songs and observe the duo, which seems to be connected by a thread of genuine friendship, builds the mood very much. Personally, I prefer Wieniawski's works, not because of his Polish nationality, but because unlike Chopin (a Pole by his mother), whose music deepens my melancholy (maybe due to my knowledge that his Mazurkas contain his pain for Poland, which he had to leave forever), Wieniawski by using a violin, gives the pieces a more soothing tone, making the melancholy turns into exaltation.
I miss live music so much!

Chopin i Wieniawski to dwie różne epoki...Fryderyk tęsknił ,Wieniawski nie musiał...Pozdrawiam.

@@barbarakaszanska5063 The above sentence seems to me to be only a display of erudition, but it does not seem to have any basis in facts (biographies and historical background).
I completely disagree, because both Chopin and Wieniawski lived in the epoch, when Poland was under three different partitions.
They are divided by a generation difference, but both lived at a time when questions about national identity were defined by their attitude towards Polish national uprisings, for Chopin it was the November Uprising, for Wieniawski - the January Uprising.
Chopin was emotionally involved in the November Uprising. Wieniawski, during the uprising, was the First Violinist of the Tsar's Court and taught in the Music Society. His brother (Julian), on the other hand, took part in the January Uprising, for which he was persecuted. As we know, WIeniawski was a compulsive gambler and perhaps, for fear of losing his permanent job, he did not engage in political activity, although in his family both father and brother chose a different path. He must have been aware that his work for the Tsar, who oppressed Poles, was met with hostility even from his own family.
Listening to works by Chopin and Wieniawski (Polonaises and Mazurkas), I have the impression that they differ in the emotional background on which they were created. Chopin seems to express his lofty love for his lost homeland in the Polonaises, while Wieniawski's more vigorous Polonaises may be an expression of his compulsive gambler nature. It seems that these two Polish artists brought out other aspects of the same works from which they drew their inspiration. Wieniawski, whose impulsive character entangled him in gambling activities, seems to understand the Slavic spontaneity more and it is this aspect that he emphasizes in his works. Chopin is more orderly in the means of expression and thus emphasizes pathos. Maybe because of Wieniawski's impulsiveness (although I don't feel attracted to gambling), his works appeal to me more.

@@barbarakaszanska5063 Cóż łączy nas pogłębiona refleksja nad motywacjami kompozytorów, różni ich interpretacja. Siem (poprzez nietypową dla skrzypka, ekspresyjną mimikę) i Golan doskonale oddają słowiańską żywiołowość wpisaną w Polonezy Wieniawskiego.
