I get why third person can be superior but man 1st person is so much more fun and immersive.
Spears are ridiculously broken in this game, the knockback from just blocking it is ridiculous too. Can't even get close enough as man at arms to land a counter.
I'm not a particularly good player but watching your vids have helped make me a much better player. Watching you playing really well has helped me push to the top of the leaderboard in quite a few games. Thanks for the great vids

The spears animations blew me away in first person when i first used it, especially the overhead, so satisfying to combo

I know its off topic, but there is a reason why since the battlefield took to the skies with biplanes, its been proven that the side with air superiority and maintain it are bound to win. Jets are jets and a heli is a heli. A well rounded team can do it all
Having a mobile(footwork) playstyle I never noticed the spear being all too horrible, I was always able to dodge them, and for the people using them I tended to face them down pretty easily, but understandably if a player knows the range of a weapon it can be insanely hard to close in, the movement in this game being built up rather than instant sprint makes it really tough. I was able to do some real damage especially in groups with the 1h spear

FOV on console is locked, but you can play in third person. I play on Xbox and I just always am in 3rd unless I'm throwing something. Or if I ever played archer (which I wouldn't, because I'm a warrior and not a cowering simp shooting sticks)
Archers were so much more than that. They were an essential part of an army. It was an archer that killed King Harold Godwinson in 1066 which began the Medieval era. Don’t disrespect my boys in the back lol
you should try the skirmisher and ambusher classes. They’re like archers, but at the same time they're like, not archers.

both 3rd and 1st person have their pros and cons. it all boils down to what's most suitable for you
Most play in 3rd since it's easier for FOV reasons.
1st is really only useful for tossing projectiles or playing as an archer
I know it's two years late but in battlefield one the Machine Gunner class has access to a high explosive rocket gun that will destroy aircraft from the ground
Yeah my point was less that there weren't any options available against planes, more so that if the opponent has good pilots then you're at their mercy.

fov over 100 in first person by default seems way high. it more than likely 60-70 by default. way worse

So I don’t know about fov but console players aren’t locked on first person.
You are correct that console cant change fov unfortunately! We can use third person still though:)

In battlefield 1, there were AA guns in most of the maps that absolutely destroy planes
True, but I found that if the other team had good pilots they'd be on top of the AA guns very quickly and there's still not much you can do about it. I think there were some LMGs you could equip that were decent at taking down planes but ultimately there weren't many options available to the player.

It was a part of the basic attacks the one-handed spear had at the time. I haven't played much since I uploaded this video and I recall the devs saying they were going to rework the weapon, so if that's what they ended up doing then unfortunately there's not much I can help with. Sorry!

Yeah I agree. The animations aren't the best but the main issue is just how fast it is for the amount of reach it has. Essentially it's just the one handed sword but with twice the reach.

@@TrixMelee the reach is fine. Its a spear afterall. What is not fine is the knockback the enemy gets, blocked or not.
@@TrixMelee Tbh the amount of reach is fine for me, but yeah the speed is akin to the 1h sword. You shouldnt be able to wield a spear one-handed with that kind of speed without some kind of drawback.
@@NPC-ch3vw Yeah my issue isn't with the reach, it's the speed/damage relative to the reach of the weapon. The fact that the one handed spear is about just as effective at range than a halberd is quite crazy. That, and the animations are much harder to read. Naturally the halberd and regular two handed spear already fill that role of long stabby weapons so the one handed spear should be balanced in a way to bridge the gap between the one handers and two handers. You'd probably want to slow it down and reduce it's damage a bit. I'd probably dabble with reducing the reach of it, albeit very slightly, just to see how that works. Being able to use a shield already makes it quite strong, despite it's speed and damage, purely because of the stamina (and archer protection) benefits so I doubt these nerfs would hit it hard at all.
Edit: Knockback needs to be adjusted relative to the reach of a weapon too, but to be honest knockback hasn't been a huge thing since Chivalry 1. Counters (and Mordhau's chambers) basically made it irrelevant because for the most part it just ignores knockback. This is an absolute shame because footwork and positioning suffer because of this. It's much harder to crowd control if your opponent doesn't get knockbacked when they defend themselves, and the minute someone gets behind you or to your sides in a 1vX you're a dead man.
so in conclusion you should probably have a look at the recent battlefield trailers... also never had a problem with vehicles personally think you just need to look at how to counter the jets more effectively

I think this is also a netcode problem. There's no animation ping extrapolation like what Mordhau has, as far as I'm aware, so a lot of the time an attack will hit you before the animation does. Chivalry 1 had the same issue.
@@TrixMelee that would make so much sense. there are times when id block but get hit anyways or a stab would go off when its visibly still in windup. i hope they can find a way to fix this and the other bugs because i really enjoy this game and i dont want people to get frustrated and quit
Ok, i see your argument but isnt that kinda the point in picking a smaller/ weaker wep? Like, the trade off and what not. cuz i cant 1 shot with a sword if im being honest.
@@thefifthaceassociation theres nothing wrong with the weapons being faster, theres just a point where theyre so fast with already good base damage and range that it becomes kinda ridiculous. ever fought one handed sword users? more unfun then messer players. so much faster, still good damage and surprising reach, and most of them just spam left click
