  • As the series continues, John, Alex, and Allen look at how our culture clings to the belief that practical information is the way to salvation. Yet as this information on the Internet is continually contradicted and undermined, we grow more fragile, vulnerable, and cynical. It has made weary skeptics of us all. Even in the area of faith, we try to make God and his kingdom 'practical' by stripping it of all wonder, mystery, and power. Thankfully, there is a way out of the madness.

We are only disciples of the Internet to the extent we allow it to govern our lives! We need to Guard our Hearts, Time, Energy and Peace ❤️

The global mind jam and the logical religion introduced in the late 19th century. We forgot to teach reason AND mystery God gifted us with.

WE have to be SO intentional to carve out time to sit with God and wait on His timing. It will lead us to a deep, rich faith. It will help guard us when the storms come

This episode has helped me connect dots that I was missing in the first one.
The story of your friend asking what are the practical steps to loving God really hit home. I don't need to read the "Ten best steps to loving God". I just need to do it and out of doing it, I will learn how too do it and do it better.
In life, we will need to get into the weeds of thing and understand how's and why's, but not everything. It's ok to have a surface understand and just go with it.
    Grace and peace, friends

I can't tell you how much this has helped! Just naming one part of what this huge lack of trust & CONFUSION is coming from; I feel a little less crazy in my drive to get to the bottom of things, "the truth!" 😳😬🤔🫣😶‍🌫️🙄😵‍💫😷🤯😖😠😡😅 😭😱
My awakening 😳 started with the great pandemic of 2020 when everything was constantly changing and recognizing the lack of trustworthy of so many different so-called "authorities & experts." 🤦‍♀️🤞🙄🤪
This is really, really good! 💥🌠✨️💫👊🤝👏
Thank you all so much for this and for all your ministry in the past decades. May God richly bless you and I look forward to the next podcast! Glory to God!🙋‍♀️👏🕊🌿🪻🌠🙏🎶🔥🕯💐

Practical = 10 ways to a better life, the 5 point sermon, 10 steps to financial security, etc. How many YT videos start with these words? It's no wonder we have these issues in our relationship with God and with others! We have zero patience and zero desire for mystery. I love the mystery of God. The wonder of the Trinity, the virgin birth, and so much more. We need to let God be God. Without the mystery, we undermine His power and sovereignty.

This i know, when i fail to view all of a day through the robe of righteousness not one shred of truth, not one beam of insight will show forth the all-surpassing glory of God. Rather, the impact further constricts and constrains my "clayness"; I am more fragile, prone to cracking under pressure.
Holy Spirit, be fure within me, proving Your indwelling and intention for securing my hope in what is unseen.
The current of Mystery ,the very breath in my lungs, swelling my being with stillness.

this was so good. I watched it twice. The instant has become the expectation in our culture, even within the church

wow. Not excluding the whole thing, but minutes 23:00 through 27:00 are absolute gold. A very important thought, very well put and well delivered.

Engaging in this table talk, I revisit the "robe of righteousness. The only Giver of this is Jesus Christ. Any other material offered is a mere scrim- a distortional , shifting imagery, displaying the distractions and schemes designed to deceive .
But we have the mind of Christ.
The Truth of "be still" and "know I Am God" is positional. Look out from inside the robe of righteousness and perceive from His Presence.... this ,alone, guards and guides the restoring of one's life.

For those of us that were already cynical, and struggled with unbelief deep down in the sub-conscious, this has been devastating.

Concerning "breaking things down", I give you a quote from Gandalf: "...he that breaks a thing to find out what it is has lost the path of wisdom."

Actually, I was asking that question about practical ways to love God a decade before internet was available

You know the thing that gets me annoyed about finding wonder. It's so hard to come by in story. Any fantasy books that I've read in the 21st century build the wonder up and then ruin it by explaining the cause and the full history of it thereby devoiding it of any sense of being beyond understanding. That's what I love most about Tolkien, he has inexplainable characters in his stories (which he discovers as he writes them) and they always possess knowing something about nature or history which no other being, or very few that are "forgotten", know of. I suppose that's the truest form of wonder, it holds a secret which can never be grasped at because it will then slip through your fingers and run. Wonder in the end must be pursued and cannot be attained by devices or instruments. In the end moments of wonder happen when we experience something of the natural world and sensing some sort of more ancient and deeper magic which then enchants us. This podcast was really really helpful, massive thanks and big love to you all ❤✨

The corollary of the internet is the cell phone. I am using it now? WHY, do I turn around to get it when I forget it? It is a palm-held idol.

After listening to the last two podcasts, there are too many nuances that influence what information we should be pursuing, how we pursue it and from what sources. There are regimes that place restrictions or outright ban internet use by the public, in order to control the public. Secondly, a big reason why people search for additional information is because, by your own admission, the public has discovered deception on the part of government, the health industry, and big business…. Information gathering is not a finite, cookie-cutter, template driven exercise with a defined end. The intensity of the pursuit is subject specific and is individual specific based on what answers said individual is seeking….Can too much information be exhausting? Yes…. But that doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Too much analysis can be exhausting as well. Sometimes people just get tired of thinking all the time about life. Our access to information is both a blessing and a curse. However, the restricted flow of information is most certainly a curse-used as a control mechanism and steers public sentiment. Other than the extremes, there’s not an answer to this puzzle. The ultimate truth is the internet doesn’t replace God.

Thanks for this podcast on internet addiction. But as I listen your message, it seems you justify the time you choose to spend on internet, as if you are victims of the bad guy! Where does your responsibility stand in your freedom to follow God's guidance for your daily life? Should we not repent of our addictive habits and depend even more deeply in God to choose life instead of death?
