Wonderful to hear this grand organ played so beautifully and accompanied with a delightful video of NY. Visited this great cathedral 10 years ago and was still out of action! A truly special video now bookmarked - thank you Martin!
I just stumbled across this . . I would dare say that I think that ol' 150A/B really likes you :) Most organists come and play her, and she dutifully blasts away for them, but they really miss 90% of the instrument's glory, which is in her sotto voce . . I'm going to be saving this to my collection :)
Martin, this video is SUPERB!!! Amazingly well done video editing, and gorgeous music indeed! Opus 150A is my all time favourite organ as I've played it for a graduation, Evensong, my brother's memorial service, and my father's funeral. I last played it in 2011 when the State Trumpet was still playable (I don't know what happened to that stop to render it unplayable...) and I loved it. Your playing was better than superb! Bravo to you sir and thanks! Cheers!
bhigdaddymark The State Trumpet was removed in late 2013 for emergency stone repairs over the Great Rose window. It wasn't reinstalled right away due to the stone repairs and the 2014 Phoenix exhibit in the Nave.
Probably the singular finest video of both NYC and CATHStJOHNsAeolianSkinnerOrgan I've seen to date. But what a final disappointment that the State Trumpets were not included. Thank you, nevertheless, Herr Kondziella for such a wonderful overall demonstration of so many registrations, individual special stops, i.e., the Clarinet, etc., the very expressive result of carefully planned use of swell shutters and so forth. I certainly hope this results in a CD being produced.

+Dale Rider, thank you very much! The state trumpet wasn't there at this time, because of some issues with the buiilding. I'm not sure, if it's back.
