I think your gas piston has a leak. I have the same rifle and I’m happy with it except for the trigger.. I agree with your comment on the trigger

You should crono it with some lighter and heavier pellets just to see variations in power

Just subscribed to your channel, main reason that I don't agree with causing unnecessary suffering to animals and you mentioned that you don't either, although I have obliterated many a bluebottle with my HW100.I also want to thank you for saving me time and money because I was going to put the drop in kit to my HW97,I was rather put off!, all the best!

Mine is .22 and only the super heavy JSB Monsters fly without the supersonic crack.
Allready run more than 500 pellets through it but it's still smoking at the muzzle. (dieseling)
With copper coated pellets ricochet-ing it sounds like a western movie. :)
    Defenitly more than 9ft/p..
Perhaps your piston seal is damaged or something.

Than this is coused by dieseling. Normaly the 22 version is subsonnic. Even the 177 is subsonic.

@@Gieszkanne My Webley still diesels after a few years of use.
Guess there is too much oil in the gas spring system.

@@Romin.777 So now you actually have a firearm instead of an air rifle.😅

      @@Gieszkanne Yeah!
It does tumble the pellets in mid flight. My range is too short too hit with the point.. :))
      And the smell is typical.

There seems to be a lot of marketing spiel and other assorted crap from a lot of reviewers about a lot of air rifles, especially budget ones, whereby they try and make out they are exceptional bargains and are knocking out almost full legal power.
Sadly, I think in the U.K. they are mostly over-whimped by the manufacturers regardless of price and quality so as not to 'offend' or even break the law.
Sorry state of affairs really and well pointed out in your no-nonsense factual approach.
