    How to recover from running? I would strongly recommend getting some Slide Sandals, especially the Hoka One One Ora Slide Sandal. These sandals are simply amazing for recovering from your long distance runs. I prefer the Hoka sandals over the Oofos sandals because they offer more support for the arch. The arch on the Hoka Ora Recovery slide sandal is simply amazing. I love the Oofos sandal, but it does feel too soft, and not enough support for the arch in the foot. Running injuries are also difficult for running enthusiasts. I am suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, and it is so painful. However, I'm trying to stay patient and consistent in my body maintenance for taking care of the PF. It has been a big year of running for me with training for a 50-mile race and 100-mile race. Therefore, I need to up my game in the stretchings, massage, and physical therapy department. The Hoka One One Recovery slide sandals will play a key part in this recovery from a big year of running, and we are not done yet!

    I fractured my heel and that lead to PF in that foot. Almost all heel pain. I did all the stuff the doc told me to do and nothing was helping long term. Then I found OOFOS. They were the only shoe I wore for 6 months and it healed my foot. I did all the stretches, etc as well, but the shoe was a must for me.

    I prefer the hokas because of the arch support, gives the arch a bit of a break after a run and there is such a thing as too soft lol. I work at a running store and sell oofos which and really see them more as a everyday sandal not necessarily for recovery. Your foot is constantly working in the oofo where as with the hoka it can rest.

    The Oofos actually helped resolve my plantar fasciitis. I find it hard to believe that Oofos could have caused it.

    • @doctorkenfitness4334
      @doctorkenfitness4334 5 лет назад +7

      Any cushioned footwear option may help resolve short term pain of PF, but even with proper stretching and cushioning, many suffer from chronic PF, like this gent. My podiatrist friends attribute this to lack of arch support and excessive heel mobility, which is why medical literature supports a RIGID heel and arch support if stretching and cushion don't resolve PF within 1-3 months.

      yeah thats cuz ALL Asics running shoes, especially when you made this comment have like 12 mm of offset aka heel to toe drop. Whereas brands like Hoka has half that or even less, between 4 mm to 6 mm. If you have plantar you need to get pressure off the front of your foot and onto the heel. sounds wrong because plantar pain is often in the heel. but this is how it works. in order to do that you want low drop footwear, ideally zero drop. The excessive drop is one reason I don't wear Asics running shoes, the other reason is they run small, tight, short and shallow. I like new balance because their regular width is almost like a 4E in Asics and they have tons of models with very low drop, with tons of cushioning to boot. and you don't need the crazy stack heights to get some squish, all the asics models have like 40 mm stack heights.

    My coach and friends on my team wear the hoka slide all the time. Personally, I wear hokas as normal trainers everyday and would love to add the slide to my recovery process. But yes, marathoners and distances under that wear these tons. Keep up the good work Seth, you make me want to even more all the time. I appreciate the vids.

    I stumbled onto the Hoka Ora recovery sandals 2 winters ago on sale. I didn't wear them until summer and initially took some getting used because they seemed very high, like I was gonna roll my ankle in them. However, after probably a couple days this was not the case at all and I pretty much wear these slides anytime I am not in shoes. I was a college athlete before these were around, have a history of pf and shin splints and feet that bruise easily. I love these slides. They are very comfy and supportive. I deliver mail and until recently was walking across all terrain 10-20 miles a day every day. I also had a ridiculous amount of flights of stairs for about 6 mo that that gave my knees a beating. So...I have to take care of my feet. I have never tried the oofas. The only issue I have with the recovery slides is I am one of those people who has to pull laces tight as they go on shoes so the eyelets are touching...so despite my feet being women's 9.5 if I were to size up to women's 10 I likely would not be able to keep the slides on as the arch over the forefoot would be way too loose. I ordered online and went the half size smaller to a 9 and that arch fits just right, but the slides are not quite long enough. Even with this small issue, these are easily my favorite recovery slides. I have not stylish sandals and flops but these just feel so amazing. I feel like in 2 years I may have worn them down a bit and am waiting for another sale.
    I've also worn the Hoka Bondi black leather shoes for work. They have the most cushion, but my issue becomes I need a roomier toe box. I can't go to just a wider shoe because with my narrow heel...I'll step right out.

    I use the OOFOS daily for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome foot pain. I have fallen arches, and am walking on my bones. The OOFOS are the only shoes I’ve found that help relieve any of the pain I have with walking. However, since they’re not really “stylish” for going out, I do also like the support from Spenco, Algeria’s, & avionics. Not sure if you’ve checked them out?

    I have had plantar fasciitis on my left foot for 2 months now. I saw both these brands recommended, so I got the Hoka Ora Recovery Slides and the Oofos slides. Both are comfortable, but the level of support is different. The Hokas provide firmer support and the Oofos are much softer and more “squishy”. I’m going to wear them both on alternating days and see which one helps me more.

    I wish you had reviewed the oofos slide instead of the thong, it is much more apples to apples. Part of what you may have run into is the issue of toe flex that occurs with thong sandles. My oofos slides are much better for my PF than the flip flops.

    • @kathieharrop3053
      @kathieharrop3053 2 года назад

      Hey Derek. Great point. You have to compare slides to slides. Very different outcome with such a slight unconscious gripping of the toes to keep the flip flop on. So not a really good comparison between Oofos flip flop and Hoka slides. I just bought a pair of Oofos slides yesterday and wore them for the first time. I’m in love!!! I am, however, buying a pair of Hoka too, as they are less expensive, and what the hell! Why not? 👍

    I have the Hoka , do all recovery sandals have a bulged middle ? It’s lower in the heel , high in the middle and extra low in the toe ... they feel great walking (kinda propel the foot as you roll over the hump) but standing they hurt the middle of my feet.

    Did the Hokas soften up after a few months of wear or do they just as firm as when you bought them? I just bought a pair of Hoka Ora slides to wear around the house and they feel a bit weird, almost over-supportive. I just felt that most other slides out there - Adidas, Under Amour, Nike etc, had no support and were very flat and hard. Thanks for the video!

    my girlfriend has the oof. thats what I call it because of how it looks. oof indeed. Anyway its not like the hoka looks much better but I'm thinking about getting her one. either another pair of oofs, the Hoka or this Olukai Ohana thing. The ohana looks the most normal. really good reviews, but I'm thinking the hoka looks mega comfortable. can finally get those old oofs out of my life for good. if she likes it. either one is $60 these days. the Ohana is $75. $35 5 years ago huh, yeah that seems to make more sense, a lot more reasonable. why should a single chunk of molded foam cost $60?

    I tried Oofos this summer for the first time and I have Fibromyalgia, I am really not a running, I am lucky to feel good walking all day. But, I was looking for reviews on the sandals. I have to say they saved me. I was able to have more standing and walking time because I could walk and stand without as much pain. The Oofos are incredible.
    One thing I found with the Oofos after wearing the same pair the entire summer. That include with dresses shorts etc, that you can wear them out and they need to be replaced.
    I purchased a pair of the Breast cancer “Pink” edition this week and it was amazing to feel the difference. So, I think the key to the Oofos is replace them before they wear out.
    I am going to try the Hoka because of the price point and my husband prefers a slide. Thank you for the review. 👍🏻

      Hi Carol!
      I haven't tried out any of these sandals yet but I can really understand what you mean. For me Plantar Fasciitis socks also helped a lot with my feet and heel pain and for three years I wouldn't leave the house without it. But the reason I'm writing a comment because my chronic inflammation has went away after two weeks of changing my diet. The biggest part was ditching all gluten which helped drastically for me and I have read online that most people who have Fibromyalgia responds the same. Are you on a gluten free diet right now?
      Additional to that it turned out I have SIBO (abnormally high) and probably leaky gut so I've switched from a mostly carb diet to a low carb high fat moderate protein diet. Basically I don't eat stuff that doesn't have antioxidants or vitamins in it like rice, corn, bread(not even gluten free) and now I feel better than ever. Also it turned out that vitamin D might have an effect on the gut so I have tested my blood for it and it was very low so now I take vitamin D supplements too.

I had a botched knee replacement which affects my hip and sciatic. My heels and the outside edge of my feet kill me after an hour or so. So I don't think I need recovery persay. I have hoka sneakers and they do decent. Summer is coming and I hate sweaty feet so I want to wear slides. What brand and style should I try?? I will try the Hoka for sure to make my own opinion and already have Oofos Ooahh Sport Flex at home. But my question is why you compare a flip flop with a slide sandal here. At least, compare a slide model from each company to be fare. If you go see a podiatrist, he will say right right from the start that slides are better than flip flop for your feet. It helps prevent digital contracture and hammering of your toes. That's probably why you were getting uncomfortable after a while using your Oofos flip-flop. Compare Oofos and Hoka slides in the same price range and I think you will probably get the same results. From what I hear around me daily, the 2 company are the best, After that, it really depends on the foot shape and the type of exercice. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps other active people taking decisions.

      @@BigfootRunning how's it going. Question? I'm interested in the Oofos. I have big foot too sz15 but i have very very wide feet 6 EEEEEE with very fat wide toe. Do you know if they make them for wide feet. The only footwear that will fit me is flip flops which I have to wear to work and for casual. Lucky that my job is not an office job. I moved and The place I bought my flip flop from went out of business so I'm having trouble finding a pair that will fit me. I need a second pair to wear. my first pair I have has four years of 365 day of wear on them. I am surprise my flip flops held up this long with my very very wide feet. There is no shoe or sock that's wide enough for my foot which is a big problem for me. Thank you and have a nice day.

    Oofos sandals makes you “carry” them, cause your toes have no “roof”, not enough upper support. Cloudy cushion though 👍
    I’d recommend the slide or clog over the slippers. I use them as shower slippers now.

    • @SethJamesDeMoor

      Brandon, I would lean toward the Hoka sandal if you have a higher arch. If your foot is a little more flat, then you can probably get away with the Oofos, especially if you have strong ankles and you don't over pronate when you walk or run.

    You've nailed it and I've had the same experience with loving my oofos, but realizing (the hard way) that they don't provide enough support. I developed achilles tendonitis, most likely because I pretty much only wear my oofos unless going to they gym, going for a run or playing disc golf. All that dog walking around my neighborhood has caused the tendonitis so I'm going to get some Hoka slides to wear around the house and running shoes only for walking the dog.

    I have the Hoka Slides. They are comfortable and supportive. CONS: If I wear them on uneven surfaces, I tend to turn my ankle. It happens a lot. Also if I don't wear them with socks, then they pull on my top-of-foot hair. Driving in slides is also not recommended. I prefer sandles that have heel straps. BTW, I am a marathoner, and yes, we wear recovery sandles/shoes

    I have both the hokas and the oofos. I suffer from plantar faciitis and fibromyalgia. I prefer the oofos as I can be on my feet all day and have zero foot pain at the end of the day. Whereas after wearing the hokas my plantar faciitis is painful at the end of the day. My oofos did stretch out and needed replacing after about 6months. The hokas have held up extremely well.
