I have a zip level and almost bought this to have a second foundation measuring device for when the zip level needs service. The thing that stopped me from buying it was when I saw the rear of the unit. I knew right than it wouldn't be accurate and a pain to use. It reminds me of my first device I used to use which was filled with rv antifreeze it was a pain because it got bubbles in it all the time after every job. Problems with accuracy. I said to myself no way I'm going through all this every time I measure a foundation. I see I made the right choice just buy an extra zip it works flawlessly time after time doesn't use it's zero set. It saves me so much time not having to worry about air bubbles.

I’m a user of this device for over two years. Zero issues. And I have had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of Smart Level at some trade shows, Ive also spoken to the zip and moasure people. I’d like to clear up a few claims that were made in this video. It is mineral oil in the tube, the cord has never coiled and knotted, although I always try to get it to lay flat. The strain relief is not needed because that is where you would unscrew the cord from the display inside if you ever needed to. The black piece on the bottom is where the manufacturer fills the inside of the display with a coating to keep the display water resistant. You can dip the display in water. It is made 100% in Huntsville Alabama. If you use an android, you are best to turn your device off and on again to avoid the possibility of crashing as is stated in this video. Both app’s mentioned in the video are exactly the same. There are two styles of Smart Level out in the market. (One is Branded for unilock). Accurate to 1/16”. Not sure why you would need it to be any more than that. When you are taking readings, you can not move the base unit or the readings will be off. My unit has always repeated back to its original zero. If the cord moves, the reading will change, you need to keep the cord still, (there is a windy mode in the app) also, if the cord is kinked, it will not read properly. All in all we have been very happy with our U Level, it does way more than a zip level and if you do 3D design it goes hand in hand with realtime landscape architect. Hopefully this clears up a few things in this video.

The inconsistent and wandering measurements I experienced were well beyond the stated tolerances, as mentioned in the video. The base was not moved or bumped. The strain relief is necessary to keep the vinyl tube from bending or prematurely failing.

I owned a Smart Level/DLS many years ago. I wound up throwing it away because I found it to be unreliable and my conscience would not permit me to sell it to someone else.

RTK is not that accurate, 10cm without correction, 1cm if corrected but not 0.01 inch.

Thanks! I need one and have been debating. What is the cost to service the Zip Level? That's what I'm going to go with.

You can pull the rubber piece out and screw the Unapod into it.

I'm not quite sure what your question is. Can you clarify? If it is about how a manometer works - which I believe is how this level operates - the video at this site sort of explains the principal.

I will not be buying a smart level because of your review! Hopefully they offer you the $200 back in order for you to take down this video. If they do tell them you want $400 and you'll take down the video😮😅 because you have to restock your video to your computer it's a restocking fee😂
