In a world of showmanship and inflated egos here is a true artist and a simple down to earth human being. God bless you Sir.
Im constantly surfing the internet to find photographers, who are still alive and working, who have the quality of someone like an Avedon or Penn. Finally i have found one. The work here is simply stunning, the kind that i consider the highest form of portrait photography. I can only hope that one day i can achieve work at this level. I am glad i found you. Please keep up the good work. I'd love to see the Native American project when finished
Just stumbled onto this a couple of days ago. I've watched it 3 times already. I'm not a portrait person, but these are just incredible. Absolutely brilliant. Love them all, and Robert seems a fantastic character too. Thank you.
Me either , is oversaturated
Thanks for letting us in Bob.
Robert, greetings from Australia. You expressed something that has happened here. "A seed was planted"
Only recently have I been exposed to fine art photography. I ha e been taking happy snaps all my life, friends and family have always asked me to be the one to compose their shots.
Now I have joined a camera club, and really only now after 46 years realised that I have been taking photos my whole life without any boundaries and simply been practicing the art of good composition.
This year I have for the first time bought a new and quite expensive camera so that I can start exploring where I can take this skill. I have a head full of fine art ideas that I am ready to try out.
Your video has really concreted the seed that has been growing slowly to the point I now think about ideas when I go to bed, and now ready to bloom.
Many thanks Robert for your story you have shared.
So honest. Love the work. Hope I see more of your art.
Great images and fun story. Well done, Robert!
That discussion of finding beauty in the chaos and then organizing it resonates so strongly right now...I'm only 5 years into taking this craft seriously, but only recently was I able to articulate that to myself...nice to have that mental process validated by a master.
Beautiful photography, pleasure to listen to an artist that's humble and so immensely creative.
Bob, your work inspired me back in the 70's and your portraits are inspiring me again now. I recently saw a print you sent JP of him flying down the bonsai - can't wait to read your book! If I ever get up to Montana again I'll be sure to drop in.
I enjoyed this video a lot. This gentleman seems very humble and enthusiastic about his craft! Love to talk to people like this. Great work
Frank
Just honest good old fine art photography. Thank You.
What a brilliant video !!! So inspirational and I absolutely love your work. Thank you Robert.
Amazing just Amazing work! Wonderful photography.
The experience of watching "Anatomy of a Photograph" was truly uplifting. I was deeply enriched by the valuable lessons it imparted. Every second of the video was a joy, and I was captivated by its profound narrative. The collaborative spirit that infused creative moments into a mesmerizing photograph, frozen in time, was a testament to the power of collective energy and artistry.
This is AMAZING!!! it's jaw dropping. You, mr. Osborn, is a true inspiring artist! Thank you for sharing your talent and vision with us!
Wow, thanks for this. What a beautiful series of images. And Robert, what a character. Brilliant
This is the best soliloquy by a photographer I've ever heard! I think Robert is successful because he is such an authentic person. He has found his life purpose and just lives it. His love of what he does, his subjects and compositions, shows in his images. I admire him greatly based only this video. You can't be a fake and get these cowboys to trust and like you. It's paying off with spectacular fine art portraits, and I bet his work will be widely appreciated.
This is really good work.. the photographer and the video production quality!! :)
Thanks from Australia Robert. Your work is beautiful and inspiring! Thankyou so much for sharing
What a beautiful spirit of a man...and such gorgeous work!
Great work ,your use of light is amazing and John, really cool.
Such a great video. Loved everything about it. Cheers!
Wow , inspiring human, man, photographer, true artist...thinking about his photography all day long...that is work, his life!!! Take your subject out of your photos and into the exhibition...it should be art itself👏👍💯☑
He has taught me a lot with just the one video, imagine what I would learn if I had a course with him. Thanks, Ozzy
Great picture. Thanks for sharing
We live differently, but we are one and the same . Experiences differ, too. Learning mixing together is the essence of life. Your artwork is stunning. I'll never look at portraiture the same way again...thank you.
What an interesting and generous guy and an awesome photographer. Such a simple set up that gets those powerful images, and not a single image that wasn't perfect. A very talented man and a very well produced video.
From one tattooed brother to another - it's always a pleasure seeing your stories and work my man.
Amazing story line great love reminder on what's truly important in the photography journey

Thanks! I am actually doing a full re-edit on it right now to make it a bit tighter.
What an inspiration!!! Love Roberts story.... Brilliant :-) I hope I'm the same as him when I get to his age!! And I hope I'm like John when I get to his age too ;-)
Superb!
I also wanted to say creating Art the way you and many of us do is feeling the experience and capturing or creating that feeling so others can feel the emotion.
Thanks for letting us into your world of though and creation sir .
I loved watching this. Nice :)
Excellent work
amazing!!
2 mins into your video and I'm a fan!
Very nice tutorial. Thank you.
Awesome video.
Love those old hats.
Best photo video on You Tube and super great lighting. My brother lives in Livingston, must ask him about Robert.
Fantastic damn work!
great work.
Great lighting!
Inspirational!
This was cool. So much better than the usual RUclips talking head about photos in a more pretentious way.
Excellent! I like the B&W and fine detail of the prints. These folks have character and you can see it in the images. I've thought about doing something like this with truck drivers, some of which are very unique and distinctive. I was wondering a bit about the equipment and lighting set-up. I bet it wouldn't be difficult to replicate the results.
John is genuine living cowbow, from an American period long past. Very fascinating, love this and how he is being captured, forever. Thank you for sharing this video. Montana is absolutely gorgeous, btw. Montana is American old west & cowboys better than anywhere. That what it says. 😎👍
Great video, well done. 👍
I live in Poland - completely different world, but this story was interesting - this made this short film very good. Keep up the good work Nick!
Really glad you enjoyed it.
A very entertaining video, Nick, Loved it.
ArizAl
Glad you enjoyed it.
Very nice. Time to pack up and head to Montana. Oh, yeah, I should develop some photographic skill first. I really like Robert Osborn's portraits. Very interesting story also.
I like the idea of the fine art show being part of the art .
We here in central Illinois do similar shows of art and music. So the music event is Art .
I didn’t see it as such but an “experience” but it’s also “Beautiful Art in Real Time”
Great little film about big subjects. I hope that he and John are doing well.
Excelente, arte fotográfico 👍
What an inspiration!
Is that book going to be available somewhere on the interwebs?
Classic.
Good work
