- This video shows the onboard announcements made by the London iBus System. This video has iBus announcements currently on the system and ones that have never been heard before.
The announcements are pre-recorded by Emma Hignett for Transport for London.
Here are some of the common annoucements that the bus driver is able to play such as:
Bus will wait here whilst drivers are changed.
This bus terminates here. Please take all your belongings with you.
This bus is on diversion. Please listen for further announcements.
The destination of this bus has changed. Please listen for further announcements.
The next bus stop is closed.
Seats are available on the upper deck.
Please move down inside the bus.
No standing on the upper deck or stairs please.
Smoking is not permitted on London's buses.
Drinking alcohol is not permitted on London's buses.
The wheelchair space is now required. Can passengers in this area please make room. Thank you.
Closed circuit television is in operation on this bus.
Please keep all your personal belongings with you at all times. For everyone's security, please inform the driver of anything suspicious

A lot of those messages have been removed, some not long after installation. Apparently drivers are encouraged to make live broadcasts instead
Sometimes, iBus makes pronunciation mistakes, so I think it must be a text-to-speech based system.
They got a real person to do the announcements

It's a voice-sliced system. There's essentially a massive number of pre-recorded clips that are strung together to make sentences. TTS systems work in a somewhat similar way but use syllables.

I think I've sussed it: it's recordings, but when they need a new one they can get from splicing together parts of existing recordings they do that rather than asking Emma to make a new one.

Hi, searched for it on Google. I'm not sure what the name of the font i used in this video is called as I don't use it anymore. The current font i use is called Synchro LET, but it writes only in uppercase

Is there a 'this bus will be heading out of service'?
Not really. If a bus is curtailed a lot of drivers just play ‘this bus terminates here’ or ‘the destination of this bus has changed...’

They should've left the music and litter announcements now every bus is full of rubbish and kids blasting their music
I always hated Sydney buses that had those annoying announcements such as "Stand Clear, Doors Opening" and "Stand Clear, Doors Closing". It continues to repeat over and over and over. Adding stress continuously. This is pure form of torture which can lead to outbursts like "F Off" (speakers). Now they have added this to some smaller town buses. For 100s of years we never needed such nonsense. You can't even have decent conversation between this constant harrassment! I loved it when moving away from Sydney annoying announcements it was so peaceful. But now they have corrupted small towns too. Many people with disabilities also cannot handle such overstimulation. It is not healthy for the public and will lead to major stress and outbursts. It is like torture. Like military style torture. You have to understand human factors in this case. So now all the special needs kids will be tortured by this. Especially sensitive kids including autistic people. And even annoys standard people. You keep poking and proding people with annoying messages over and over and the stress level reaches breaking point. Your buses are now stress inducing wheels of torture. I am very aware of how this works and I will go back to taxis if this continues. But some people can't afford taxis and so they will continue to be stressed by this with no recourse. I advocate for peace. Do you care about your children and your fellow citizen in general? Well I do. I hope you feel the same.

It's all about balance. Not to many to over stimulate but also not too few that people are left misinformed.
That’s not really true actually. For example the stop announcements, I have ridden my local bus route so much that I don’t hear them anymore. Sometimes I don’t even notice it when they’re not working. You’ll get used to it.
