What is the motivation behind this man's belief that Azerbaijan is seeking peace? In contrast, labeling the entire Armenian region as "Western Azerbaijan" and publishing books and printing maps based on that absurd claim, they are spreading lies around the world to make grounds for taking over our land.

These are your assumptions, and frankly speaking - lies. The fact is the 30-year occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.

At a time where 2 neighbors are trying to find a diplomatic solution to this century old problem and find ever lasting peace your concerns are minimal as that is nothing but internal propaganda in Azerbaijan, doesn't mean its a reality regardless of Ilham Aliyev saying yes this is true. We need to find peace or this violence will never end not for us not for our children or grandchildren. When I say find peace doesn't mean we shouldn't be weary and always ready to defend ourselves and nation. Chill my brother let the politicians try to figure this out.

This is what is on Google: Did Yerevan belong to Azerbaijan?
Currently the territory of the Armenian Republic, until quite recently - early 19th century - it was an Azerbaijani state of Irevan Khanate. The oldest indigenous population of this land was the aboriginal owners of the territory, the Azerbaijani Turks.

Firstly, to the fools in the comments that have something to say about the Prime Minister accent, his speech was 100% English valid and legible, short of precept, which is the exact word for the regulating of his thoughts when addressing such a detailed and important speech.
    Dear Prime Minister,
I thank you for delivering your speech in English, it was perfectly spoken and the vocabulary easy to understand. What I wish to thank you even more, was for the addressing of the previous speeches which were quite the contrast to this one, You delivered a positive message in a time where peace is slipping out of the world's hands. If Armenia, Turkey and all the neighbours of the South Caucus can invoke peace then those with less claim to the atrocities of man should also heed the call for peace.
    Thank you for choosing peace!

The mere fact that you call people fool for their ideas talks a lot about you. He should not be other person to be understood. He could speak the truth by using his mother tongue to be decisive, persuasive and believable, keeping eye contact with the audience. Just watch Erdogan's speech, which is strong but not in English. He never read from his notes, talked to the audience, looking at the audience. This is a shame, honestly.

All political issues aside: my question is why is this guy holding his speech in English!? I would suggest him to speak his native language which would be much more effective rather than reading from a piece of paper. A speech in front of an important delegation requires a speech that puts an impression behind, needs confidence, and you should show that you mean what you are saying. As an example: check out the speech held by the kind of Jordan! Amazing speech with feeling, confidence and pushing the audience to listen and listen carefully on what his speech is all about. Although I respect Mr Pashinyan for trying his best to speak language that the majority in the public understands, however it ain’t good enough for important matters and audiences as such.

I am not from this region, I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I grew up in war. But I survived. My father was killed by so-called friends just because he was a Muslim. But I believe that times have to change. We are all human beings. We can do things differently, we don't need to repeat the mistakes of the past. And what has been done may be less difficult to bear if people today get along.
