1500 miles with 4 hours of sleep between Sat and Sun, and arriving a day early is a feat of fortitude - for driver and navigator. Kudos to you both! 👍🏾
Lake Holloman seems to be a boondocking paradise. Very picturesque.❤
Good on Brinkley for replacing the entire sewer hose holder. Hopefully, they buck the trend and continue building on their excellent reputation.
Safe travels to all 4 of you.🙏🏾

On washing your rv and pickup you can make blue beacon do it over only let them wash and wax it the acid will fade your rig and cause damage the acid is for your wheels to get rid of the pit in them then you are to wax them .

We carry Jerry cans with us when we travel so that when we hit a cheap gas station we fill up and save money, then when we can't access a station due to the large trailer or it's premium price for diesel or gas for the Suv we just use the jerry cans. We never have to worry about getting stuck in a traffic jam and running out of fuel.

I average 10 to 11 MPG pulling the trailer and 23 MPG without the trailer.

eTrailer also offers door locks for some RVs. I have a Thor Majestic 28A, and they have a door lock, so I can replace mine. They aren't just for trailers anymore.
Be careful when a GPS says. Some don't adjust for time zone changes. Y'all are going west, so the time changes will be beneficial.
Thank you for reminding us that when traveling long distances, fuel prices add up quickly, but hotel costs hardly ever do. So your $600 in fuel is comparable to plane tickets, but you don't have to think about hotel rooms (even cheap hotels seem to be $100 a night these days).

Hi guys- So recently retired and took on a 7700-mile rv trip from California to the East coast in October. I was averaging 8.7 mpg in our motorhome towing a Subaru car. I thought that was pretty good up until we hit Indiana heading West (WIND, WIND and more WIND! and dropped down to about 5-6 mpg.......the worst of it about New Mexico on ward until we hit Quartzite in Arizona. On another note, I would like to comment on the horrible interstate roads that are in horrible conditions. It's disgusting how much we pay in fuel tax, and we have such deplorable driving experiences. Always enjoy the video's and looking forward to your Alaska trip!

I agree on wind affecting mileage. I have a ford diesel dually. We previously had a 44’ 20000 lb fifth wheel. We would get 11-12 towing without wind. With a strong crosswind, it drops to 8 mpg. We currently have a 10000 lb 30’ fifth wheel and get similar mileage results. We previously had an F250 diesel with a 32’ 11000 lb fifth wheel and got similar mileage…cross wind is a mileage killer more so than headwind in my opinion.

Very nice video. Oh yes, the wind and fuel consumption. I average around 10mpg, but get a good headwind going and it hits 8 in no time, or conversely get a nice tail wind and enjoy 12 or even 13 mpg. Aerodynamics have way more effect than overall weight on fuel consumption with an RV. I see you are like us, even on a long travel day, I cannot hook up without the bed made :) I follow another youtube channel (Slim Potatohead) that was just in the exact same boondocking site within the last few weeks. Small world, as his trip started from Eastern Canada in mid winter....check him out...well worth it....tiny travel trailer so he had no problem making that turn. As always, continued safe and happy travels.

We were just there last week! Well not there but Ski Apache, stayed at the Slow Play RV park Ruidoso, New Mexico and drive up the mountain. We had a great week there before driving back to Dallas. Your spot looks amazing!
We looked at a few other RV Parks in that area but they were way way too small for the Brinkley. Ours is a Z3610 but I don’t see anyone getting into some of those parks with anything longer than 25’. The trees will for sure be rubbing the roof too.
We brought back Covid! So take my advice and sanitize the carts at Walmart. There were a lot of people around so we could have gotten it anywhere.

I started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago - I think I have been through every one of them at least twice now! One thing that stands out is when Craig says he has a tool, but he doesn't remember where he packed it, LOL! I am sure he is kidding - well, probably mostly kidding - but when spare parts and tools are packed here and there for "this is where it fits" purposes, one can forget where an item was packed. Last year I got smart (not 100% smart, but at least in this one area smart) . . . I created an excel spreadsheet listing all of our tools and spare parts, and their respective location in the camper (we travel in a 1988 VW Westfalia, so things are packed in nooks and crannies). I alphabetized it and printed it out for our "Vacation Notebook", so we can look things up by name - or I can pull it up on our laptop and do a more in-depth search if I cannot remember the name of whatever it is I am looking for. This came in really handy when we had transmission issues last year, in the middle of nowhere, of course. Breakdowns are always stressful, and anything I can do to ease the stress is worth the effort to me. Happy travels you two - I am lovin' being along for the ride!

OK we are force base is Holloman Air Force Base. The town is Alamogordo, New Mexico
In Alamogordo you’ve got to try the Mexican food. It’s awesome. If you go west to Las Cruces, the food is also great but it’s a bigger town. You go north to truth or consequences and see the lake at elephant butte.
Lived in the area for six years. During the winter you can go up the mountain east of you and go skiing, little town called Cloudcroft. Let us know what you thought of white sands national park. This sounds awesome.

Thanks for another great video! We went from Mississippi to Estes Park and I remember the wind! New Mexico was very windy! We had a 5th wheel then and only a 1/2 ton truck. Kind of crazy… so many stories from that trip. It was our best yet though! Would love to go to Alaska when we are back in a fifth so we will be watching closely and taking notes!

Oh I hear ya on the fuel. I just went from western Idaho to Junction City, OR to Ramona, CA in 3 days... the fuel cost (CA is at least $1 more per gallon than OR or ID) was insane. I did think of you two & your angst of driving through ATL.. as I was in traffic going around L.A. - took me 6 hrs to go about 190 miles. That was my longest day ever... 14 hrs in one day. Oy!! My right leg is so sore!! haha. Don't want to do this many miles in short time again!! Safe Travels. Thanks for sharing.

      @wildrvlife  9 месяцев назад

Oh man!! Yeah that fuel cost in CA will kill ya. We did the summer of 2022 in California…you know, when it was around $7/gallon for diesel everywhere…crazy!!
And man…that LA traffic sounds AWFUL! The one good thing about this trip we just did is that we seemed to miss all the major traffic cities 🙌🏼

How much fresh water are you carrying on your tanks while traveling? Makes a difference on gas mileage as well.

Damn. Same last time I stopped to fuel at truck stop getting diesel my wife bought me hot dog. I ate it without washing my hands and I got sick with nasty virus for 5 days. Now I use gloves or use hand sanitizer. Lots of nasty germs on the pump handle.

I'd second the warning about the water, it's a known toxic area and a lot of bad stuff was put in there over the years. Wouldn't keep my rig that near to it.

So your thumbnail said never again. Do you mean it? The longest we have traveled in a day was 9 hours, and we did that 3 days in a row. One of those was in the wind and that was brutal. The other two not so bad. Looking forward to your Alaskans travels!
