Emma your enthusiasm is so contagious! I had a smile on my face throughout the whole video! You can tell this event just fed your soul! I'm having a real crap day so thanks for this 40 minutes of joy. 💚
Emma can u make a video how u can start doing plant swap explaining i want to make one here in Massachuset because there never plant swap here is usually 3 hours and other state but i will love to do plant swap in my area
Great video and these plant swaps look like so much fun. Can’t wait until I am able to get to one. Your joy for them is infectious. Thanks to you and Lisa for organising them.
Can’t wait to see how the Hoya sp. Teneba grows for you! The swap was an absolutely incredible experience, once again. You and Lisa seriously knocked it out of the park 😊
21:27 I think yours is the TC raphidaphora tetrasperma and hers is the non TC. I have seen the two have differences within the node spacing and the way the leafs grow out!
the swap was such a wonderful experince, I really enjoying meeting everyone and making new friends!! Thank you Emma for organising such a lovely event with Lisa! and thank you for the cuttings you kindly gifted me, you are such a lovely and generous person, it was so nice to meet you! and I'm happy you like the little adansonii print 💕💕💕
Yayyy I'm so glad you were there and had so much fun! Did you get some good plants? Also I freaking love the print! I'm actually looking for a frame for it now so I can put it somewhere nice 🥰
Isn’t it wonderful when you can get such joy by bringing like minds together! You’ve inspired me to look for something local to me here in the US because I can just see how much fun you all had 😁 Glad you got a good haul while be able to give a good haul
@@GoodGrowing Ironically, yes, but not on the scale of yours, yet. A local store hosted one that I attended yesterday. It was very small, but I had a blast and will look for other opportunities 😁
Man so so gutted I couldn't make it 😢 did watch all stories religiously 🤣 I am soooo coming next time . That sigilatis DAMN 😍😍😳 need one for myself so so beautiful
Hello Emma, very well done, looks like you had fun putting the swap together. Regarding the differences between your and Claire's Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma, I have gone down the rabbit-hole of RT tissue culture vs. non-tissue culture (stem cuttings, seed cultivation). What I have taken away from all the available info I could find is: they are the same plant, because tissue culture is "cloning" however, they may differ considerably in appearance, that may be due to many variables, e.g.; maturity, soil medium and growing conditions (light, humidity etc.). Tissue cultures are very fast growing, like human children. As the plant gets older, the appearance can change a lot, like kids. The new TC has delicate, tender leaves and tends to vine as it matures. The leaves will eventually toughen up and thicken and begin to fenestrate, although they sometimes unfurl looking U-G-L-Y (like teenagers in the awkward stage), at least mine has and does, and I think it is a TC. Most non RT TC are from cuttings, so a cutting is usually more mature to begin with, not as fast growing (because it is already mature, right?) and produces more fenestrated leaves, although non-tissue culture RT produce juvenile leaves as well. From what I have researched, the growth pattern of the tissue culture will eventually start to behave like the non-TC as it matures, but I have seen on-line debates, or arguments, about that point. However, I STILL have questions. If a cutting is taken from a TC, will it eventually start to look like a non TC as it ages? Also, have all RT tissue cultures originated from one single plant, company, like trademark rights, or are there several companies that tissue culture them? Perhaps the differences are due to the genetics of the particular plant that has been cloned? I haven't found an answer to that yet. Anybody know?
@@GoodGrowing, I don't know; maybe, it looks that way to me, no? I'm no expert and as I said, I have questions that haven't been answered by the info available on the internet. I would like to acquire a bona fide, non TC, not only to compare the tangible similarities/differences to speak more concretely on the subject, but also because I really just find this kind of stuff fascinating and its probably the fundamental reason why my interest in plants has been constant from a really young age. Yep, plant nerd right here. If I ever find a true non TC, I will let you know. I've had some difficulty finding one because a lot of the retailers here in the States don't even know if they sell TC or not, and I'm not willing to spend money on something I already have because I own too many plants already!
Oooh, the hoya compacta variegata is one of my super wishlist plants! They're so rare though 😢Also, I kept getting pleasantly distracted by Cleo's reflection in the background 😸
Yeah they're defo not really sold around! I didn't even bother putting it on my wishlist as I couldn't give myself an excuse to buy one hahah 😂 but since once presented itself to me 😉
Loved watching this 😍 would definitely want to experience a plant swap event 💚 also the difference in the raphidophora tetrasperma might be because of one being a tissue culture plant. Differences show up in the leaf shape and the placement of the fenestrations. Thank you 🥰
all plants are welcome and I'm sure you'd find someone for everything! Have a look at my previous swap video and you'll see that people swap everything!
I wonder if one of the Tetrasperma’s is a tissue culture! I have 2 at home and one is tiny and almost blue (tissue culture) and the other is larger and more green!
@@GoodGrowing that’s amazing 😍 Thank you so much for the content, I hope that one day I can join one of your plant swaps! If I do, I will bring you a snip of the teeny tiny TC Tetrasperma. Her little fenestrated leaves are the size of a pothos leaf 😂
I wonder if tissue culture is the difference between the two Raph Tetraspermas?! I feel like those subtle difficult to pinpoint differences are sometimes tissue culture related
I took 38 plants mostly my propagations to a garage sale Saturday. Sold some and gave some away. I need to find someone giving away this way lol. I live in a smaller town so we don’t have plant swaps, although I’ve tried to get interest going.
One of the tetrasperma is probably tissue culture, they tend to come in much smaller 😊
This was fun!!!
Came to say the same thing - Emma's looks like non TC, but Claire's looks like the more usual non TC plants. Interesting!
I was gonna say this too! Lol
Emma’s i TC, Claire’s is not 😊
😂 “if you don’t want more hoyas you’re wrong” ❤ this swap is just insanely amazing! My jaw is just dropped the whole way. 🙌
hehe thanks! We worked hard to make it the amazing event that it is :)
@@GoodGrowing I think everyone can agree that it was a good time and a great success and I wish I could’ve been there. Great work 🙌

I hope it grows well 🤞 it's in some pon now so hopefully it'll be happy like that! Thanks for coming and being a lovely human in general 🥰

You're correct. The TC tetrasperma appears different, usually smaller and more delicate leaves!
@@jaclynns.jungle, ah yes, I watch you too! Thanks for the comment!

ahhh that would make sense. So mine is probably TC & Claire's is nonTC??

That Pellionia and it's different varieties are sold everywhere in the States.
how interesting as I've never seen it sold in a plant shop here in the UK

I highly recommend attending a swap if you can! And that makes a whole lot of sense about the RTs. Do you know which one might be which?
Would love to go to an event like this one day! Im still only a beginner though so I only have cheap common plants that I could potentially swap😅
Same here!! ❤

oooh that is a cool peperomia! Thanks for sharing!!!

yeah that seems to be the general consensus. I think my one is probs TC and Claire's in non TC, so now we both have 2 different kinds!

Maybe have a look in your closest big city & make a trip of it? I know a few people did that for this swap!
This looks so exciting, are they held often?
We aim for every 6 months or so
I think claires raphidopora is tetrasperma green while yours is tetrasperma blue... not really sure though😅😅😅
I'm thinking about doing a swap. Where do the raffle plants come from. Do you buy them?
all the raffle prizes have been donated by local planty businesses which is very much appreicated!
Thank you!
All the swaps by me are either more like people paying for a table and selling things or they are people just trying to get rid of clippings
Omg Alocasia nebula is such an asshole… wish you luck! Please share your experience, all of my friends who tried failed with it so quickly…
haha tbh, it's already gone 😅
@@GoodGrowing don’t worry, there are so many plants with much more desire to live 😁
could you go to a plant swap without plants and buy cuttings, or is that rude?
At our events, selling was not allowed. It is purely a swap
❤🎉
