Hi DC and EJ. Terry Fullerton, I agree he was brilliant in karts. I saw your race him DC in the wet on Silverstone club in '89, I filmed it from the grandstand it's on youtube. Talking Formula Ford, I saw EJ in the FF Festival at Snett in 1974, before I started doing race car paintings! Another great show, cheers guys.
I'm a frequent visitor to your RUclips channel (and Barry Price too) Thanks for capturing so much footage of, in my opinion, the best era of feeder series racing. I was at the festival in '89 and DC was superb that day!

Regarding new F 1 regulations, please drop the electric motors once and for all, its a dead end..... and instead go for combustion engines, V8s or rather V12s.

It’s not a dead end at all, if you don’t like them, that’s fine, but no need to make stuff up. You can either change with the times or get left behind.
And I'll add: all, that is ALL, OEM vehicle manufacturers are retooling back to ICE power as the 100% electric scam is collapsing (as all involved knew it would before long) 40% of EV owners regret it and are planning to return to ICE, quite obviously there is not remotely close to enough available electricity on any power grids for even a 20% EV world let alone 100% nor will there be in the foreseeable future or likely ever, contrary to the BS abstract nonsense 'green' pitch they are environmental disasters, both from the strip mining of minerals needed (in incredibly dangerous almost slave-like conditions...just ask a lithium miner in China) battery disposal, etc etc. The entire sham is perfectly summed up by the EV charging stations throughout California that are powered by....diesel powered generators. EV's will be looked back on as the biggest scam, fallen for by the most gullible childlike fools, in history.
@@conors4430 I'm sorry to tell you that you're misled. This electric car business is absolutely NOTHING, NOTHING at all to do with the environment. It's purely an ace card - along with CBDC's to totally control humanity - it's just that they've wrapped it up in a fluffy feel good blanket for people to suck it up. On David's point about the best place to see a car is at the breaking point after a long straight, I remember Martin Brundle at a corner ( I think it was Stowe) during one of the practice sessions. I've been lucky enough to get to Silverstone on two occasions but the footage in the background of the cars breaking heavily coming into the corner was mind blowing. Even Brundle himself spoke about how amazed he was with how much speed the cars were scrubbing off at that point. The magic of the shot behind Brundle was that the camera was at eye level at the specific point when the cars looked like they had to a complete stop from such an incredibly high speed - being tracked by a human. I haven't seen that angle in any live broadcast, yes they have the swivel cams on giant booms at hairpins but the view from a fixed point i.e. the camera man was awesome. High cameras on cranes looking down a straight doesn't convey any sense of speed, eye level cameras on the inside of the corner following cars entering and exiting corners is in my view the best for a more immersive experience.
Standing on the outside at the braking point for Stowe is amazing. You can get so close to the cars at speed.
Get rid of ground effect. It makes the cars too peaky.
Cover the rear wheels (like in indycar). That should reduce the dirty air when following.
I was hoping DC was going to mention some of his karting rivals.
I remember Jamie Spence, Paul Rees, and a few others, who were on-track rivals to DC at the time. Great days!

Really surprised Lawson isn't replacing Ricciardo for the second part of the current season. Whether Ricciardo replaces Perez or is shown the door is a separate question. Lawson needs to be tested before getting the job as Max's teammate to ensure he isn't the next Nyck Devries. Red Bull is missing a big opportunity if they don't make a driver change for the second half of 24
Agreed, Ric never should have left RB so time to give someone else like Liam the seat, he blew it not once but twice.
If Liam Lason goes straight into the Redbull he’s the next Alex Albon. Not tested and demoted by summer break.

Drs should change to be activated within 1.5 seconds of car ahead but deactivated when within 0.5 - 0.8 of the car ahead. So you still have to work for the overtake but the drs brings you into contention.
If EJ would had his “vision of the future”, he’d sealed the deal with M. Schumacher back in ‘91…
A V6 engine is so pour for F1, why not a screaming V12 on sustainable fuels with high revs and than a EV for boost or driving in the pits.
The sound is so poor now
In the 80s they were running 1.5 liter turbocharged engines, BMW even had an inline 4. Nobody was complaining about the noise. The MGU-H is the real issue which they are eliminating for 26. It just wouldn't make any sense to put such a heavy engine into the cars again, when finally they decided to build lighter cars again.

Two fine human beings doing a podcast, great to watch such brothers whom are without violence.
Active aero could become as dangerous as active suspension was - a software glitch could lose downforce enough to send the car off. DRS is different as it reduces downforce so a failure to activate is no problem and a failure to disengage is at least manageable.
This is nonsense. If a glitch would happen to the DRS control unit meanwhile you're cornering with 4-5 G, you would end up in the stratosphere within a second. Also, have you heard about brake by wire? You know the stuff that they're using in F1 for years now. Luckily these computers are not running Windows Vista, they were designed for this job. Same as fly by wire on aircrafts.

If scrapping the MGU-H does considerably improve the sound of the cars in 2026 I'll definitely be back to Silverstone that year.
Agree with Jordan on antonelli. Too soon and it will end in tears most likely. Also why no mention on the engine sound. Surely that’s an important factor moving forward ?

Murray Walker & James Hunt sharing a “lip-microphone” already had me visualizing a rather begrimed picture, but when Eddie suggested that, unlike Max simracing during the night, James’ lip quite likely was somewhere else entirely, the night before, I had to laugh out loud🤣 Poor Murray🤦♂️

Hi David & EJ. Firstly David, I have to agree with you on your opinion on EJ, I hate him and love him equally. He doesn’t half talk some amount of sh*te but at the same time you have to give him his dues for what he’s done over the years.
I just came to say that my love for the sport came from you personally David. My earliest memory of F1 is watching you and Mika battling when I was around 8-9 years old. I’m 34 now and still can’t get enough of the sport. I watch every practice, quali and race live + a million RUclips videos. On weekends we don’t have a race I pick a random track and year and watch the full race.
I’ve listened to every podcast you’ve done and will continue to do so…unless EJ gets too unbearable 😅 Thanks for making these.

The only bit of gossip we need from EJ, is where Newey is heading, if anywhere in F1. Fess up EJ, or…
EJ knows that Newey will unfortunately go to Aston Martin so that baby Stroll will be given a championship on a platinum plate. I would have loved to see Newey go to Williams to restore Williams to their former glory. EJ loves Stroll because he brought his former team, so he is biased as hell.

With how quickly EJ then switched to wanting to talk about who he thinks will be at Mercedes in '26 (Max Verstappen), I wonder if he let the veil slip slightly. I wonder if the "People" rushing to Mercedes includes Newey, and EJ suddenly felt he needed to mask what he just said - and what that could imply - a little.
Adrian clearly relishes having a side project. All else being equal, I would like to ask Adrian whether he would prefer to design a hypercar with Ferrari, or with Mercedes. Both companies have been responsible for some incredible cars, but which would be more alluring for him? Could that side project even be the contact term that both keeps him in F1, and determines which team he designs for?

I don't see Max staying at Red Bull for 2025. Why is Mercedes waiting so long to announce a new driver? They could have gone with Carlos Sainz or even Kimi Antonelli. Max will announce it when he is secure of the titel or at the end of the season.

With the introduction of 100% sustainable fuel I really cannot understand the need a 50/50 split hybrid. Surely the sustainable fuel ticks the 'green' box nicely, so why can't we just leave the electric stuff to Formula E? Or am I just showing my age by not wanting to lose even more of the sounds we so love about F1?

VISION. The most important quality in a broker/dealmaker. I've worked for most of my professional adult life thus far on the buying side of the entertainment business. I've been told more times than I can count that I should be on the other side. For a few reasons, but that's one of them, so I know what EJ means. It's very hard to explain. And, for me unlike EJ, very hard to see others get wealthy from the upside of my quality of vision (i.e. agents or managers I've introduced new talent to.) I guess that's the one area it's let me down! 😆

I am a RedBull fan. But I don't think they'll win 2026. Specially with FORD. That's a big mistake done by Redbull. I mean why in the world would a team select ford as the engine partner. Since Honda is an engine supplier for 2026, why not ask them??
Crazy how y’all act like Lawson and bearman are the next coming of Jesus cause they had one solid race in the car. Lawson will not be in the 2nd Red Bull seat before yuki or Danny R. When he starts struggling and we’ll be back talking about how he doesn’t deserve his seat
F2 drivers need to do the path that Liam Lawson has done. DTM, F1 E, LMP, Japanese series. Why is it not normal for a top driver to take an extra year to settle in a competition. Obviously they are being rushed. THe expectation to go from F2 to F1 and be immediately amazing is ridiculous. Young drivers just dont want to be found out they are not up to it in other categories particularly sons of ex F1 drivers. Almost time for a 2nd tier competition with different spec cars.(v10 hybrid) Drivers need to earn there way to F1 not just be an expected progression for F2 to F1 otherwise your bannished. There are better drivers who have competed elsewhere and grown and they are being shut out to protect this privilage of people with money and sons of exF1 drivers. Red Bull having the sister team proves the point of this as a progression to the top. The jump is too big and good drivers are being shut out.

The future of F1 is this. It will be priced out so your average punter won't be able to go and watch live, it will be too expensive to stream or pay per view, and the sport will be solely for the rich. For me, F1 died with the great Senna. And wtf are women doing commentating?.
