I had the solo when we played this in all district band last year. I take no credit but there were people in literal tears afterwards because of just how beautiful this song was written. I take no credit for it at all. This song as a whole is just so beautifully written
Very old song, I'm glad my band director decided to bring this back. It gives back so much memories, I don't know why. The melody just reminds me of an old song that I can't remember of but it's very nostalgic for me.
I love how so many of these are for honor bands. My band is doing this for our next concert. I am a very confident French Horn player. I absolutely love the horn part in this.
My band got to play this for MPA (Music Performance Assessment) and we made straight superior ratings (1's) and we even get to play it for spring concert 1 week from tomorrow we have had it almost all year because it was a part of our Christmas Concert as well! It will be in a "multi-media" with his song Ruckus, lol.
My band recently played this piece at 2 festivals, and relieved the highest rating that you can get. I would like to thank you for writing such an amazing, touching piece. We took the piece a bit slower, and the last chord was a bit... Bad, so to say... It was somewhat difficult to come in pp, but I think we got it!! Thank you so much, and continue doing what you are doing!
Honestly, I think it's significantly better (and pretty standard) to only have one Piccolo player because then the Flutes are overpowered by the Piccolos. There also isn't any reason to have more than one.
My band played this for a band competition and me "the Baritone" got a somewhat solo with the French horn player that we didn't have so we used a tenor sax player

My band gets to play this in about two weeks. We'll have the honor of being conducted by Randall Standridge himself.

This is a beautiful piece of music. I played it for Region Band today.
We had the privilege to play this at the Youth Piedmont Honor Band this past Friday. Amazing piece to play.

Great job on this piece! It has a great arrangement for horns, I really love it.
Listening to this as the vibes player about a week after the concert. Now realizing I was dragging horribly the entire time. Someone pass me a beer

The oboe part at the beginning is my favorite
I’m playing this in band and I love it ♥️ I just struggle a little bit with my part tho. (My part is trumpet 3)

My band did this, i would have got the solo, but the saxophone got it instead
Wait, this is played by 3rd graders? These 3rd graders are better than my Middle School band!
No lol. Grade 3 music is 4+years of playing. Advanced techniques
@@noahs.627 Oh. I feel stupid for not knowing that ;-;

It sucks that I’m the only euphonium and we have no French horn so the high part is my solo and I’m only in 7th grade so horray
