A masterpiece of a soundtrack for a masterpiece of a game.
Akira Yamaoka is a genius
Yes, indeed, Aidan. That game was the very best which ever came out for the PS1. Unfortunately at the same time it marked the end of an era for the PS1... Two more games, Alone in the Dark and Dino Crisis, came out and it was over.
for real
What an intro this was to the franchise.
49 years old now but still this masterpiece reminds me the days of 99 and playing silent hill

Welcome back, Silent Hill.
They ain't back yet. Lost Message and Ascension proves that. Wait until they pull into the station before we say they're back.
@@AGMSPAdmittedly, I'm not even waiting for the proverbial train in the station; my hopes for SH2R are so dismally low just cuz I don't want to have that inevitable disappointment. Silent Hills was, imo, the last opportunity for Konami to revive the series, and they fucking squandered it when they screwed over Kojima. The ship has long since sailed...
@@lizardqueen6041 I don't know about that. SH2R looks fine. We shouldn't judge till we have it.
It was a priveledge to be alive to play this game back in 1999.
Same. Even though I couldn't figure out the piano puzzle.

Akira Yamaoka a great inspiration for many artists, when I am without inspiration listening to the great ones like him helps a lot.
Akira Yamaoka is a legend in game music. But he was also lucky in his private life.
He is married (2 children) to one of the top Japanese female heavy metal drummers : Tamu Murata from the heavy metal band Nemophila.
Check it out you turnips.😊

Gotta love that ‘Secret Agent Man’ progression @ 1:22 🔥🔥🔥
I’d say it’s closer to the James Bond Theme, but that’s most likely what “Secret Agent Man” was going for.
Yeah, Bond, followed by Morricone's Dollar Trilogy horns. Such a great theme song. @@imfsresidentotaku9699

Yupppppp🎉 27 years and still ~~~~~
i was playing Silent Hill if i was 6 y.o and this soundtrack is still my favorite game soundtrack. Iam 28 y.o now.
Listening to this I am reminded of my past when there were happier times and how I got to where I am now, where I'm now going through a difficult time and am unsure what to do with my life.
That's the real horror we must defeat day by day, just keep trying to understand what to do tomorrow but appreciate what today offers you too. And don't look back so often or you'll be trapped in another time, trust me.
@@sasukefdm8 true, that's the appeal I get from the Silent Hill franchise. The stories mainly involve characters that are lost and recovering from some trauma and they come to Silent Hill to go on a spiritual journey.
Did things improve for you?
@@Mitia_k yeah, I'm close to achieving my dream.
@@jamesreed2366 Don't give up, just like Alessa :)
Why isn't this one on spotify?
It was for a short time and deleted again like a month ago
@@malware331 legit have no clue why it keeps happening. the other games have their full soundtracks on spotify, aside from their unreleased tracks. Silent hill 1 is the only one that repeatedly disappears. But i think it's because Konami is doing something with Silent Hill 1. Probably a full on Silent Hill 1 Remake. It's the only thing that makes sense because NONE of the others disappear. Ever. They always stick around.
Plus, it coincides with the rumor that Konami is doing a Silent Hill 1 remake. And akira yamaoka is still doing music, because he did music for The Medium.
@@Kizen. No SH1 remake though, but SH2
@@daffanurfauzan1220 The sh2 remake is through bloober team though, no? Konami is working on the new silent hill game. and I feel like konami wants to be in charge of the sh1 remake.
As many times as this commented, you would think people would stop using it by now
I always feel this deep longing for something intangible whenever I hear this song. No matter how much time passes this song is always a favorite of mine.
It's here, the birth of the greatest videogame franchise of all time, and the time for the best soundtrack composer of all time shine.
I can't express in words how much I love Silent Hill

i tried to play silent hill on pc with an emulator, but most of the sounds were played thrice and it lagged, but i could enjoy this masterpiece at least

you just need to modify the settings. ive played through the entirety of SH emulated with no lag or anything. of course, i experienced tons of issues in the beginning while still tweaking the settings. theres a reason you can change things in every emulator!
@@frookst5769 probably way late to this party but I used ePSXe to play Silent Hill for a while and was having problems with sound clipping and stuttering, eventually switched to Retroarch's Beetle PSX module and it works like a charm right out the box!
This music plays with your psychy.
the music always sounded like a spaghetti western theme to me
I swear I hear crying at 2:23
SO DO I. Shit, I was chill listening to this song when I heard a woman crying. I got scared. If we are not crazy, that woman would be Lisa or Alessa
Yea that's always been there
@@g_i_n_dMost likely this is Lisa crying, because in the cut-scene at the moment the sound appears, she is the one who flashes in the frame, although she is not crying
@@nishizora That crying sound does not appear in the game. It's likely meant to reference Alessa since this is the main theme and Alessa's pain is the crux of the horror.
I wish they would remake part 1 first not part 2 because I feel like the first game doesn't get too much attention like the other 2
🖤 so many memories
Akira Yamaoka = God
Godly music, music that is neither happy or sad, it's music of the observer
If Silent Hill 2 Remake is successful then this one and Silent Hill 3 are most likely going to be getting a remake next

I genuinely wish I could go back and play this game for the first time again.

I LOVE SILENT HILL MASTER PIECE
One time I went over to West Virginia, all I can say is that Silent Hill is basically it.

Me recuerda más a Left 4 Dead 2
Who's still listening to this legendary song in 2024?
Simply masterpiece...
There are many horror games that have been shown on the PlayStation, but Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark are the most terrifying games ever. Thanks for the more than 20 year old memories ♾️🎮
Yes Alone in the dark ~~~~ omg ! Another awesome game title !
I love this franchise
I feel like if silent hill was ever tv series in the late 90s this would have been the intro music
Evokes certain Twin Peaks kind of feeling.
I love how Yamaoka has used bouzouki in that theme and feels like greek tragedy
Why does it turn into James Bond at 1:23??
When I started the the third level Sapporo Jail in Persona 5 Strikers I noticed the level was almost covered in fog due to the snow I eventually opened my Spotify app in my PS4 and played the silent hill theme while exploring the jail
Obra maestra...!!!
In high school: I use to jump scare everybody when I had them play the first 5 minutes or so. You remember that part where the alley starts to get dark and creepy? and you have your lighter for the only light source? yeah, the exact part is when all the lil baby minions start attacking after seeing the corpse on the chainlink fence at the end of the alley. lol I had everybody yell or scream at that part after jump scaring them. hahahahaha
This aong shows all ahrd ship a father goes for his only daughter
1:23 suddenly it turns into James Bond music
I hope Alip ba ta can try this song using his guitar 😊
You know, if you get several geniuses in one room, tell them to make their dream game, you get Silent Hill.
