I'm active service navy working in a squadron that operates MH-60R (anti-submarine, surface combat, and search and rescue variant of the UH-60). The flight ops personnel, the handsignals, the time to launch and the chain of events. It's all massively different.
That start is not by the book by any sense of anyone's imagination.... By the book is crew chiefs standing within pilot view at the 1 and 10 pretty much with your hand on the nose and on coms...when the apu shuts down Both crew chiefs strapped in with the right side grabbing and securing the chocks... Ready right ready left and we are on the go
The guy in the front has no business being there... When a crew chief with 3000 hours tells you to put your hand on the nose during start up and you watch the blades droop down well below. Head cut off you'll understand Why sergeant gets so mad

unless we restrict you to airtaxi or you;ve been cleared for take off VFR from that position. I admit. That guy pulled back harder than i've ever seen. But being former ATC, you never know what shitty situation we just put the pilots in. :) whoops
thats how it takes off! man that took awhile to start up! i wonder if the Zombie Apocalypse happens this will be the scenario: you start the engine and it will be awhile to get it on! for this scenario youll be defend the chopper in seconds or minutes against the zombies coming at you
If you think think this startup is long, try starting an F15 or an F22 , I know they're not helicopters but during startups while not on scramble . The startup procedure is long with all the preflight checks and stuff. Beautiful aircraft though

I flown in them in Iraq in 2006 and when I left active duty from the Army I worked at Sikorsky making them.

It is strange seeing the rotors slowly come up with the engine start. I'm used to seeing the navy/marine units with the rotor clutch/brake.

Why can't you see them? On the nose, engine cowling, tail fin and unit name in thai language on the cockpit doors.
