My dad used to take me here a lot. I remember seeing John Wayne's eyepatch from true grit on display here as a kid. It's an excellent museum and I'd suggest it to anyone interested in American history. It's truly a world class museum. By God, do I love my state...
Thank you for this, Jerry. Your documentaries take me to places I’ve never been to and, most likely, never will, though one never knows. At least I am being educated on all that’s available to visit…just in case. I am very grateful.
The thumbs up wouldn't work! So just know , huge thumbs up. This statue was in our Mooney Grove Park in Visalia, Ca. So grew up with this fabulous statue. It is where it belongs. It's stunning.
I’ve been to this museum twice and there’s always something different to see. I enjoy going and seeing each time I visit. I fully recommend this museum to everyone. It will be money well spent just to see the exhibits. Thank you Mr Jerry Skinner for sharing your visit.
Another Sunday waking up to a Jerry Skinner documentary, how much better can that be. Thanks again Jerry, would love to visit that place but age and health won’t allow me to. I now have a good idea of what it looks like thanks to you. Please keep em coming my Friend. Augie and Jill from Winter Springs , Florida 🤠
Hello amigo Jerry loved your video and Museum visit. ❤ beautiful work of art Indian sculpture and horse. Looking forward to more of your work certainly appreciated.
Thank You Sir, How very Interesting this Museum is The Statues and that Beautiful Stage coach I guess some people rode in luxury lol Never knew also President Lincoln being a Cowboy who knew
Hello Jerry thank you for the museum visit (I love museums) If you ever come to San Antonio be sure to visit the BRISCOE WESTERN ART MUSEUM it is lovely, and very interesting. How sad the story of the Indian on horse work of art, so glad it was rescued and now adorns the National Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum. I got to tell you love your piece selection. Take care till next time amigo Elizabeth.
Nice! My step dad, who's currently in a hospice nearing the end of his trail unfortunately - was one of the co-founders of the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame (if ya ever make it up to NoDak).
Ole "Abe Lincoln," lived in a time, before there were cars and everyone rode on horseback, stagecoach, or buckboard. During the expansion west, the "Prairie Schooner," covered wagons were the main mode of transportation, for thousands of easterners, looking to move out west and seek their fortunes. And they were all pulled by horses, oxen, or mule teams. So while Abe might not be known for his cowboy skills, he might have had some. He lived in a time when many did.
I just found your channel and I'm very delighted, Jerry! Such a fresh way of telling these amazing stories and all the visual references you provide are just *chef's kiss*. Thank you! :]
@@JerrySkinner1943 Hello Mr. Jerry, 👋 we would love to see a new video from you! 📽 We love to hear you tell us about our country's history. 🗽Hoping you'll do one soon. 🙏 Have a blessed and restful evening, ✝ your hometown fans Charley and Deb. ❤
While in Oklahoma you might want to venture out to Enid, Oklahoma. Three law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty in Enid. Cal Palmer was the last Enid Police Department officer to be killed in the line of duty. He was killed July 8, 1936, by a known bank robber who planned to rob a beer hall that night at the corner of Broadway and Grand. E.C. Williams was killed June 26, 1895, and Thomas Radford was killed Jan. 10, 1906. Both men were city marshals. They too were killed at Broadway and Grand. It is just odd that they were all shot at basically the same location across time and history.
This day & age, Jerry? How can we discuss, think about, reflect on & speak about 'Cowboys' without acknowledgement of Clint Eastwood not to mention Cooper & Mix. Thanks for the Tour.
5:32. While Abe may not have been a cowboy, he lived a pretty rural, rough-and-tumble life when he was young. Just something that I find interesting about him.
That statue of the indian that was found in MOONEY GROVE, VISALIA, CA. WAS allegedly brought there in the first place, by one of my relatives..........or so i've been told.
I don't like the mixing of actors who really didn't ever have to work hard - some of which played heroes in movies but avoided military service because they were cowards (Mr, Wayne, we're looking at you, girly man) - with actual cowboys. Does this museum have actual cowboys, or just a bunch of wanna-be's and fakery?
I wonder how someone gets nominated to be inducted into the hall of fame. I think Kent Rollins should be there for keeping the the trail cook memories alive.
This is untrue about this Beautiful statue being neglected. It was at Mooneys Grove Visalia California and I loved this Statue as a little girl. No children were ever climbing on it because that would have been impossible to do because it was so big. Mooneys Grove was well kept park with a couple of lakes. We always had our Family reunions at the Park. I always wondered WHAT happened to our beloved statue , now I know. It should be returned to Visalia California where it’s home was in the park for people to admire and enjoy since WWI . I am now 67 years old 2023. I feel the people of Visalia California was robbed of their history . Everyone cherished this beautiful statue including my Mother having her picture taken in front of it while she was still in High School.
Thanks again for sharing, Jerry, Glad they found sculpture, and move it out of California to Oklahoma
My step-grandmother,Alice Dunn, worked there in the’70’s.Hope someone who watches this remembers her
Thank you, Jerry...

I don't get the Lincoln thing at all. Well done video, you just keep improving Jerry.
List me your top 10 history channels.
I'm surprised the cancel culture woke hasn't shut this wonderful place down.

I do not enjoy the constant overuse of future tense to describe events of the past.
Which is your e-mail, mr. Jerry?
