The thing is, with the IS-7, dont come running through corners like that especially against high explosive opponents.
Source: my arse who got ammo racked regularly on both the IS-3 and IS-7 until i figured it out.

Yup, it’s cause the ammo rack detectors are literally on the sides of the front slope armor, so anything explosive that pens in that area causes ammo damage or rack. (Applies to almost all IS-(#) tanks)

Trees don't have any hitbox, the only hit box they have is their base (you can make a tree fall by hiting the ground with an he shell next to it, but it can't stop a shell... unless it is in that freacking city map, indeed those park trees are indestructible)
