    Chuck Norris has never respected Bruce Lee.
    Martial artist and actor Chuck Norris has over the years,always put himself on the same level as the late and great Bruce Lee. In fact he got his start in films from Bruce Lee.

    I agree with everything you said in your video. In all the interviews I've seen of Chuck Norris, he never ever acknowledges that Bruce Lee was the superior martial artist. He always says that he worked out and spared with Bruce Lee, but never says that Bruce Lee was the best. In all the years I've watched martial artists, nobody comes close to exhibiting the skills Bruce Lee had. In short BRUCE LEE IS STILL THE BEST MARTIAL ARTIST, PERIOD

All Chuck seems to have said is that he was a world champion and bruce lee was not, and that's a fair point.. and it doesn't deny that bruce lee was more famous.. Chuck Norris has not disrespected bruce lee at all. And sure Bruce was way more intellectual and a genius and created a whole fighting system.. nobody is really denying bruce's greatness.. certainly not chuck.. But it's amusing that you threw in as an argument that a child has a poster of bruce on his wall and not chuck, is just so unanalytical, such an unintellectual, not just unintellectual.. anti-intellectual argument. Like in any conversation.. who is a better footballer.. the one my son has on his wall.. I can't even imagine that argument working in a pub after people have had 10 beers. If you put 10 non-thinkers in a room, and let them talk for 3 hours, they may well not come up with an argument as mindless as that one of yours about the poster on your son's wall as some kind of evidence of who is better.

      With all due respect to Chuck Norris, he was at best a good martial artist, but Bruce Lee in comparison was exceptionally superior and Norris new it. He would never give full credit to an Asian. Norris, in fact had some sort of working relationship with Bruce Lee, but in my viewpoint, this is all it was. He was fortunate to have been graced both with the presence of such talent as Lee, but he was looking to rise to stardom on the back of Bruce Lee. Without Bruce Lee, Norris would have never reach the heights that he did. This is just real talk. Some want to state the fact that Norris was a pall bearer for Bruce Lee to mean that they were the best of friends, but i have been a pall bearer for someone years ago that i didn't even know... it was just a courtesy. So how does this seal the deal as it relates to friendship?...it doesn't. Take care Bruno..

    The fact is, all these so called point (games of tag) fighters went to Bruce after witnessing how awesome he was at tournament demonstrations. To be fair, Joe Lewis did actually take what he learned from Bruce into the full contact ring, with awesome results. However, according to Mito Uyehara, a student of Bruce, during demonstrations, Bruce would ALWAYS call out the names of all these so called "champions" to come up and try to block his attacks or spar with him, but they always declined, because they knew they were no match for Bruce's ability, even then in the mid 1960's. To be sure, the best so called fighters never came up and Bruce was forced to demonstrate on other sub par fighters (if you can even call them fighters) such as Vic Moore.
    If anyone wants to know who trained who, check out the DVD Bruce Lee, A Warriors Journey and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Both produced by John Little, who had permission to use material from the Lee estate, including specialized workout routines that were outlined by Bruce for Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis and Mike Stone, to name but a few.

    I started my martial arts career at the age of 5 because of the Karate Kid. I grew up without a dad so that movie resonated with me. I wanted my Mr. Miyagi. When I got older I started to discover Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jim Kelly and all these great legends. When I was in High School I had be competing in competitions for a few years and I met Norris during a competition. He was my judge. I actually tried an illegal move and he noticed it right away and disqualified me. He later came to me in the locker room sat down and was a very humble carrying guy. I told him that the guy I was fighting, his style was different and I couldn't figure it out and I was on a win streak and I wanted to become state champion...Norris pointed out that the guy's style was very elaborate and that I was actually wearing him down by footwork. He said that the guy was getting tired while I wasn't really breaking a sweat. From that moment on I never tried to do that again.
    Now after that meeting I wanted to learn more about Norris, Lee and the others. Before I went to college I took a year off to "travel abroad" and meet my martial arts heroes in person and get to know them personally or from their loved ones. I met the Lee family. Linda Lee Caldwell was very kind to invite me into her home and I also got to meet their daughter Shannon. We talked for a good 2 hours on Bruce Lee and I learned a lot about his life and just how much of an impact he had on the Martial Arts world. Shannon showed me these books tiny little notebooks and there were at least 2 boxes full of these small books and then another few boxes with bigger notebooks with his drawings and writings, journals and info. In one of these books there's notes that after Chuck Norris became the world champion he and Bruce Lee stayed at the same hotel. This is talked about online but not in the detail that I read in the books...but they stopped on Bruce Lee's floor and sparred from like midnight until about 5 am..and then Bruce in his worlds asked if Chuck would be interested in training when they both got back to Los Angeles...Linda Lee expressed that those two were always working out and developed a great friendship over the course of their training. Now here's the killer of it all. In these books, the reason Bruce Lee wanted to train with Chuck was because Chuck had techniques with kicks that Bruce Lee wanted to hone and there's drawings of these kicks. Now for Chuck, Bruce taught him to keep his punches short and with more power. Literally in these books there's drawings with norris' name in it...I think the republican politic comment isn't needed. Because their relationship had nothing to do with politics...Linda Lee told me that when Chuck Norris heard of Bruce Lee's death that it devastated him and to this day it's hard to talk about their relationship, because they had a close relationship.
    Now I will share this last bit. In one of his journals...Bruce Lee quotes that out of all the American fighters that Bruce Lee met, Chuck Norris was on a level that no other american was on and this was one reason he wanted him in that movie. Now he wasn't better than Bruce Lee...But from his words, of all the american fighters Bruce Lee met, Chuck Norris was on a level higher than any other american fighter.. So I humbly disagree that Chuck Norris has no respect or has never shown respect for Bruce Lee. There are so many students of his Black, White, Asian...that I have interviewed through my research for a book that Chuck Norris references a lot to his students about Bruce Lee. One of his students, James Arwood ( African American ) stated that during his childhood training with Chuck Norris, Norris would explain to him and his fellow students why Bruce Lee was so good and that he was on a level no one may never reach...James said he had aspirations to achieve Bruce Lee's potential but there were things about Bruce Lee's skill that people could not comprehend.
    Now one other thing that I want to say, I apologize that this is long...Bruce Lee trained from Ip Man that much we know. However, because Bruce had a different way of thinking and a different philosophy he saw flaws within his own teachings...Through the books that I was given to look at and from the Wife and daughter of Bruce Lee...Bruce Lee did take several techniques from other martial artist while he form Jeet Kune Do. However, he took those techniques perfected them and then taught them. So for an example Chuck Norris is known for many moves, but one will pull out is his roundhouse kick. Bruce Lee took that kick and perfected in away that Norris couldn't do and he made it 10x faster...Jeet Kune Do is a mixture of Martial Arts like some martial artist do, they learn several forms and then create their own and that is what Bruce Lee did, however he did it on a genius level. Linda Lee showed me something else that indicated that Bruce Lee was a genius and not just with martial arts but with a lot of things. His IQ was up their with some of the greatest genius of all time.
    Chuck Norris is an honorable man. I spent weeks interviewing him and his take on Bruce Lee and Martial Arts and being up close in person he doesn't strike me as a liar. The things he said ( i interviewed him first ) were some of the same things Linda and Shannon have repeated. Also if he has no respect for Bruce, he wouldn't to this day keep in touch with Linda and her family.
    Lastly I'm speaking on this as a Native American. I'm not white, or black, or asian. I don't care about skin color. One day we as a society need to stop referring to each other as a different race, because in actuality we're all the same race the Human race. We all just come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. I think mentioning the republican thing is not needed. Martial Arts isn't about politics and it never has been. If it was Asians made it that way and Bruce Lee broke that divide. However, people like Jim Kelly , Chuck Norris, & Bruce Lee never turned away a student based on race, politics or religion. The lesson I learn throughout my own investigation was that a lot of men respected Bruce Lee who also respected them...The thing about Martial Arts, the key traits I've learned is humble and humility. Bruce Lee never came out and said he was better than Norris or anyone else..so I think Chuck Norris and them not saying Bruce Lee was better than them ( However they have said it ) out right in public is because to them it's not about who is better. It's an art that each of them can learn from one another and they are just being humble about who was better. Shannon Lee said something that was striking to me...That even though at that time Bruce Lee was the best in the world...that we need to understand he was the best we knew about because he was in the spotlight, however there could have been someone out there during Bruce Lee's time that was better than him. Shannon said that there's always someone out there that is better than you at this...
    As a Martial Artist having a Black Belt. Being the only person from my tribe to know martial arts, I learned that Martial Arts is about community, it's a huge family and people shouldn't be trying to compare who is better than who because none of them tried to do that..They respected each other and learned from each other then passed on what they learned from Bruce and what Bruce learned from them...that is what Martial Arts is about...Sharing what you learn and passing it on. Not who is better and who is worse. Just thought I'd share. Linda Lee shared with me these words before I left after spending a few days with their family, "People like Chuck Norris, Jim Kelly, Joe Lewis, and others that Bruce Lee trained with are part of our family and they have and will always be a part of our family. Bruce Lee thought of them as brothers and they thought of him the same."

    My mother told me that Chuck Norris learned martial arts from Bruce Lee, She told me that When Bruce Lee died, and it came out that Bruce Lee took some sort of drug, which was a muscle relaxant , and it killed him, Chuck Norris acted like he didn't know him or learned from him because it had to do with drugs, at the time he didn't know what kind of drug that killed him. Like he didn't want no part of it, and she saw how Chuck Norris acts like he is better than Bruce Lee, like when Chuck Norris said Bruce Lee is a good fighter, but I am a professional, that really pissed her off. My mother is 64, and she is basically saying the same thing as you. I am 32, I seen the Chuck Norris texas ranger, and to me personally that show sucked. Most of the masters of Ju Jitsu and other systems, are traditionalists and practice the traditions of respect, honor and humility passed down from ancient times, but these new guys, speak brashly and disrespect grand masters at the drop of a hat.
    As far as Royce Gracie vs Bruce Lee or, any traditional REAL war-arts fighting system; take the fight out of a cage and put it in an open environment, where Bruce Lee's speed, "animalistic" agility, endurance and pure powers of chi could be unleashed. It would be like placing Royce Gracie in a pasture with a full-grown hungry mountain lion and the results would be the same...

    There's authentic video footage on RUclips which captures ( Jim Kelly ) during an interview before his passing in 2013 where he clearly mentions that Bruce Lee could handle himself extraordinarily well: Even against the big namers who were renown champions and clearly proved it in private sparring sessions with many of them including good crafty fighters who were all dangerously good with their feet as well as their hands. He stated that Bruce was untouchable and could go at it with anyone. The size of the opposition nor style didn't matter according to Mr. Kelly's statements. He also stated that Bruce literally took on quite a number of big name fighters back in the day and didn't fear anyone of them with his fighting prowess. Furthermore he spoke about Bruce's unbelievable speed his timing and power as being steps above them all and he hasn't seen a martial artist out there like him and as great as what he personally witnessed at these hidden from the world/underground sparring sessions. Prior to engaging in these brutal exchanges they would all consent to signing a gag order in order to protect the reputation of each fighter because of the magnitude of respect they received from the martial arts community as Kelly utterly made clear. Now since I don't think he's LIEing at all it seems like not only was Bruce Lee a tremendously talented martial artist/big screen motion picture industry iconic actor /philosophy master/ great teacher of martial scientific innovative liberalization of kinetic combat methods but a man who knew how to fight in actuality too! He was metaphorically described in comparison with Michael Jordan placed beyond Michael Jordan.

    Bruce Lee really put Chuck Norris on the map with that villainous character he played in "Way of the Dragon." Bruce originally wanted Joe Lewis to play that character who participated in that famous fight scene in the Roman coliseum at the end of the movie. I really wish it was Lewis who got to appear in that movie. At least Lewis spoke more truthfully and highly of Bruce Lee as a fighter. Lewis, the king of full contact karate, did say he sparred with Bruce Lee, and that Bruce, though a small man of about 130 pounds, hit as hard as a heavyweight (incredible) and was the fastest man with blinding speed that he ever had in front of him. Norris, a point karate champion and nothing more, actually had the audacity to say Bruce was nothing more than a technician and that he, Norris, was the real fighter. Ha ha! Was Norris on some kind of drug back then in those interviews? Nah, he was just an ungrateful, selfish fool who got a big head with his own fame and liked to put a great man down who was dead and couldn't defend himself. I did point karate back in the 70's, and man, it was a joke in terms of what real fighting is about. I knew it back then. Joe Lewis gives Bruce Lee the credit for inspiring him to quit the silliness of point karate (well, it does have some virtues in terms of developing one's timing and techniques) and to start getting into full contact karate which is about really hitting your opponent full out and trying to knock him out. Sorry, but Chuck Norris is a pretentious arsehole who has my deep disrespect. He's full of himself (probably was never in a real fight, or at least I never read about him having done so) ...and he even now has Jesus on his side, too, now that he's getting pretty old.

Joe Lewis who trained with Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris is on record saying Bruce Lee was a true fighter and had a fighters mind. Because he always till the day he died was trying to find the fastest, and most effective way to take you out! Joe said all the advice Bruce gave him worked in the ring! When ask who he thought would wind Joe answer was interesting. He said he didn't know. But he did say that Chuck Norris spent most of his training on forms and Kata. Greetings...Mr. Skie23 and Mr. Stroud
    .... A story. Chuck NEEDED Way of the Dragon. He was broke and close to broken. Semi retired and partnered with Bob Wall, their dojos were going belly-up. Real estate default. Estranged family life .Diane wasn't having it. The strain was there. Bruce was in Hong Kong two years running and breaking the rules to make a film outside of Hong Kong hiring white and black actors and doing the whole thing himself with little money. His studio contract satisfied, he was on his own spending someone elses money. He needed real martial artists who could take the hits. Goldenboys Joe Louis and Louis Delgado said no. No little chinese guy makes a punching bag out of Mr. California.The strain was there. Bruce heard about another golden boy and solicited. Bruce helped him. It was still business but Bruce reached out to this man Chuck. He was still ranked as champion in his division but as JIm Kelly once suggested, "Trophies don't pay the gas bill." Chuck and Bob needed a bailout. They both bit the supremacy nail and all it implied and agreed. Bruce asked Chuck to gain twenty pounds to look more formidable. What?.That really meant Chuck would be overweight and limited compared to Bruce looking like an ice sculpture which was the point . Chuck didn't want to look bad dying so Bruce twisted his arm and snapped his leg and left it up to Chuck for the neck break...to fight on towards irrational death? Not totally.
    That was Bruce's statement to white america for how he was treated in Hollywood and used it to seal his image as the Asian everyman who took on the Hollywood Goliath (racism) and sized him down by beating its prize stallion: the blonde blue-eyed superman. No longer kissing Hollywood ass, he would kick it by using Chuck as a surrogate. Chuck wasn't dense. He knew it and he rationalized it so it would not clash with his own champion image. Way of the Dragon was purely a bankable move for Bruce as a star on both sides of the camera. To Chuck, his presence gave the film class and was the mortar that sealed Bruce's stardom...in Hong Kong. He was a mandarin star...not a Hollywood star. Thats Chuck's claim to come. Besides, that little chinese film that would never get released in America.. Chuck went to another Hong Kong film with a bigger part. Another " little film" came up. Game of Death. Chuck said NO. Wasn't getting killed again. Chuck was offered the part of"Oharra" and said NO. He wasn't getting killed three times. Bob didn't care. He saw Warner Brothers. He got the part for "Enter the Dragon" and put in the word for Jim Kelly. Enter would do ok but not better than Steve Mcqueen who was Chucks buddy by this time.Then Bruce was GONE! WHOA! Enter the Dragon went stratosphere and so did Kelly and Bob for a minute. But no Chuck! Chuck missed the launch in America until it was decided to release "Way" in the states. Back in the saddle. If Bruce had lived, you would have never seen it..or Chuck perhaps? "Way" was changed to "Return of the Dragon" billed as a sequel to "Enter" and released August 4th 1974. It was the second tsunami from the first one called :Enter the Dragon" from an earthquake called Bruce Lee. Chuck and Bob and Kelly and everyone else rode that wave ever since...before Jackie Chan spoiled us and CGI ruined us.

      +shihanUKS Bruce made millions for Golden Harvest and prevented them from going into bankrupcy. Add to that, he formed his own company by his 3rd film. Who else has done that so quickly? His 3rd film, by the way, earned millions more than his previous 2 films for the company, so that's laughable to think that he was spending someone elses money. The story about Bruce asking Norris to gain 20 pounds has also NEVER been proven by any witnesses, other than Norris, who concocted it after Lee's death, to justify how flabby he looked in the film, compared to Bruce. In fact Newspapers at the time (1974) mentioned this several times, so I'm sure it got back to Norris and that's why he came up with an excuse for not even having a good mid section in that film, or any other film for that matter. Norris NEVER trained anywhere near as hard as Bruce did. Case closed : )

    • @shihanUKS
      @shihanUKS 9 лет назад +2

      +superstrangevideo ...your comment reflects the conventional rhetoric of that time along with other versions in print and thats ok but lets clarify from eyewitness account.
      Chuck was never a finesse fighter or aerialist displaying a poster quality physique. He was an average ectomorph frame, shy of 5'10, and a very toned 155 pds. fighting div. middle weight. He owned a backfist--reverse punch combo with a roundhouse kick follow up..and maybe a spinning heel kick if he felt you needed it. A limited arsenal not spectacular by cinematic standards now but he survived the business with it well into the eighties because he was super dedicated. That means when the film crew took their union break, he found an empty 18 wheeler trailer and trained. At least thats what he did on the "Code of Silence" set. There were black belts on set who were extras in his fight scenes and he would have class with these guys. Competitive atmosphere. Some felt the same as the tone of your comment. But Chuck engaged against the wishes of his agent and a nervous director. No punk though. He would show up before hair and make up call and run kata or bag drills. Very methodic. Methodic enough to keep eating for eight weeks for that extra weight. Witnesses or living witnesses? Whose living or dead on this list ? Does Bob Wall and Ken Knudson count? Taky Kimura? Jhoon Rhee? Byong Yu? Preston Baker? Howard Jackson? Pat Johnson? Who do you think told chuck what to eat if Joe Lewis didn't? Chuck and Bruce and these guys all hung out in each others hotel rooms! You think Chuck gained weight in seclusion? And Chuck is a hard gainer. Mr. Stroud knows who these people are as do I...personally.
      Mr. Stroud's thesis for these responses remains valid...but you are straining for effect to say chuck concocted the weight gain and lacked a consistent training ethic. Newspapers ignored or disparaged kung fu films in those days especially. Some papers are not credible hence the term tabloid. I know. I delivered them.
      An ode to Bruce's film revenue... It was Raymond Chow's money on a budget developed by Chaplin Chang based on a breakdown of Bruce's script. Chaplin did Enter the Dragon's budget as well. If Bruce needed something, the production manager got it via Raymond Chow, former hatchet man for the Shaw Bros. Believe me, Raymond still had a lot of Shaw in him after he left. You would not believe how he went after the Lee family after Bruce passed to make sure he stayed rich. That man retired some time ago leaving the studio to his daughter and sold his stock in the company for...200 million. Hows that for bankruptcy?
      Raymond paid the bills. Bruce rolled the film. Way of the Dragon did get reviewed by one chicago paper mentioning Norris in a chop socky negative way as did the whole film. It was unfortunate those films weren't taken seriously by mainstream critics in those days except in Chicago when my mom and I stood in line at the premiere on August 4th, 1974. The manager stood shaking his head in disbelief at the never ending line of the packed Oriental Theater. He was mouthing about how he would get fined by the city and the fire dept. This one could not be ignored. He was the one who called his buddy critic Roger Ebert of the Sun times to get down there and see this" Kato TV actor" beating the Godfather movie. And it was a 9am showing!

      +reginald stroud Greetings... This is for the comments left by some of these strange folks out here with all the foul language like chuck broke out their car window or burned a Bruce poster in a protest march in front of their house...is it that serious? Chuck....an ass wipe racist?! Uncalled for. Good or bad, Chuck is a colleague in the Martial Arts. Collegiality is to be respected. Martial Artists hate on other Martial Artists all the time but carry yourself with some grace ! Maybe Im biased considering my association with the films "Sidekicks" and "Code of Silence", which I thought was his best work. There is a code in the movie business that's highly romanticized but nevertheless just as silent...because it's real.
      Chuck had handlers and the code was do as told which he did just like the rest of us. Groom the Image. You cannot say or do or be seen or be photographed for anything that could become public text and be twisted when you are paid to uphold an action star IMAGE. First rule: disassociation. Divorce Bruce. Move on. Look...you know how many producers turned down "Breaker Breaker" before it finally got made because Bruce beat him in that other movie? He learned from that. Never admit or reason defeat even when people saw it happen. People saw Joe Lewis break his nose. They saw Louis Delgado floor him with a spinning mule kick. Chuck lost just as much as he won. Which do you promote until eventually people agree with you...like the public? Had committee meetings over that. Thats tough when you want to be a star (investment) after you got killed by a star in your first wide distribution film. How do we invent Chuck Norris? You must promote invincibility for the sake of the film. In the producer's eye, Chuck must be the greatest champion ever known. .Bigger than even you know who. His contract, for example, with New Line Cinema languaged that an actor who receives top billing will promote the film at all times with his personage. 24-7. No verbal or written references to other films previously performed in or persons ( active or posthumous) with previous or alleged association with your career ( which you dont own) will be credited or mentioned during the distribution and run of the film. Certain comments will remain mute or deflected until the post marketing ( dvds with never before seen or heard interviews) stratagem is activated pending box office performance. Chuck was a star, not an actor. He was a "persona". No matter what part he played, he was Chuck. He could never play MacBeth or do "Death of a Salesmen". He had one market and he had to protect it by making back investor dollars without any association to that " Gladiator fight" in Rome with a posthumous "legend". Handlers are P-A-R-A-N-O-I-D. You want to do "Texas Ranger" and go into syndication ( a gift) and get a percentage? Chuck followed the rules with a silent retirement worth a loud 82 million because he followed the code. Samuel Jackson will never discuss Denzel. No bigger censor than the dollar.

    I thank you and respect you for giving your viewpoint, but I've personally heard Chuck Norris give Bruce Lee much respectful credit on numerous occasions. Never is a powerful word. Bruce Lee was a phenomenal martial artist, but his popularity exploded in the early 70's as the result of his movies, and the fighting skills he displayed in those movies, in which he repeatedly defeated dozens of attackers at once . He was 5"7 and 135 pounds...you can't compare his fighting skills to those of a taller and heavier individual of a different weight class. It's difficult to say what his actual fighting skills were with no actual real fighting footage to go on, we can only speculate. We do know that he had a vast amount of martial arts knowledge which is evident from his books, and we do know how fast he was from the videos of his demonstrations, but again, I reiterate, without footage of him actually fighting, we can only speculate. I have heard both Chuck Norris and Bob Wall talk about actually training with Bruce Lee, and neither of them were disrespectful in their words about training with him or his skills. It has been my understanding from Chuck Norris that his movie career was encouraged by actor Steve McQueen. I have the greatest respect for Bruce Lee, and what he did for martial arts, and I have the greatest respect for Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis. Gichen Funakoshi, Fumio Demura, Dr Tsuyoshi Chitose , Jhoon Rhee, William Dometrich, Hidy Ochiai, Bong Soo Han, Park Hyuk Kusae, Hu Lee, Hee Il Cho, Aaron Banks, Yip Man, Dan Inosanto, and the multitude of other martial arts pioneers who paved the way for many of us to learn our beloved martial arts. There is no need for any of us to argue, debate, or speculate who is better than the other. That is not what martial arts is all about.

    I have read up on Mr. Chuck Norris and his Martial Arts background. Here is something which caught my attention and interest while reading about Mr. Norris. As I understand, Mr. Norris was serving in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in S. Korea for one year. Mr. Norris was a student of Judo or something to that effect when he suffered an injury to his shoulder or arm. He then found either Tae Kwon Do or Tang So Do while in S. Korea. Mr. Norris seems to have studied the art of Tae Kwon Do or Tang So for at least seven (7) months. Here is my question. If in fact Mr. Norris made his black belt in S. Korea during that tour, how did he manage to achieve the rank of black belt in under one year? I wonder if anyone out there might clear this up for me?

      Thank u Sir. I also studied Martial Arts in S. Korea when I was a soldier. I was in country for over 12 years in total. I studied TKD, Hapkido, and other Korean style martial arts. it took me over 8 years to make my 2nd Dan in Hapkido- its very difficult to learn but it was fun. I made my 1st Dan in TKD in that time as well. They Martial Arts program in S. Korea is very serious... fact is, there is no program where any Korean Grand Master can promise you a Black Belt in any time period, because we all learn at different paces... Finally, in S. Korea its not about money. it is actually about learning the Martial Arts well...

    A lot of these discussions stem from the fact that most people talk out of their asses and don't know the facts about either one, Lee or Norris. Once the facts are presented, most will still believe the lying celebrity, because of his "tough guy" persona, even though he's admitted to never even having been in a real fight and therefore done absolutely nothing to deserve such a rep. Btw, it was Lee who gave Norris his break into films back in 1969 with a film called The Wrecking Crew. How many times have you heard Norris openly give Lee his due credit for this? You got it, NEVER! Norris is a walking moron and if I saw him in person I'd tell him so. If anyone wants to compare fighters with Lee, Norris isn't even worthy to be brought up in the same breath. There were (even in the 70's) and are, far better athletes for one to compare with Lee. Norris don't even make the list to anyone who is in "the know".

    In his very own words, he didn't see and would not want to see his works as SPORTS but rather, "a way to express the human body," and he just doesn't fancy people taking it as sport in reality. So, he wouldn't even consider blending into wrestling or boxing cos he was a true fighter and he could cause lots of damages. Such a 2onderful interview and a great soul. Much love for The Great One, Bruce. Norris is just a learner.

    Bruce Lee's body build or type says nothing about his skill. Lots of people have incredible builds and they can't fight at all. Also the fact that chuck norris never answers the Bruce Lee question only shows that he shows respect for Lee. "I kicked his ass." Only an arrogant pick would ever utter those words.

      +Trino Ponce who are you talking too? I was responding to the assertion made by this man that you don't need to look further than his body build to see that he was a great martial artist. A great body build doesn't say anything about someone's martial arts skill. I think Bruce Lee was overhyped. We have no way of knowing what his skill level would be since he never competed at a high level. Domonstrations and exhibitions mean nothing. That's like giving a boxing title to someone just based on sparring sessions.

    Thank you for posting this video Mr.Stroud. I've felt the same way for a long time and the conclusion I've come to is that Chuck Norris has a big ego. If we look at what Bob Wall has said about Bruce, where he has only spoken respectfully, graciously and lovingly of Bruce and Bob Wall is one of the greatest karate champions ever, as we all know, then it is disappointing to see Chuck Norris and some other champions negating Bruce Lee's abilities and legacy.

      Yes, you are more than welcome. Regardless of the negative comments i have received about my comment, still doesn't change the truth. As i have said before, i am not saying Norris didn't like Bruce Lee, but he took advantage of the exposure that Lee afforded him. When asked in interviews about his and Bruce Lee's sparring or training together, Norris always switched to him being a 'WORLD CHAMPION'. It has only been in recent years that Norris and many others have started to give Bruce Lee his due, if you want to call it that, but they didn't do it during the seventies, eighties and nineties. Many of them are getting old and now i believe they have gotten all the success they are going to get, so now they mention Lee's ability.
      Thanks for your kind remarks..

      @amenkrahh 7 лет назад

      They didn't hate Bruce Lee. This is just your mind trying to deal with the truth, while at the sametime coming up with other fake reasons for what I am telling you to be untrue, sorry. Bruce Lee died of complication due to the over use of anabolic steroids. Sorry if this is hard to take, but there so many things not told to us and true history hidden from us. I mean look at "Hidden Figures". Hell do you think I am not mad about how I was never told about Black women working at NASA?? I got into the Martial Arts because of Bruce Lee like so many others. Do you think I was happy to learn the true cause of his death??? Blacks believe too much in the U.S. They would rather build Bruce Lee up as some great Martial Artists, than give the credit due to the many really talented Black Martial Artists that he (Bruce Lee) himself learned from. Bruce Lee's first student in the U.S. was Black, and taught him all about rhythms of our people. But even he was written out of the Bruce Lee story or given a minor roll at best.

    It does not matter what Norris said about Lee, what Norris says is irrelevant. Lee offered the "Colt" part from Way of the Dragon to Joe Lewis, who turned the part down due to his ego, he didn't want to lose on the big screen, so Chuck jumped at the opportunity. Bob Wall studied under Norris, and to this day Bob Wall says everything you need to know about Bruce Lee, Bob Wall seen Lee as unbeatable. Norris' ego has gotten in the way because he capitalized on Hollywood's offer, and even Hollywood needed him to be his own man to be able to sell himself to the public. Norris would have gotten killed by Ed Parker, and Ed Parker looked up to Bruce Lee. Both believed in spontaneous reaction, and both created a scientific street fighting system. Norris is not , and was never, on the same level.

      And let us not forget Chuck Norris's very first role in a movie (as an extra) which was entitled "The Wrecking Crew" Starring Dean Martin as Matt Helm. Very true. Many don't realize how contractually liable Bruce Lee was to Hollywood way before Enter the Dragon. Mr.Stroud, with the utmost respect to you kind sir. You seem very sincere and in giving your view on the subject also very honest about it. It would have been a great honor to know, let alone train with Bruce Lee. He was taken from us far to soon and so was his son Brandon. But since I was 3 when Bruce passed,I don't know much about him other than his films and interviews especially. I am a fan.
    When Brandon passed,it truly broke my heart! He inherited everything wonderful about his father. To this day you speak of any kind of the martial arts and his name is mentioned. People still have his posters on their walls.
    But as I was watching one of many things about Bruce Lee & people who trained with him, I ran across Chuck Norris speaking of Bruce Willis such love & respect and how much he learned from him & became great friends. Chuck said nothing negative in anyway. He was so sorry when Bruce passed.
    Maybe you know something no one else knows but what I saw and heard was nothing but love & respect. Hopefully you can find these posts, there are tons of them so you may have to hunt for a couple of minutes to find them.
    Maybe this will ease your mind & heal your heart. Blessings to you, kind sir, blessings.

    Chuck is a cookie cutter fighter just like John Saxon. This brother is teaching the flat out truth Bruce Lee is a legend and Chuck may be able to fight but Bruce has all the accolades and taught me to defend myself. I got my ass kicked in and out until I studied Bruce Lees thunder kicks and his enthusiasm gave me the edge I needed to make a difference in my life. . Chuck outweighs Bruce by a good 40 50 lbs so if he sat on Bruce, it may be game over, other than that, Chuck does not impress me

    • @CrossingFist
      @CrossingFist 7 лет назад

      michael delaney Actually, Chuck has all the accolades. Chuck won multiple world titles, while Bruce Lee never had a sanctioned bout. Guys like Chuck, Joe Lewis, Bill Wallace, Mike Stone, and Gene Lebell were all fighting regularly. Bruce had some interesting ideas on martial arts, and seems to have been a decent teacher, but the hero worship is ridiculous. In addition to Chuck's multiple black belts in Korean Martial Arts, he also holds black belts in judo and in BJJ under the Machado bros. Those are serious accolades.

    • @michaeldelaney3587
      @michaeldelaney3587 7 лет назад

      CrossingFist I don't doubt that Chuck could beat Bruce Lee, but what I do know, is that Bruce was an inspiration to millions and Chuck is but the shadow of Bruce. What made him inspirational in my opinion was his size, where he gave hope to those of us who are not carrying around 200lbs. He inspired blacks, whites, mexican alike but as you say he was more of a silver screen fighter but that wasn't really my point. Not to mention that I was only 13 or so when he made his presence known, where I and many like myself did not weight in on the fact that he was an actor more than he was a fighter.

    • @CrossingFist

      michael delaney I'm a fan of Bruce Lee's movies, though guys like Donnie Yen and Jet Li have taken the movie martial arts to a much higher level. 20 years ago, when I was a martial arts newb, Bruce blew me away. Now, I've met enough world class guys, both in sport styles like BJJ and traditional styles like Chen taijiquan, that I'm more impressed by legit skill than charisma and mystique. Bruce was quick and athletically talented. I'm 5'7", and 150 lbs dripping wet, so I get being inspired by the little guy, but Bruce was an actor who practiced martial arts and taught a bit (without his Sifu's permission). Chuck was a world champion fighter, who was given an acting break by his good friend Bruce Lee. Different categories, and I respect both men for what they are/were.

    • @michaeldelaney3587
      @michaeldelaney3587 7 лет назад +1

      CrossingFist Very true, but as I said, it was his inspiration that led to me being able to defend myself, not sure if I would have ever been touched by Jet Li or guys like Van Dam for the very reason that they didn't inspire me as did Bruce. I am also 5 7 but I was able to kick a guy who took out a Machete out of his boot at a street corner on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood where at a stand still I kicked the guy to the double yellow line without winding up as Bruce Lee usually does when he through his thunder kick, if it wasn't for him I would have been in wooden box

    I don't think you sir Reginald Stroud have any respect for Chuck Norris, he is a great martial artist and over the years i have never heard him say a bad thing about Bruce lee but only good things..that should be enough to show that he respected the man. And why should he always have to praise Bruce Lee. Chuck Norris was a world champion before he even stared in Return of the dragon.Bruce Lee was the one who called chuck Norris because Chuck was a world champion at the time..Chuck has always said that they were good friends and they worked out together, kicked bags, punched bags together, and that Bruce made the fight scene look like two gladiators were fighting each other..He does not have to say anymore than that, that's good enough.Others like Joe Lewis don't even say that or Michael Jai White and more. But i respect all these fighters, i think they are all great and they don't have to praise Bruce Lee all the time.We know Bruce was great too..

    well there was a video on RUclips that was basically a recording probably a radio interview or something of that kind I don't know if it's still up, if it is it's probably easy to find, But Chuck Norris in his own words in this old interview says that he could never have beat Bruce Lee. and that was said at a time when he was more sure of himself rather than later interviews a decade later where he would skirt the question and say that they never fought and they would never try to figure out who was better so a young Chuck Norris I would believe over the man he later became.

      Amen! These people idolized Bruce Lee and God does'nt like that! They keep saying he's the best yes, just that era in the 60's- 70's only until he passed. When he started entered in movie business he brought and showed his talent and ability in martial art so that's the time that he became famous,. He's not the reason why Chuck Norris where he's at now? Steve McQueen who's the one encouraged Chuck to get in in the movie business not Bruce Lee.

    BEING Middle Eastern in decent, of Lebanese extraction, whose ancestors were proven by the Genographic Project of the National Geographic Society to the Canaanites/Phoenicians, I of course take offense to this man's racist Afrocentric revisionism @10:00. If he knew anything about the peoples of the Levant, then he would know that we are indigenous to it, and that we are also Caucasoid in race and of the Mediterranean extraction, not Negroids.

      the people in the levant today are not the same people who are there back then the bible describes jesus having wolly hair skin of bronze that had been burned in a furnace that you just your comment didnt even make sice because you just said that you come from the caucasoid race who is the johnny come late of the human race

      WRONG, genius. If you were learned, you would know that anthropologists simply say that humankind that it's genesis in East Africa.
      Now, if you're implying that Negroids engendered nonblacks, as many black racists do to justify their black supremacy, then in actuality you're saying that we nonwhites are the next stage of human evolution and the rightful heirs of the Earth. :)

    If you have any of Chuck's older interviews where he talks about Bruce Lee let me know. The most recent interviews I've seen of him he was asked directly if he could have beaten Bruce Lee in a fight. He said he didn't know and they didn't want to go there. He did remark that he was a professional fighter. He acknowledged the Bruce Lee was good. In another video Chuck stated that he believed he and Bruce Lee would have done well in MMA. I don't like Chuck's political views at all but he seems to have respected Bruce Lee as a Martial Artist. If this was not always the case please show me some older interviews.

    When darkness falls the pest,vermins,vultures and pathogens gather,when the light comes they scurry and hurry away! It's quite unfortunate that people think the only way to stand tall is by putting people down and even standing on them.A trillion years of lies cannot eclipse a million second of light,TRUTH is Light thus cannot be hidden. Thank you Grandmaster for staying true and spreading truth,God Bless you and yours for Truth propagates peace,justice,happiness...all the best sir.
