Other topics all Americans can get behind needing innovation is the post office, but innovation could also come to government permitting, VA benefits, focus on innovating and driving us forward.
Great comment about inflation robbing the poorest and middle class.

So he is anti-federal government until it is convenient for his state. Buying ethanol is a federal program that is subsidized by you and me and requires millions of tons of petroleum based fertilizer to grow. It doesn't help the environment - it just puts a lot of pressure on our land and planet. Yes it makes small towns richer - good for them - but this guy should be against ethanol, but appears to be a hypocrite.

Doug, I just watched your interview with Stephanopoulos. Good grief! You failed to answer every question he asked you! You were on his show, not the other way around! You're a perfect politician. Never answer the question and always deflect and try to create your own narrative. You will loose, bigly.

He says all he thinks a president should be concerned about is the economy, national security and foreign policy. But then he signs a 6 week abortion law in his state and can't explain why. He says he signs any bills his republicans come up with. And guess he doesn't the problematic history of 'states rights'. Because he doesn't care about anything but the economy, national security and foreign stuff. He did say one thing I agree with you reveal who you are by the company you keep. The one thing that is lost on the presumably non racists part of trump's support.

The abortion bill was passed by a veto-proof legislative branch. Whether he signed it or not, it would have passed through overriding his veto. Plus, the only abortion clinic in the state decided to move across the border to Minnesota after the Dobbs decision.

@@allen7986 North Dakota is a very conservative state and has been for a very long time. 76% of the population is conservative vs. 18% liberal. Anyone trying to govern in a liberal way would not last long here.
During the legislative session either 4 or 6 years ago (they only meet in odd years), Burgum vetoed a bill that would have restricted bathroom access to transgenders in schools. He did it because there were only 1 or 2 documented students that identified as such and he felt that it was unfair to make a law based on such a small number of people that it would apply to. He left it up to the school districts to determine the best path for those students.
He tends to stay out of social issues, leaving them up to as local of jurisdictions as possible. For example, during the pandemic, counties and cities passed mask mandates. We only had statewide mandates form Nov 15-Jan 15, the height of our case counts. The only business restrictions we had were for them to cut down on occupancy capacity by half. He did not dictate what businesses were 'essential' and left it up to the owners to determine if they wanted to open or not. Our schools were open for the 2020-2021 school year with the option of online if the students/parents chose that rather than in-person.
He has been innovative with expanding industries to the state. We have a strong energy sector with coal and wind power, oil and natural gas drilling, and ethanol. We also have one of the largest percentages of land dedicated to wildlife/wetland refuges in the country. We have some of the strictest environmental laws in the country.
As long as we continue with the unflattering terms used to discredit everything either side has to say rather than really listening to each other, we will never find ground where we can agree or compromise. You never know, a conservative may have some pretty good ideas, but you have to be able to listen.

@@brendazorn4592 All that would be well and good if burgum's party was transforming into a militant non-conservative apocalyptic far right trump party that rejects democratic norms. A party that trashes law enforcement just because they want to hold one man accountable. Abolish the 14th amendment that, among other things, established black people's citizenship in the u.s. Ban books and teaching historical truths based on established facts because they are not patriotic and makes some people uncomfortable. Forget how uncomfortable those facts were to the people who suffered through them and still loved the country. Not to mention a segment of your party that wants to accommodate Putin and weaken NATO alliances. If burgum is talking conservatism a la Ronald Reagan, George bush, John McCain he will not find it in today's republican party.

I think it should be investigated if the state now and then is legislated with the Bible written as a story. The word immunity (Latin immunitas, freedom from obligations to the state) comes from a religious revelation from the middle ages, most likely from a pope to become lawless, and which has since been rewritten into sovereign, absolute, and qualified immunity (legally, cannot be prosecuted for the criminal act) to the governor, government, senator (origin, the Roman Empire), congress, cabinet, and Supreme Court for law decisions and actions. The political exploitation of the vital ecosystem has led to forest death, how it will affect people's economy, etc?
Furthermore, I think the Democratic Party can be a consciously misleading party name with all parties belonging to the Republican Party, as current political democracy and socialism can only be about going more toward the middle, eg. the Democratic Party for law decisions and actions, even with the misleading word professional politician.
I also think the people should consider voting for a real democratic party with an independent state formation to investigate if the governor, governments, senator (origin, the Roman Empire), congress, cabinet, and Supreme Court overall may be guilty of a violation of democratic rights with misleading elections, serious economic crimes, violation of human rights with class society for adults and children, and serious environmental crime (force majeure).
