You are most welcome. Thank you, Sam, for uploading this. Even though SJtD is an architectural mess in its unfinished state, it is still an extraordinary edifice housing one of my FAVORITE organs.
I agree, even though it was never finished or will be finished, it is still my favorite cathedrals and organs in the world. No organ builder today can even compete with this monumental instrument.
Yeah, I love it, too, although I don't live on the east coast anymore and haven't been there in years. I had no idea the state trumpet was out of commission for such a long time. Are they ever going to bring it back again?
The State Trumpets were taken out in mid-late 2013 for surveying and masonry work to the West End of the Cathedral. There is no schedule yet for when they will be back, it could be a while...
I love this majestic and magical place and the great organ. Dorothy Papadakos graciously allowed me to play it a bit just after a service - the sound is amazing - this is what heaven needs to be like. Whatever your faith you'll be moved experiencing a service here and the organ music!
The way this big organ in a generous acoustics can handle Bach's music is really impressive. It says a lot about the musical value of those instruments.

The organ is the sound of the soul

Good to see a young child exploring things an listening.
Thanks for this! I was at Saint-John the Divine last march and very impressed at his organ! Greetings from Belgium!

Also to be noted is Dr. Nagem's technique articulating for clarity in that vast space.
What a Sound!!! - Hopfully one day I will go there to play and experience that sound of a beast of an Organ! :-)
You should come to play it when the State Trumpets are reinstalled, then you can unleash the full power of the organ.
Yeah that would be cool! :-)
Loved the earthquake stop at 3:54! I think I soiled myself!
Lol me too!!!
Notice the dead note on the Tuba Major in Gigout's Grand Choeur Dialouge...21:30
Why? Instead notice what IS there...
I see that Raymond uses a Trompette and Clairon Harmonique to substitute the State Trumpet at 22:47
Also a Tuba Octave 4'.
Such power!
Love the Buxtehude !
its sad that the state trumpet s gone and that they have no indication they will be putting it back any time soon
It is sad, I really think it will be back within the next year or two.
@Richard Harrold I agree, and in my humble opinion the state trumpet doesn't even really sound so good.
The grand organ is supposed to be restored by the end of the year
Wow, great sound! What is specification of this instrument?
