As a guy whose played a lot of shooters, I'm really happy that this tournament happened because shooter meta gets quite boring

I also main shooters, and part of the fun for me is facing different weapon types and outplaying them as a shooter, but against shooters it’s basically just squid CoD :(
as a splattershot pro main, i want big swig roller to be buffed because it’s super fun(salmon run)

Hoping that splatoon 3 ends up in a state where one weapon class doesn’t dominate every other one. It’s so refreshing to see a variety of weapons in top level play

Every weapon in splatoon 3 feels playable, except for maybe undercover, but seriously, I feel like I could play something that I like and make it work

I wish it were always like this. It also makes Splatoon 2 even more unique.
Maybe a specific gamemode thing like Mario maker limit clear conditions, cause shooters should.never be fully removed

I'm glad that they're making the hatred for shooters as visible as they can, Nintendo needs to tone them down in the next game
definitely, i hate shooters and barely even play them just because they feel super boring and sometimes brain dead half of the time
They also need to make weapons not just plastic so shooters dont just delete them
They don't need to tone down shooters. They just need to buff everything else.
Facts this is why I try to use them as least as possible and why nzap kgal and kpro are called braindead

I saw people on the last vid complaining that they find shooters annoying but wouldn't ban them but like... That's just the tournament gimmick?? No need to get pressed abt it, just play a different one then. And as fer amount of Tri sloshers, idk having 2 around is better than an entire team of shooters so like. Win some you lose some
as a dynamo enthusiast it warms my heart how free you are to play when shooters cant armor and bomb spam themselves out of dire situations once they get bodied by a good dynamo player

Its funny that the Head TO of F**k Shooters had one single main in his Splatoon career that wasn't a Shooter, being vDualies and that was back in C+ and wayyy before I joined competetive, for CP I've played Shooters exclusively for almost 2 years now and I still hate shooter meta lmao

Honestly, I think the shooter meta exists less because shooters are top tier and more because they are the easiest to learn, and can play any role. A no-shooter team could actually be better than most teams, but the coordination, required to use it it’s fullest is just not very feasible.
From what I've seen overlooking some of chara's vid's and getting back into how the meta of splat 2 shaped up, It's a multitude of things that aren't just that. Shooters are jack of all trades, and master of consistency. Lower outright skill floor ceiling, least amounts of jump trajectory rng, usually the best sustained painting power in a game defined by map control in larger spaces, a good chunk of shooters having access to specials like tentamissiles or booyah bomb or armor in conjunction with painting power and boasting some of the lowest paint counts to get said specials. And to top it off, some other weapon classes overall power somewhat being objectively nerfed to compensate for some broken aspects, while shooters were always pretty stable as they were while being a bit slightly overtuned. It creates a recipe for a weapon class that can't do too much wrong and in most cases just requires you to look in someone's direction and gun them down. That and you can have a comp that at least has a splattershot jr, splash-o-matic and a jet squelcher and cover more or less all your basic needs.
Oh I've seen coordinated non shooter teams
The day before yesterday I fought a team of two chargers and one splatting and one roller, they did very well
Nice job winning the tournament. On a kinda unrelated note, I have almost 500K turf on Kdynamo.
I apparently have 1,260,678 turf on custom Dualie squelchers but I have started using blaster more than I have in the past 2-3 years

Honestly I think tournaments that shake up the meta like this are super interesting, and force teams to adapt to new weapons. It takes advantage of all the unique weapons Splatoon 2 has and it’s cool!

Watching you play Rainmaker reminded me of this really funny match I had. I was doing Leagued Team with my three friends and this match was Rainmaker on Blackbelly Skate Park. I was using the Kensa Undercover Brella and the gear I use with it I call "The apocalypse set" because I made it kind of as a joke but it ended up being AMAZING with the Kensa Undercover Brella. The apocalypse set is: Gas Mask with Navy Eminence Jacket and Navy Enperrials. So the match starts and we team wipe them but I'm the ONLY one alive so I grab the Rainmaker and I have good run speed not swim speed so I literally just flat out run to the Rainmaker goal. Not firing or turfing because that'd waste time. And when the enemy respawns all they see is me in this funny apocalyptic outfit running a solo marathon to the goal. I'm all dodgy so I literally just run and dodge everything and score the Rainmaker alone. My teammates are laughing still standing around spawn. The whole enemy team failed to stop me running with the Rainmaker solo and scoring. And to make it even funnier I was in that goofy outfit.
P.s. This one time I was doing casual Turf War with the apocalypse set and we had a disconnect so we were losing bad and I just gave up trying to turf and decided to simply watch the mayhem. One of the enemies walked up to me (I didn't try to attack I just stood there and looked at him) he also stopped and just stared like he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was so befuddled by my outfit he just stared at me for like 30 seconds until the match ended. Needless to say I laughed pretty hard at his shocked reaction.

this reminds me of one of the main things that makes TF2 so good, there are no generic ar/smg primaries all the weapons are more unique style weapons like in the no shooters tournament.

Congrats on winning, Sir Chara! Hopefully, every weapon kit at the end of Splatoon 3's lifespan is not overpowered, with the exception of shooters & semi-auto shooters.

Listening to competitive splatoon is probably one of the most chaotic things I've listened to
Imagine a tournament with only one weapon class. It’d be interesting how people would make strategies with the different variations of, for example, rollers. Or chargers. Or sloshers. Heck, even only shooters might be a bit odd. It would be really fun to watch
they should add a mode in splatoon 3 where weapons are randomly distributed or something like how they do in salmon run

Playing ranked mode in splatoon makes me exhausted I have to take breaks

It only seems overwhelming because there are a lot of callouts happening at the same time. Most people are saying the same thing to each other which can get daunting.
@@azza5332 It's not the callouts, as I was only focused on Chara's voice anyway. It's the visual information and needing to keep track of so much going on at once. It's the information overload that I know would leave me stressed out while playing and therefore make mistakes. It's likely the reason why I'm still on the lower end of S+.
I wish splatoon had public tournaments for each rank similar to what rocket league did. Maybe in the third game hopefully

I don't know much about competitive Splatoon 2 (hell, I haven't played Splatoon 2 in like 1 or 2 years), but hearing you guys say like dead and bubble over and over again so fast that you start slurring your words is quite entertaining to me.

I mean you can still make it to grands while losing the winners finals set, so I originally thought that didn't spoil, but I'll try n be more careful with wording next time
to be fair, it's the journey that's more fun than the destination. it has suspense anyways because you don't know how they overcome and win the match, you can still be engaged while knowing it'll be fine. it's like watching literally any show that can't kill its main character, you know they're gonna succeed you just don't know how. but people still watch them yanno?

i mean even if bamboo is a good weapon it takes skill to play sniper, plus in some modes having snipers doesn’t work too well -sniper main

But chara, aren't blasters considered shooters? I've always wondered why the brushes and blasters aren't considered there own weapon class.
...yeah? They're a "shooter class" weapon that isn't even close to the same thing, nobody would think, or thinks, they're the same thing, blasters are almost unquestionably their own class.
