Colman known for trailer trash units. So Colman decided to keep their junk by using micro channels. Hackers install shit and charge high dollar to elderly people. That there makes my blood boil.
Yep I agree, this time Steve I think you might have done more harm than good you definitely don't fix that unit. The pressures did not look good and yes before putting in gas as you call it go look at what you have for an air handler unit? And if that's the problem . Don't take the job if you do not want to fix the problem and putting in "gas" didn't fix this problem.
I was thinking maybe the liquid line is only 5/16 and reducing the refrigerant flow to the evaporator. Tried to see but could tell by the video. Will you return to follow up and check what’s in the attic when it’s cooler?
As Ted would say, "another gas and go"! LOL! I think calling the installer back could give the old girl a whole lot more headaches! Maybe reaching out to Coleman and see if there's a reputable Coleman tech in her area? Hackers just be hackers! You just get the feeling if the guy comes back he's gonna get her for a lot more money!
That's due to the SEER rating. Southwest and southeast required 14 minimum, other parts of the country were only 13. That has now been bumped to 15 and 14, respectively. I believe they can continue to install existing stock of the prior minimum though. I think Steve has installed a few 13 SEER units this year because the supply house still had them in stock, even though the minimum is now 14.
U are doing a good job helping her out but that previous tech that took advantage of that lady should not be in the hvac trade and a mokey could have done better than that person did
My HVAC mentor has a 1996 Coleman Evcon unit that still works. I’ve done maintenance and topped off R-22 in it, but it still runs. This was before Johnson Controls took ownership and ruined everything.

I have a Goodman; no issues. I do get her regarding that thermostat. Too complex. A simple round Honeywell with the mercury contacts works the best. We had a lux thermostat in an outbuilding that the contact points froze together and the furnace ran the temperature past 100 degrees before the points finally opened. Replaced it with a used Honeywell round and it's been fine.

Yeah not what the customer wants to hear especially older seniors - they already feel like shit enough. Typical Steve move though. He’s always gotta stress the customer out and make them believe the job is way harder then it is or they got a shit show going on - basically anything he didn’t touch first or install first is a piece of shit lol. Don’t let him fool you he goes in gets the customer all worked up when half the jobs are typical easy fixes and then charges them up the ass after he makes sure they are real stressed and worried about how bad and tough of a job it’s going to be to fix. He does the same on a flippin toilet install like it’s the end of the world.
I don’t understand that you use someone else to install a new system and it’s not working but yet you call Steve to fix it since you didn’t feel comfortable with the other guy. Why didn’t you just call Steve in the first place to put your system in.
Looks like your bad comments about Coleman being junk are just a personal opinion. Yes Coleman AC units are budget but they get Great reviews and also have a top notch warranty that's hard to beat. Hi Steve from Ocean View, VA. Absolutely love your videos and your common sense way of doing business. All the best to you and Molly.
Maybe it will act as a BBQ grill also. It's a Coleman!

That is a York or as you say and I totally agree a piece of York Colman York Johnson controls ect
York died when Johnson controls switched to microchannel. They also moved to condenser production Mexico a few years back. Definitely doesn’t help.
Steve, when are you going to post another real man cooking video. 👍
Subcool is way too high. Flooding the condenser. They probably never even mounted the bulb.
When replacing a condenser what brands do you recommend steve

Install prohibited in the southwest and southeast? I'm in Georgia, there are plenty of Coleman units around here. Especially in trailers.
