    “My hair likes to be left alone.” Believe it or not ladies and gents. Fine natural hair thrives when you LEAVES IT ALONE. Does it mean sacrificing all the intricate styles we love? Yes. Does it mean you’re going to frustrated as heck with your hair? Probably. Will it grow quicker, thicker and healthier? Yes. Eat clean, drink plenty of water and stop extra stilling until you get your desired length. I wish you all the best on your hair journey❤👑

    This is great. I saw a short of you brushing your hair and it was literally the first time ive seen someone with my hair. Now I know I have FINE hair. The whole "are my ends split?" thing is my WHOLE life.
    After learning to eat right, stopped scratching my scalp so much, being GENTLE with my hair, and moisture, moisture, MOISTURE, my hair has grown longer and appears thicker and healthier. It really helps to know your hair!!

    Love this video and I love your energy! New subscriber🎉 I realized that braids were not helping my hair grow a few years ago…they were actually causing my hair to thin. Most AA women think that braids are the answer for hair growth but it’s not the case for everyone. Thanks for the tips!

      It's interesting to hear that you also realized that braids were not helping your hair grow. Similarly, I used to think that it was helpful but it really is not for my fine strands. At this point, I think braids are mainly a beautiful style, but that's about it when it comes to fine natural hair. Interestingly though, I've noticed other naturals say the exact opposite! For example, my best friend has super thick, coily strands, and she's really LOVED the growth and length retention that she enjoys from a good box braid set! Everyone's different though. 😍

      Hey Curlfriend! My strands are fine but I've got a lot of them so it gives the illusion of thickness. There are naturals who've also got fine hair but less strands, so that would explain the thinner appearance in comparison to my hair. I hope this helps! 💛

I am 18y now and I definitely understand why I didn’t stand braids at all, they hurt so bad even with the minimal tension ever and I would always lose hair. my edges are gone (from all the unnecessary tension and bad braiders) and my overall thickness has reduced dramatically and this has been a problem for more than 10 years now. I am old enough to do my hair and I have decided to completely prevent people from touching it. I hope to get my childhood density one day

      Yes! It’s such a hard lesson to learn, especially when you love braids so much! I absolutely LOVE a good box braid set or even a beautiful kinky twist set but my hair hates it. Even so, I try to balance these two things with only wearing extensions approximately once per year - sometimes not at all if I’m really on a growth/length retention journey! 😅

    Thanks for sharing this list with us! I had a question. Did you notice more breakage when using hair growth oils on your edges or did you notice that the oils weren't really having much of an effect? I was just curious since many naturals teach others to use oils on edges to promote growth. However, I have heard from some naturals that instead of massaging the oil into thin edges (especially if you have fine hair), it helps to gently rub it in.

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +5

      Hey Ashante,
      Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your thoughts with me on the video. In terms of my edges, I noticed way more breakage when I started using hair growth oils on my edges in addition to the oils not really having much of an effect. Important to note is the fact that I also have extremely sensitive skin which means that I also have an extremely sensitive scalp so adding more products usually tends to cause more issues than it helps...
      If you can use growth oils on your edges without scalp/skin irritations, than I would definitely suggest gently rubbing it in as opposed to using heavier tension methods; particularly since this area of the scalp is already so fragile in nature.

I have fine hair and I honestly don't know what type it is cause my hair looks nothing like everyone else but I know it's fine and after seeing this video I realized all the braids and twist I love to get in my hair is causing me to lose my hair. I can tell my hair grew everytime it's time to take it out but after detrangling my hair I'm left with a big old ball of hair I just grew and it defeats the purpose. So my question to you is can fine hair people where braids are twist with out going through this cause I wear these styles not only cause I like to but also so I don't have to worry about doing my hair. I don't have time to do all these things people do to they hair and I don't have the patience either so I'm really trying to figure out how can I save my hair cause I'm ready to cut it all off and say f it

I recently watched a video by Natural Nadine she states that most African American hair is high porosity by nature, when a lot of us are thinking our hair is low porosity (if it hasn't been relaxed or color treated). She references crime scene investigations where police can determine the race of a suspect based on their hair noting that most African American hair has raised cuticles ( high porsity). • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +2

      Hi Renee! Thanks so much for watching this video. Washing your hair more often (at least 2x/month) will help with your hair hydration levels which may also help with hair fall/tangling. It’s normal to lose more hair if you’re washing it less often because we lose approximately 150 hairs per day. All the hair fall gets caught in our curls so it could look like a lot on wash day. Either way, if you really feel like it’s excessive, I would recommend checking in with a healthcare specialist just to be sure there are no underlying conditions.
      As for flat ironing, I haven’t done this in years. I would recommend blowing out your hair with as low manipulation as you can, to enjoy straighter tresses. I always recommend the Revair for blowing out fine strands because it offers a nice straightened yet fluffy look without making our fine strands look too flat. I hope this helps 🤗

    How do you know if your hair is fine?

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +2

      Hi Ayemad, this is a great question that I will make a video about shortly, however to answer your question more directly, you can know that your hair is fine if you can barely (if at all) feel one strand between your fingertips. Another way that you can tell is if you take one strand of your hair and it is barely visible to the naked eye. I hope this helps! 💛

      @@FineNaturalHairROCKS That is actually a great explanation. Now that I have tried that, i can conclude that i don;t have fine hair. 🙂

      Hey Beautiful! I purchased this one from Fingercomber.com awhile back. It's really full and big but they should still have it. I believe it was called "The Kinky Wave II" unit.

      @Fine Natural Hair ROCKS The wig look nice. On their Facebook page a few people stated issues with the company and products. On person ordered and have not received their wig. The company is not responding to her inquires about the order.

      @@knoname1092 Oh wow! I heard this was happening in the past but I thought they resolved it... is this a recent issue? When I ordered mine back in 2021, I didn't have any issues but perhaps things have changed for the worse again... :S

      @@FineNaturalHairROCKS I agree and the tension and the build up is very damaging to edges and fine hair. Box braids are why so many women have no edges 🤷🏾‍♀️ I find that hot oil treatment and deep conditioning with heat and French braiding my hair under a wig works well for my hair

    Never just put oil on your hair or scalp always moisturize first with a leave in conditioner. Oil is not a moisturizer but a sealant.

    Wash n’ go is a no-no for me. I wear them every blue moon otherwise, I’ll have fairy knots for life…

      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +1

      Hey Black Butterfly! (I LOOOOVE your name btw! 😍). My fine hair is just like yours in the sense that wash n go's really cause more problems than they solve. Apparently it's an issue with moisture that causes those pesky single strand knots. How often do you moisturize and re-moisturize your hair when it's in a wash and go?

    • @blackbutterfly8338
      @blackbutterfly8338 Год назад +2

      @@FineNaturalHairROCKS I couldn’t tell you, honestly, since I rarely sport a wash-n-go, but as long as I twist my strands and properly apply moisture from root to end on wash day, I can get away with re-moisturizing, once a week.
