    It feels like the whole reason for Necropolis was to sell stash tabs, there is absolutely no reason why they didnt do corpses and allflames stackable other than it was on purpose and like you said yourself you had to buy lots of stash tabs so did everyone else, Im all up for supporting a good job for this type of games with supported packs and mtx and whatnot, but this being forced and totally intended just pisses me off

      Yup, we've had stash-heavy leagues in the past, but none have ever been at this level.

    You are definitely one of the best POE content creators around and I was very happy to follow you during the league. Thanks for the videos and hope to see you again next league!

    I think the league mechanic highlighted the worse aspects of PoE. Currency pick up and stacking were abysmal. Stash management with corpses highlighted other bad ones like tomes and beasts. Allflames are good, but the two menu interface was bad. These little annoyances just wear players down much more than before and this was supposed to be the QoL league.
    Still it is my most played league (out of 3, I'm still a greenhorn).

      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад +1

      It's a good example of how the league was disappointing, but the underlying game is still compelling. Obviously that's frustrating for this patch cycle, especially since it's running longer than usual, but the next league is probably going to be pretty good.

    As my first league I entered citadel with buzzsaw, shaper-touched mobs, drowning orbs. I think it had cores too. Very fun 🙃

    I don't agree with the basegame being in great shape. I think that T17's and the scarab rework resulted in a much more monotonous endgame.
    I also think the difficulty of T17's will likely have pretty big effects on build diversity in future leagues. I wouldn't be shocked to see one or two skill just completely dominating in future leagues because they are the only starters that can handle the content.
    Good video.

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад

      Thank you. The difficulty of t17's is a big miss, and it's entirely on the t17 mods. The maps themselves are fine. Not trivial, but not absurd. The t17 mods come in and crank everything up to 11.

    I really want to help you. So here goes. When the northern hemisphere of our planet has summer, the southern hemisphere (Where Australia, Brazil, New Zealand can be found) have winter. July is most commonly the coldest month. This is why in December, a summer month, there is vacation. It is hot so, no frozen gravity harnesses. :)

    This was the first league I crafted multiple six-link items and I just had a really good time. Note that I started the league very late so a lot was patched by then thanks to early player feedback.
    - 3 atlas trees? Huge W
    -easy early 6 links for noobs like me? W
    -ctrl + shift + left click. W
    -forcing league mechanics via atlas? W
    I blocked the lantern on the left side of my tree and ended up blasting anyway without embers or dragging modifiers around before every map. I didn't go 40/40 on the challenges, I don't know the game well enough for that, but I had a good time. That said, I've already wrapped up my season. There's not much left that I want to do so I'd just be grinding away for idk what.

      True, there's a lot to like in this league and patch. We can only hope they learn some of the important lessons from this league and add on them in Patch 3.25!

    I will miss the more deterministic crafting, this league I had a great time in SSF. For context I have tons of quads and solo stash tabs so I didn't relate to the inventory issues.

    The point about it being complex but not deep is so important because that's what ggg has been pushing with PoE 2.
    But you're right this is completely counter to that philosophy.
    Edit) I know it would require a huge rebalance but what about just more scarab slots?

  • @fofofoey

    Scarabs felt mandatory. And I thought Mark does not want a mechanic to feel mandatory.

    Saying that it was easy to craft good items is a bit disingenuous. That's something only the top 1% can say. No one can understand it without understanding core crafting mechanics and what is actually valuable. This league shows you why crafting is already good enough and is suffering from bloat. People need currency to drop to craft with and it seems they trying to reduce the amount of spam crafting but people didn't look at it this way. They need to reduce the grind in some manner so you aren't stuck on one build the whole league if you are more casual. I don't mind crafting but it shows how people view the time sink. The.corpse system was superior to conventional crafting methods but crafting as a whole is very random. It feels really bad to spend all your time trying to learn something only to be let down because it didn't work out. It makes you feel as if you made no progress. As long as a divine can drop, people will participate in the rat race and it makes for a healthier economy despite inflation or not. It keeps people playing.

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад +1

      That's fair. It definitely isn't easy to craft a high-tier item with the Necropolis, it's time-consuming and annoying-but it's VERY inexpensive compared to most standard crafting methods, and you have vastly more control over crafting than you would with any other method available in the post-Harvest state of the game.

    • @SilversTaurus
      @SilversTaurus 3 месяца назад

      Are you being serious? Corpses drop easily compared to crafting mats and doing it the normal way. I made a lot of good triple fractured t1 ele bows. Made a lot of other good stuff too. All of which you can't do or get normally.

    • @umtov
      @umtov 3 месяца назад

      Lol. look like you dont know what you are talking about. The amount of 6xT1 items with multiple fractures in this league could be more than the entire Standard league right now :D

    • @maslasod

      Quick comparation, by crafting stuff myself.
      It cost me 4 days to finish an endgame build last league 3.23 with a ton of currency drop
      And it cost me half of a day to make the same build, even better.
      But that's fair to your perspective. Not everyone likes crafting. To me, running same content day by day is boring. I like to try out many builds in the league, and this corpse league help me out with that.

    I absolutely loved this League. Not for the league itself or grave yard. But I like to delve, I am able to put in 1 sulphate all flame and 1 sulphate doubling scarab and in less than 1 t10 map I was maxed. First league I was able to completely ignore mapping and do what I like sooner and longer. 10/10 would play again.

    First League i quit after only 3 weeks, every other i played atleast 5-8 weeks. This time i had no fun with forced mechanics t17 farm was also shit. Econemy was in the bin after 2 weeks and necrocrafting got out of Hand(5 Fracture Items WTF). Chaseitems that where normally 100+ Divs you could get for 10 divs. I like to run after nice items or like to sell good items for a good price but when you get a headhunter the third day of the league and you think nice jackpot and it is only worth 40div you really have to ask you why did GGG hate the old playstyle of chaseitems and Grinding? Its in their name Grinding Gear Games

    i enjoy crafting mechanic this league. i can make stupid impossible stuff. my current project of a double influenced helm with spell damage(yes spell damage on a dex helm) and life fracturedfor a base to the ultimate strength stacking helmet. the fact i can boost the league mechanic even farther with atlas map is a huge bonus. if you dont want to spec into the league mechanic then dont. it sounds to me like you dont enjoy it so dont get it, simple. the fact i can choose to remove or amplified the league mechanic with atlas is a great benefit to me. at the end of the day besides trading for corpses this league was amazing

    Appreciate your take on this. T17's were really difficult and as a casual player, I got FOMO since I didn't have the gear/build/time to really get to do them. I agree a slight rework of those modifiers would be beneficial and help with that jump from T16's to Ubers.

    6:38 This is the reason I dipped out of the league despite liking legitimately every part of the mechanic. GGG obviously didn't have the testers test in yellow maps and higher or these sorts of interactions would have become obvious.
    8:53 This is also the first league I've had a 6x T1 Item. I simply don't play enough during the part of the league where trade hasn't died yet to get enough currency to buy one after they shoot up to 50+div in week two. Let alone a Rog hit or making one myself.
    10:35 This is legit a screwup. And again one that should have been caught in even rudimentary testing.
    11:50 I mostly ran Back to Basics with all four Necropolis nodes. The game just runs so much smoother with all the mechanics turned off and not randomly dying to the lagspike of loading in new mobs. (Black thumb is a staple in my trees for this reason.)
    19:35 I dabbled some with Unwavering Vision when I found that all I was getting was add a mecnaic scarabs...which if I wanted a mechanic I'd 100% it on the tree so were really worthless. You'd think 20 extra points would be really strong...turns out it's just kinda mid even compared to the most common scarabs.
    22:40 It now also conveniently lands at about week three in Last Epoch's first post-release 'league'. So a nice timing to really crush their only legitimate competitions retention.
    My hopes for 3.25 ...are not the same as yours. I want to see gravecrafting go core without a harvest-style nerf, but be highly optional, probably behind an atlas keystone. With some massive additional restriction to keep 6x T1 items from flooding the market. I'd go so far as to consider a cannot be traded enchant on items from gravecrafting.
    The league mechanic on tree experiment is salvageable, but not the way they did it. I'm thinking a Keystone that acts like a timeless jewel for the atlas, transforming one of the other mechanics into the league one.
    And the lantern could honestly go core basically as is, now that we've beta tested its interactions for them. Stick it behind an atlas keystone so the people that complained about having to futz with it every map don't have to deal with it.

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад

      Timeless jewels on the atlas is a really fun idea!

  • @Meisen1977
    @Meisen1977 3 месяца назад

    One thing that REALLY annoyed me this league was the inability to change up stuff after you "activate" the map. You see the lantern stuff and think; oh nice, let me do x and y and z to take advantage of this, but no... everything is locked. That created totally unnecessary fomo-ish feelings. Bad bad bad design, but that's not a foreign concept this league...

  • @johannes1022
    @johannes1022 3 месяца назад

    i personally think the point where you mention you only farm 1 league mechanic nowadays is a non argument. like yes it is true, but if you want to mix it up more often there is literally 3 diffrent strats you can change on a whim now. but mayb thats me not being against supercharging one mechanic.

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад

      That's kinda true, and definitely something they were considering when giving players the freedom to swap trees back and forth.
      With that being said, it is something a lot of players have complained about, but maybe people just hate change.

    Keep it up and Im looking forward to the next league as well. I enjoyed Necropolis despite the rocky roads - it’s so nice to see how great GGG is with experimenting new things and using POE 1 like a little playground for POE2.
    Very well prepared videos with lots of good, wealthy and helpful information.
    Btw for anyone who likes Toxic Rain (of withering) like you do, you might check out my Assassin’s version which is surprisingly the only build on poe ninja this league -> grilleeerr
    Since u seem to be experienced with Toxic Rain… is Pathfinder so much stronger? And if so, what’s making the difference to lets say my example/Assassin Toxic Rain?
    Stay safe exile ✌️

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад +1

      That's definitely an interesting build idea! Assassin has definitely been left aside by the community in recent patches, and it's really not a bad build. It has VERY limited defensive power, which is the biggest weakness plaguing it, but the offensive power is really, really good, especially for a poison build. One huge offensive advantage that Pathfinder brings (even more than Poison Proliferation if you're playing a poison setup), is the built-in Wither stacks and 50% Increased Wither Effect. Nature's Reprisal is just so, so good for any kind of Chaos damage build. Having permanent flask uptime makes you consistent defensively and keeps you moving very fast all the time, as well.
      Being down in the Ranger starting area is really good for a bow build, you don't lose out on passive points travelling down that way, but having played Toxic Rain Tricksters & Champions in the past, non-Ranger TR builds can absolutely work!

    I think they dont care about league retention. They make all their money in the first week with starter packs and etc..

    • @PathofEvening
      @PathofEvening  3 месяца назад

      Pretty much. They definitely care about players liking the game and having fun, etc., but Chris explicitly said in his GCD talk "Designing Path of Exile to Be Played Forever" that they market toward and emphasize the first few weeks of a league because that's where all of their money is made.
      Players make a big deal out of the difference between 30% and 20% player retention at the halfway mark, but you have to figure it's not a huge deal to GGG.
