This video saved me over $350 for a new key fob! Mine was working maybe 1 out of 5 clicks, if I was lucky. Now it works EVERY click! On a 10 year old fob! THANK YOU!!! :)

My fob stopped working and your video inspired me to take it apart. Didn't have any corrosion, but I found tiny piece on the green board that was out of place. I put it back and it works like a charm. Saved me a trip to the dealer and probably a ton of money, and I'm no longer frustrated when trying to open my door or worrying I've left it unlocked. Thank you!

I bought my first Subaru 5 years ago, I have found it easy as a beginner to work on. One of the best financial decision I've ever made! Thanks for the video.

Had same issue. Used CRC QD Electronic Cleaner spray and a Q-Tip. Did not have magnification so I just sprayed and wiped board with Q-Tip..

Thank you! In my case, it was bad "+" contact with the battery and caused the FOB's random work.

I've changed the batteries in my car's key fobs several times without incident until today. Your video and the tip about the arrows lining up on the button covers was exactly what I needed! As soon as I fixed that, everything worked again!! Thanks for the tip!

Good straight forward information. I will add my experience about my 2013 Subaru Outback. 10 year old battery in the main key fob gave up the electron ghost on my last click to unlock the door. Exceedling grateful it was not the last click to lock the door. :) Changing the battery is brain-dead simple, but there do seem to be a mish-mash of fob styles used across the brand. My fob is the same as in this video...others have the same as used in 2014 and 2015 models. I checked the battery, which at 2.9 volts on these CR1620 is a dead battery. I then checked the battery on the spare key and it was 3.0 volts. The voltage on the spare was too close for comfort so both key fobs got new CR1620 cells that had 3.29 volts on each cell.
These are lithium cells and the nominal charge is 3 volts, however, the full charge will usuall be 3.3, or there abouts. Once these cells hit that 2.9 vdc they are essentially dead for most electronics. At 3 volts, they are on their way to being dead and it is a luck of the draw, based on the electronics how long it takes for the cell to get to 2.9 vdc. I have seen a few videos where the newer fobs will not function at 3 vdc. If in doubt...change the battery.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Very true indeed, the 3V lithium does seem fine at close to 3V and can still be dead. It is best to test under load and some testers similar to the battery tester I have will have a small resistor across the meter contacts to pull just a little on the cell to show a true reading. Under load these cells will drop voltage fast if drained, but they will bounce back up sometimes close to 3V once load is removed.

What's the internal part called? The part that's in the car

I believe it's known as a receiver that communicates to the cars computer. Considered to be a part of the immobilizer system.

Source for rf detector of keyfob? I was thinking micro switches were the problem. Thanks for the look.
