I love how this movie took The Little Red Haired girls face never being shown to us in the comics and used that to emphasize the message. She couldn’t accept Charlie Brown’s feelings until he accepted himself.

I often wonder how she was even able to appear in person in a few of the specials (the first kiss, Snoopy musical and new year's ones. With the former even revealing her name to be Heather) since it might've contradicted the point of her physical absence from the strip. Guess the stories told in those specials left Schulz and the animation staff with no option but to show her off for once. And with how loose the continuity of Peanuts usually is, those specials could take place after the events of the movie, who knows.
Anyway, her design in the movie does appear to be a hybrid of her look for said older specials and her lone silhouette cameo from the strip, which was a nice touch if intentional.

I'm finding this video much too late, but as a long-time Peanuts fan and fan of the movie, I'm so glad you made it!! I especially agree about the fanservice point - the film is PACKED with fanservice done perfectly right. The ultimate one for me being that the Little Red-Haired Girl gave Charlie Brown the time of day at the end of this one, something that had never happened in the canon except maybe the occasional one or two throwaways in some of the specials, and... After over 50 years of Charlie Brown failing to get her attention in the comics, the movie capping this arc off in such a sympathetic way after the author's death is such a lovely, optimistic tribute in my opinion. It may not have been a carbon copy of what canon did, but it understood the character of Charlie Brown perfectly and finally rewarded him for decades of effort.

I haven’t seen any of the source material, but I love how faithful this film adaptation is. It doesn’t try to modernise it or throw these peeps into the real world. It doesn’t cast terrible, overpaid celebrities as iconic, beloved characters, completely bastardising them in the process. It deadass straight-up is a Peanuts Movie, brought to life in the best way possible!

I like how they don't place emphasis on the romantic side of Charlie Brown and Heather's relationship. I've seen instances where they'll treat children like adults when it comes to romance, but they don't do it here. It helps strengthen that it was never about the lovey-dovey. It was about her recognizing who he was on the inside.

Most of the peanuts stuff is underrated. And some people wear snoopy clothes without knowing who he is or what he’s from.

Man, I wish Blue Sky was still around not only for more people to recognize this being amazing, but I also feel like they could’ve had so much potential to make more great films like this.
Also, I can’t believe how close Will from ST was able to match Peter Robbin’s voice for Charlie.

Wow, SOMEONE APPRECIATES MY FAVORITE MOVIE!!! The reason I like it more than any other movie was a) I was 9 when I first saw it in 2016 and Charlie brown's story and message resonated with me more than any other movie since and b) even though I have seen movies that are better than the peanut's movie since, I know deep down we are never going to get a film like this one for a while since all the film trends are going in a different direction. So glad you made a video about it, you earned my sub.

What makes this a good film is that Shultz family was involved .You know if Blue Sky didn’t have the Shultz family involved they would have messed it up

Anyway, that aside, what a beautiful movie analysis. This movie really was one that completely caught me off, guard. It made me feel good in a way that movies tend to miss out on while keeping to the original source material perfectly.
When I first watched this movie, the first thing I was thinking was "if this was the final chapter of Charlie Brown's story, it would be a perfect ending" Because we finally see Charlie Brown become something more than just the bad luck guy, seeing past his flaws, and someone else recognizing that within him
    So beautiful. ^^

I’m quite a Blue Sky apologist myself before and after they shut down. Because of that, I went to see this movie when it first came out. I was about 11 at the time and I didn’t have much experience with the source material. Yet I still really enjoyed the movie. Especially the ending where the girl respects Charlie for who he is as a person not for how his actions pay off. It’s a relatable moral to me and was one of the first times I got emotional (cause I was young at the time). It’s also how Jewel should have treated Blu in Rio 2 (which I saw the year before and didn’t like even as a young boy). Rewatching Peanuts it hold’s up so well that I started collecting and reading the Peanuts comics. It’s a property that I have really grown to enjoy.
    However
I still don’t think Peanuts is Blue Sky’s best. Even if it is, you can blame the Schulz family in the screenplay department (That’s right, Peanuts is the one movie, Blue Sky had help with). There are actually 5 Blue Sky movies I feel passionate about (After rewatching them as a young adult) and rate 7-9 out of 10. These Include Ice Age 1, Robots, Rio 1, Peanuts and Spies In Disguise. With that I disagree with your opinion that Peanuts has the most to analyse. Ice Age 1 for example sources on not just the message of family but the overall historical background and conflict of prehistoric. The more I revisit it the more details I notice therefore I could talk about it longer than the Peanuts Movie. I also rate Ice Age 1 a bit better than Peanut’s I think it has slightly better editing, pacing, comedy, character arcs, and emotional core than Peanuts. Furthermore I do have some problems with the five Blue movies I feel passionate about including The Peanuts (like slow pace), these problems hold these movies back from being Blue Sky’s Spiderverse.
In the end I still have great respect for Blue Sky as they did craft 5 movies I love. I hope some company either put’s them back together or makes a use out of their artists.

Excellent analysis, so much so that now I want to see this movie again! I was a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s. When this film came out I was sure I would hate it. Usually when filmmakers try to “modernize“ an iconic story and/or characters, they just seem to mess it up, and I was expecting the same here. But I loved this movie and felt it was really true to Charles Schultz original ideas. Thank you for letting me know about the background of the creators behind it. I’m sorry that Blue Sky is no longer running. But I appreciate the movie that much more for all the hard work and care they put into it.
