Always in awe of these incredible machines. Love watching them fly over my house towards the local base. My son's been an Army Black Hawk pilot instructor since 2010 with several deployments. It takes a toll on the body after more than a decade. Great video!
My dad was a Huey pilot in the Army and when they were decommissioned he transitioned to the black hawks for the last 20 years of his career and loved every minute of it
My twin has been taking these apart, inspecting and rebuilding them for 15 plus years as a civilian. He has a opportunity to be a crew chief again on the Blackhawk. He started his career back in 90 on the Huey. I am so proud of his accomplishments!
I would tend to think so, especially for Antisubmarine Warfare. All it needs for that is ASW Torpedoes, Sonobouy dispenser, Magnetic Anomaly Detector or a nice dipping sonar, and you're good to hunt enemy submarines 😊.
Ooh yeah I love the sound of those engines and rotors. Such mechanical marvel. Also, you're pretty cool for being so close to those rotors whipping around like that. I would never feel comfortable that close.
Hey brotha, Jong Park here and I’m out at the Hump in Dragon Flight. Im actually signed for 084 right now so it’s freakin awesome to see in in a youtube vid! Keep doin what you do and best of luck!
Mark Huneycutt That is a true statement, and you won’t hear me call out fire because I will be running away from the aircraft screaming like a small child.
I miss these. Hubby was a Blackhawk IP after being a UH-1 door gunner in Vietnam Nam. I was fortunate enough to go up with him at Ft. Campbell as a civilian “potential jump team member” in 1989. I got air sick but it was worth it. 🙂
I was working for Sikorsky when they were announced the winner of the UTTAS competition against Boeing Vertol. I worked for them for 33 years including a two year stint in Israel. I had my one flight in the back of the aircraft during a delivery acceptance flight. I was sound deadening material during a cabin noise test.
I love helicopters! I wanted to be a rotor wing pilot but unfortunately I have type 1 diabetes so no helicopters for me, at least I still free fly paragliders. Mark your videos are great!
This looks like South Korea! I was the ATC for the Hongcheon Twr in ROK Army. I could tell this is south korea by the color of the lines in the ramp and the indian head on your uniforms :)
I was Air Assault Infantry nearly my entire career. We used to go everywhere in Blackhawks when they replaced the UH-1's They were a lot smoother and quieter, especially with the doors closed.
Old Army. I've been on Hueys and Chinooks but the Blackhawk is after my time! I'd love to experence a flight in one. My scariest flight was on Okinawa in 72. Typhoon Rita was coming back for a second hit on the island and my team had to go to the north end of the island to recover some high $$ signals equipment off towers used for Vietnam comms. Conditions were marginal at the best but it had to be done. I could see the altimeter and it was doing up to 500 ft drops and climbs!!The pilots looked like they were playing drums they were so playing those collectives! The 2nd Lt next to me turned greener than our uniforms and hurled! I watched it come out hang then return and soaked his ass! Pilot had us open the door so the rain could wash some of it out of the AC!! There Is NO rollercoaster built that can imitate that flight that I have found yet OR the climb up a metal tower that was twisting like a shoebox! When you get back ya gotta pull some strings and take me flying on one!!

pretty cool video mark , are you a helicopter pilot also. I just finished training in the blackhawk intruder 250 quad with 42 wing . you and tucker got this army retired , 70 yr old off the couch and into the air 😊👍
My mother's boy friend flew on in the army. Afterwards he flew offshore oil rig crew trips. I forget the name of the movie but it's with Burt Reynolds where the chopper flew through the hanger. He flew that movie scene. Byron stone was his name or stoney for short. Thanks for the video
Some awesome footage! Thank you for not putting shitty music over it. I love the sound of the mighty hawk! I miss doing this everyday. I just get to fly the Level D sim now as we a retiring them soon.
That's an awesome video. You should hook the audio up to ICS system. I have spent 6 years as a contractor for the IVHMS System on Blackhawks and have deployed for 2 years (Kandahar in 2007 with the 82nd and Camp Taji, Iraq with the 1st Air Cav in 2010) and miss those days of working on helicopters. I spent 12 years as a Marine Helicopter Avionics Tech and love watching your PPG videos, as well. Thank you for your service and I hope you have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day in S. Korea. Worked on H-60s in the Navy. Being in the rotor arc when starting engines was a big no-no. We were always told if even the president would walk in it when starting to have him tackled lol.
Hopefully. It's not a chopper ! It's a helicopter , and if you must, a helo. I believe it's mainly Schwarzenegger who goes "Yeaaawwwgh, Hurry to ze chopper!!"
I flew Cobras (and Hueys) most of my career. During UH-60 transition IP (unbeknownst to me) pulls #1 back to flight idle while we're waiting to takeoff at the stage field. Like a dummy, I just sit there hovering waiting for him to request takeoff clearance. Oh yeah...two engines good!
Fly O hahaha...reminds me of the time our Charlie Model gunship in Vietnam started itself when the battery switch was turned on. We were both like WTF! But ran it up to 6600 rpm, cleared left-right-overhead and took off! How ya write that one up in the -13? Maintenance thinks pilots are all crazy anyway. 🤣
NOTHING frightened me more than a hot one. Smell, feel, shaking, vibrating... VOMIT. GOOD TO GO!!!!LETS GITSOME. YOU AIN'T ALIVE TILL YOU EMBRACE THE SUCK.
Hell yes. More heli videos. Didn’t know you were in the military let alone a heli pilot. Much respect. The closest I’ve come to helicopter is flying RC heli. Very difficult to fly. Can’t imagine the real thing.
Cool video. I noticed the stabilator was like the one on the UH-60A (my baby) instead of the Seahawk stabilator I see on the "L" models from the 101st. By the way, back in my day (1983 - '91) we never got to fly with the cockpit door removed.
That style stab was on all UH A/L's. The folding kind that you're talkimg about are on the newer UH M's as well as the SOAR birds regardless of model...
i was not a pilot either but an old huey mechanic, crew chief and TI, "was just an MP", you're full of it, an MP was/is just as important as anyone posting here dude, don't sell your job short. i know what you put up with and had to do, i had a couple of buddies who were MPs. you put your life on the line everyday like we all did. and that goes for ALL who served in uniform in all branches.

One of the Best start-up video's I have seen. Timing was perfect moving the camera around. Awesome job guy's!!

Guy standing next to it with a tiny fire extinguisher: Don't worry, I gotcha covered
LOL its only for Optics
Enough to put out a person or a small electrical fire I guess.
The fire extinguishers are for putting fires out on people. It's part of the crew brief. Let the heli burn
