Great video, I bought a new in box Asus GTX 470 in 2017 ($90 CAD) from Amazon Canada. Used it for about a year, as my only graphics card. Then I got a RX 580 4GB and used that for a coupe of years. My grandson wanted to start a RUclips channel, so my son and I grabed some old parts we had laying around build him a computer to run his channel from. Yep the Asus GTX 470 was in there for about a year and then my son exchanged cards with him and now my son uses it on their home computer and my grandson has a GTX 970 in his computer. It's nice to see it's still useable...

its the difference of what to do with enough money for a console in 2022 vs 2010. if you had 300 bucks in 2010, a PS3 was literally the most power you could get for that buck, and both that or an Xbox 360 would be better options for a gamer. that same amount of money now, especially after the crash of the crypto market early this year, could be used to build a PC at the same or better spec than a PS4 Pro or Xbox One's equal revision

I bought a pair of these at launch (EVGA models) and paired them with my QX6700 that ran at 3Ghz. Due the motherboard layout, I had to sandwich my X-fi sound card between the two GTX 470's. Needless to say, within a year, the prodigious heat from the 470's roasted the sound card and it failed. About 3 months after than the top card also failed, likely due to excessive heat. I RMA'd the failed card, and EVGA sent me a GTX 570 as a replacement, which meant that SLI wasn't possible. So I called them back and they said that they didn't have any replacement GTX 470's , but said that if I sent them the working 470, they'd send me another 570. Which sounded good to me. So I sent them the remaining 470 and sure enough, they send me a new 570 and I was back in the SLI business. The GTX 570's seemed to run a bit cooler, I never had any trouble with them, they were just short on VRAM.

@@HeyItsJonny Not sure if I've tried that one or not but I have played a bit of gzdoom ultimately the last builds I tried a little over a year ago I preferred Zandronum though. Kind of got tired of modding so I just strip it down and usually play PSX Brutal doom 13.3 or 13.1 can't remember offhand on my main rig and on this rig I just setup all out pc doom with brutal modern 20 although I may go with a older version of brutal mostly because too burnt out to un mod this version of brutal, the custom sound effects are too loud as usual and it takes a day usually to get it all toned down. I think I prefer 19 overall but I love the pistol idea in newer brutals it would be worth the time to make sort of a balance between brutal and vanilla doom.

Here is some information to help you. Especially in Linux systems, if these GPU cards (400 series, 500 series fermi) are used in a dual core or quad core low-power PC, the net power consumption for the PC is modest. For example, I have a dual core system for linux (1.6 to 1.8GHz although it can be overclocked) which can run at 18 watt but can largely do about 12 Watt and so paired with a card like this, the PC net power consumption would not be massive even though it is all mainly on the GPU. It is good for ecology to learn about computer repair and electronics too on the other educational and science/technology software one might install from a software centre or find on the rescue DVD or CDROM itself. In particular Linux Kernel 3.1 has nouveau open source drivers support for the aforementioned GPU cards and it works in Knoppix 7.1 _(which does rescue CD stuff, like UBCD538 does, and a bunch more software which can use the GPU)_ and also LinHES _(for the CD 685MB iso of LinHES 8.2 has kernel 3.13.6 thereby allowing some video and audio techniques to be used)_ and even the oldest version of Ubuntu 14.04 if one uses wubi.exe to go into and out of cloop linux by MSwindows. This is also useful to know that cards in that range for older system allow for a person to use an HDD (spindle and platters) for a journaling filesystem like Reiser4.04 so as to not need a large amount of RAM like ZFS can do and yet it is still fast _(and you can use swap space on such drives)._ Older Linux has that File-System on the kernel _(although you can still get it on some custom debian distros nowdays)._ Performance wise for an HDD, that Reiser4.04 filesystem is one I recommend. This knowledge is worth learning about and helping others with. That is a thing I do here and there. I have a blog linked on my YT About Page showing how and am adding computer articles in multiple languages like Urdu and some computer learning tips and (e.g. linux) links that could be read in a language that could be understood by Ethiopians for example.
My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.

I would like to add that, when the multilingual websites I link to (above) are taken down as websites (some of which were), my link still works because I provided more links for backups and cache the data because it is usually creative commons or public domain or GPLv2 or similar. Now, I have thereby added twice as many links including for slackware and squid server instructions in urdu with crontab guides and computing basics (hardware component guides). Taking down the larger hydra head of GNU and linux cannot be done since we all have iso files of kernels and the man pages including how on CDROM number 3 and 4 of slackware, the slackbook guidelines are stored for all to learn from. See more for linux guidelines as examples in urdu and amharic.

I'm not sure about later "blower" style cars, but the 200 and 400 series had some really complex coolers. You needs to take a LOT of screws off especially if there is a backplate on these cards and it's a tricky process. It's typically very easy these days, though EVGA does throw a "hidden" nut in their high end cards to make it more difficult to take apart.
