So nice to see the heart of the boat is in, looks great with the tiles. Nice to see you smiling, all projects eventually make you wonder “why did I start” but nothing that’s easy is worth as much, loving the vids 👍
Spot on job with the fire, looks great. love the warts an' all approach to the filming too, we all struggle with one thing or another and its good that you show those times to, rather than the "Ta da ! there it is"approach.
Cheers Stuart, our aim was, and is, to show what its gonna take to do this. Hopefully its a real life view, thats why we cover costings as well, especially in the current climate. Glad you like the vids, it makes it all worthwhile.
Thanks Dean, It feels like a milestone. Kitchen units should be ready this week as well. Then we can order worktops. Getting fairly close to being done in this half of the boat, then we will look at the bedroom.
Fire looks great. I like the burgundy/wine red tiles. I liked the solution you found to reducing the brass fitting to 22mm. Great problem solving skills!
Another awesome install, love it. The colours you and Fran are choosing are spot on. You asked me previously if we live on the boat still. Not at the moment, when the world closed down we were locked down back here in New Zealand. With the world starting to open up again, we will continue our adventures on our yacht, we just need to nail the retirement plan first 😂.
The holy grail of retirement plan, we are both very ready but need an income. A long story, but we haven't got that retirement nest egg to rely on so we will need to keep doing something. Always wanted to visit New Zealand, just sounds incredible, I certainly like the idea of a yacht down there. Thanks for the positive comment Nicky.
Well done love the whole stove and surround. Just starting a bathroom project in our static caravan ,putting in a real flush toilet, shower stall, vanity, medicine cabinet, and possibly washer and dryer hook-up. Lots of work anyways we will crack on too.
Great installation, fire looks amazing, lots of work but well worth it, I’m sure it will keep the boat toasty during the winter. Another job ticked off the list keep it up ! Cheers, Nigel
Another great vid. That fire looks grand. Now I’m inspired to crack on with my own jobs around the house, so I can sell it. First job, deplastering, sealing and replastering 4 walls. I’m glad the comments from many of us helped perk you up.
Great to see you back on form today. Very interesting to see how you put it all together. Looks warm and toasty. It’s coming along nicely now. Keep up the good work. Have great week.
Ah, thanks Sandy, much appreciated. Fire has been a huge hurdle, even if the tank needs fitting, we are glad to have that done. Yes, hope you have a good week too.
Hi Helen, thank you. We are pleased with it. We have a snagging list for the saloon area of the boat, only 23 small jobs lol. The bigger jobs are never ending, lots to come.
Howdy Marty and Fran. Love the fire setting and Marty I am so happy to see you in better spirits. Your smile snd great sense of humour is worth so much to the vlogs. Stay safe and catch you next time. Cheers Keith.
Hi Guys. New subscribers here. Diane and Dave on narrowboat TickertyBoo. Love your channel!! Slightly famous. Having just seen ourselves on the 'Narrowboat Family' channel last night. I'm in the process of building a Multifuel stove. along with Plynth etc. You have really inspired me . Thanks. Would you mind telling me where you got your stove pipes, please? See you out there one day. Best regards Dave and Diane
Hi guys, sorry for the delay. I get them from a company in Redditch that make stainless exhaust supplies. They are on ebay under everyexhaustpart.Good to know we gave you some ideas. Its all a learning curve.
Outstanding installation,I've always been fascinated by stoves with back boilers. Not a thing here in States unfortunately. That stove is so traditional looking and that dial adjustment cool. We have similar expressions I like the brits, shows class. Keep up the good work guys.
Hi Ross, will be in the engine bay and will be a 12v Webasto pump attached to a Thermotop C. A bit of engineering will allow that to run with stove or Webasto. Saves a lot of cost and changeover valves etc.
So many questions this week. Just ignore them if your busy. Is it a multifuel stove or just diesel? Your engine fuel tank is at the stern? Do you have to pay a different rate for diesel depending if its for heating or propulsion? Nice to see Fran back aboard. Its amazing how much work there is in this one little corner. How in the world would you go about pricing an install for a customer? I just do time and materials mostly because I couldn't figure out how to do an estimate. Good vlog this week!
Hi Bryan, stove it just diesel. Our fuel tank is at the stern, we are having a custom tank made for the bow. Yes we pay a lower rate, although like all fuel at the moment that as increased too. I don't do job quotes very often now, I normally charge by the hour. I don't install stoves for customers I just do Webasto heating only. How are you doing with your project? Fran said Hi, she does her little bit to help when she can.
Ah, yes Larry, a higher melting point. There is something about solder joints on boats that does not sit well with me. Silver solder allowed on diesel lines but not gas at all. Its all because boats move, twist, expand and contract. And for me personally, I can always tweek a leaky compression joint, but solder is a drain down, which on a boat is a pain in the a**.
Hi Paul, yeah, thats a nice little thing. Only thing is its rated up to 120 degrees. The fire valve will trip at 100 degrees C but that seems too close for comfort to me and possibly body of stove would be much higher. I'll ponder that though, and thankyou for the suggestion.
If you're going old school on the boiler fittings, use hemp and Boss white on the threads, not plumber's mait. Personally, I'd use plenty of PTFE, with a dab of Fernox LSX. The label on that shut-off valve said it tripped between 60 - 75 C. That's not really hot enough for central heating, unless you fit extra-large radiators. Ex-plumber, BTW. It's a shit job, but lucrative.
Your name is hilarious! Boat life a bit different, Webasto's only go up to 76 degrees anyway. So will be a similar thing on the boiler, it was recommended by Bubble so will roll with it initially, they have been spot on so far. Plumber or electrician, both lucrative, but its a hard life mate as you well know.
Hi Howard, There is not a check on CO alarm heights, only distance to doors to other accommodation spaces, condition and if they are correct type and in open view. I would only suggest they are installed to manufacturers instructions. For this Fireangel its recommended horizontal distance is 1 to 3m from a potential source of CO. As far as height goes, "located close to the ceiling, higher than the top of and window and at least 150mm from the ceiling" to quote MI's. CO is slightly less dense than air, so it will rise to high points in a space. Hope that helps.
@@narrowboatmoonshine thank you that means I did not have to make more holes in my wood work. Just make sure it’s 150 from the roof that’s about 6 inches I did notice you put yours closer say 25mm was there any benefit to that ? Thank you for reply your boat looking well
Hi Howard, well I can't put above a window and 150mm below ceiling as there is not enough space. It is, however more than 150mm from ceiling highest point. Its a compromise sometimes, I will also fit one in bedroom when it comes to it. Here is a link to the BSS check list FYI www.boatsafetyscheme.org/media/299273/bss-examination-checking-procedures-core-private-boat-public-interim-complete-compress.pdf

Love the fire, it looks ace! unusual colour for tiles but looks good just that burst of colour.
Thanks Jes. It’s all grouted and finished now, that’s in next video up today. Also there’s a lighting demonstration with flame pattern. Enjoy.

Thanks Neil. Good luck with that too, small space as well which makes it more challenging. Appreciate your support.
Loving it looking good won’t be long your both getting there you’ll be off before you know it
Thanks Caroline. Think we are a little way off, but doesn’t the sunshine change the mood?
Great installation, fire looks amazing, lots of work but well worth it, I’m sure it will keep the boat toasty during the winter. Another job ticked off the list keep it up ! Cheers, Nigel
Cheers Nigel, yes that was a big one, only thing left is the diesel tanks which should be straight forward enough. Thanks for the positive comment.
The fire looks stunning 👍👍
Thanks for a great vlog and as a new subscriber I'm playing catch up with your earlier videos. Take care and all the best. Stevie
