Carl rarely ran the 200 during non olympic years skipping 83 87 World Championships CALVIN SMITH WON THOSE 200 TITLES LOL.......Carl would've smoked him. He also skipped the 200 at the 91 World Championships. Were he ran a World Record 9.86 in the 100! But Carl Lewis was to busy trying to be a singer/movie star or something......which is sad.
Would have smashed the 200m world record in 1983 if he hadn't eased down and thrown his arms into the air 40m from the line. He would have run at least 19.60.
I think 200m would have suited him Lewis better because he was a bad starter. He was by far the fastest runner but he always had to come from behind. His great finish would have been even more deadly in the 200m.
