Excellent episode. Thanks for sharing.
Some of my best friends
Because sugar was in short supply during the war, General Foods couldn't market enough Jell-O to make it "profitable" (and sustain a radio program at the same time), so they "shifted" Jack to selling Grape-Nuts Flakes for the next two seasons.
+Barry I. Grauman Very interesting info...I'm guessing because of WWll, many other adjustments had to be made related to radio overall....
I smoked grape nuts for a while but switched to Lucky's and never went back.
I have a Grape Nuts Flakes box that has an illustration of Jack Benny. Is this mentioned in any of his 1942-1944 programs?
Is that the voice of Percy Kilbride I hear as the guard?
Possibly. I read somewhere that Jack Benny thought Percy Kilbride was one of the funniest people he had ever met.
