- Howdy fellow adventurers, the beagle and I finally caught up with Ted Schoenfelder and his Shanty Sanctuary. I think anyone interested in building or buying a shanty boat is going to find a lot of inspiration in this interview. Ted's attention to detail really shines. Make sure to head over to his channel and subscribe, and tell him the beagle sent you ;)

"And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves."
Thanks for watching. See you again soon...

Apologies for the low resolution quality guys and gals. I had to use my old phone (for the wireless mic set up) hopeful the audio quality will make up for it. I'll get the new 4k phone matched up to the mic set up soon. Don't forget to head over to Ted's channel after the video. Thanks for watching. --Brenton and Wavey
Hi
@@gangsterghost7200 hi Logan;)
Another great video.
Back in 2000 after my wife died I started working at a marina.
One weekend I heard someone yelling that he was tired of this boat because it would not start and the first person that gave him $10.00 could have it.
It was a 1968 37' wooden Pembroke.
I spent the next year restoring it, lived on it for about 5 years, then it sunk at the slip in a hurricane.
Great episode. Ted has his boat squared away well. Very nice!
Great interview....just thought I would comment on the remote steering just in case someone was thinking about adding it. I have Intellisteer on my houseboat it replaces the cable steer helm. It's only two inches longer than the original. There is a box that has the brains with an antenna but it doesn't take up much room . Thanks for sharing.
Seems more shanty than boat, to each their own! Looks like a great rig, im just soaking up ideas for my own build. Thanks for sharing
Great boat. Great interview. Great audio and video! Lots of daydreaming will be done off this. Many thanks for what you do! ❤
Wow, what a cool little vessel, love all the woodwork inside too and all the comforts of home.😊🛟⚓️🌎
Very cool to see the different designs out there. Thanks again for sharing. I’m originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario so the places and names of the lakes you were mentioning were familiar to me.
Cheers 🇨🇦
hello from the quiet warm Ozarks Brenton! Another great interview of value. i enjoy Teds channel too tight lines!
Nice interview, good editing. Loved having a ddtai, detailed, tour.
Love to see the guys and their special boats.... Would not have that one because of the sloped boaw etc. But He loves it.. All good...
That is a nice boat! The fellow is quite the explorer. Would like to see more videos...
This is a great interview. You didn't speak over him after questioning and you got some of his personal history which makes more of a connection to me. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to go visit his channel now!
Thank you for noticing and saying that.
Wow that story about the storm on Lake Superior was frightening.
It happens once in a while. ;)
What a super guy❤
awesome video ,,,thank you
Thanks, again, for such videos! They are inspiring!!
Good interview.that boat is just so well thought out I would like to do something similar 👍✌️
Excellent interview and video.
Thank you sir :)
I’m really starting to love these shiny boats all the different styles.. yours is gorgeous by the way!!
They’re kind of like a river trawler..I really really like that you can just pull up on the beach…for exploring it is like the ultimate boat..you can stay anywhere almost
Shanty boat not shiny lol even though I am sure some are shiny
Excellent…what a cool vessel
Good interview. You asked good questions.
The beagle asked good questions Karen ;)
Grate boat and wonderful interview 👍
Ted goes on some really nice trips, thanks for the interview.
Good interview. Thanks
Nice!!Thanks!!
that is a Beautiful shantyboat outside and in other than the fact that he steers from the outside and yes i remember him saying he has remote but to me i would want to be upfront and inside . the woodwork is Awesome.
Ted's boat is very nice. He's a good fella too. I wouldn't want to be outside while driving either, but I know the narrow boats do in in England. I want to be out of the weather ;)
I enjoyed your interview Brenton! I like Ted's phylosophy, preffering to trip in the wilds. I feel the same! I've watched some of his Temagami videos. I'd like to get up that way one of these days! AllthebestRoy
I follow Ted as well really like he's postings his FAA engineering comes through in his workings the one take way for you and weve discussed this before out swinging doors imperative for sealing against water and safty.
That was great thank you
That's a nice boat 🚢 👌
Very cool video, great content.
Cool interview. I watch his videos too.
That is a petty cool little houseboat.
Interesting.
This boat looks Heavy to me .. I dont think it would handle rough water very well looks like it has the possibility to take on lots of water if caught in a storm I had rather have pontoons.
Sounds like you need to build up a pontoon boat Stan. Ted is enjoying his design.
He's speaking your language. Nothing is interesting if you're not interested.
I'll say using beagle to describe is not cheating, I mean if you go to Mac Donald's everything is mac, mac fries, mac sundae etc, you have to keep using beagle so the customers know that is another quality beagle production.
34:44 ...SUGGESSTION??????? or at least, *I* would have a pole on the STARBORD BOW point of the cabin with a MIRRIR on it, stickin up above the roof a lil bit, and put a CAMERA SCREW MOUNT on the top of it even 2 for... ;) at least for docking and gettin up on the trailer, MAYBE EVEN TO JUST SEE THE BOW OF THE BOAT !!! BUT... I can see a beneifit of lookin at that spot and SEEING THE ACTUAL IMAGE OF THE BOW AND WHAT IT IS ABOUT TO HIT RIGHT THEN :) hehehe well what it is DOING RIGHT THEN LOL
I personally like having the helm inside for weather
@@backwatersandbackroads was suggestion for the dudes little shakboat ;) so HE could see the BOW and the immdeieate area in front of the bow ;) IF HIS EYES ARE THAT GOOD I DONT KNO IF MINE WOULD BE ANY MORE!!!! but... at ONE TIME I woulda been able to ZERO right in on a little 6 or 8 inch mirror sat there right aat the starbord bow corner of the CABIN ... ;) or maybe even on the other side?? on a little twist pole so you can angle it so if sun is hittin it BADLEY GETTIN INTO EYES you can change it up... withought having to PUT IT AWAY... (in a place/space/limited area and watnot) hehehe
That's going to be the fun part and getting all the way around you going to have to thank and invent or use so many different things that would never come into your mind right now but halfway to the thrill trip you will say.uh @@backwatersandbackroads
👍🙋
I bet if he put a SE hydrofoil and a 4 blade prop on that motor he could get back on plane

@@backwatersandbackroads I thoguht about how long I been saying the ''says I was born in 66 you figgure it out....'' thing, and it's been since I was in my 20s!! lol the ''fact'' is AT ONE TIME IN YOUR LIFE EARLIER YOU THOUGHT WHAT *AGE* YOU ARE NOW IS *OLD* ;) sooo if we REPROGRAM THAT VERY THOUGHT to ''YOU ARE ONLY AS OLD AS YOU FEEL AND THINK YOU ARE!!!'' we are ancient beeings been alive SOULSPIRIT has been alive for milinninninia's thousands of years... thousands of lifetimes....... WE ARE NOT NEW :) but THOUGHTS DEEDS WORDS matter, so GOOD THOUGHTS GOOD DEEDS GOOD WORDS And no thing but GOOD , leave zero room or energy into that OTHER CHOICE.... and EXPERIENCE WHAT LIFE IS !!!! that is LIVING IT !!!! :) LIVEING LIFE IS WHAT LIFE IS :)

Where is the steering spot
Ted drives from.the back deck

Sure ;)
why do all you guys Up North Drive Tee yodas Whats wrong with a Chevrolet or Ford..
You're full of complaints today Stan ;)
In Florida we drive Toyotas as well
Not the style of Boat Those Yamaha 4 strokes are WEAK very WEAK a 35 2 stoke will out preform them
What are you talking about Stan? Yamaha 4 strokes are probably the overall best outboards made and sold. I have 2 60 HP 4 strokes and had many other Yamaha 4 strokes. I can't think of problem one I've had.
one more Who would want to Drive from the Rear... Talk about Backwards....... NO
Watch some narrow boat videos from the UK.
Well behaved beagle!!! Rare!
😂 I understand! My daughter, when she was little, was given a Beagle puppy by a friend who kept a small pack for rabbit hunting. We discovered, to our dismay, that Beagles are counted among the hardest dogs to house train. 😱
@christopherrnoto I had no problem house training mine. She learned real fast doing biz outside meant a treat.
