- Skate stoppers are an unfortunate reality for skaters, but if you live in Southern California, you now have a masked hero who is alleviating these pains by unknobbing spots all across Los Angeles County for skaters to enjoy.
The Knob Buster, as he’s known, prefers to stay anonymous, but he’s still actively sharing his handiwork with the skate world via social media. He’s got an Instagram account cataloging the spots he’s freed up, and you can even tag posts on Instagram with #calltheknobbuster to let him know of a spot you think deserves to be freed from its shackles. Chances are he might make your dreams come true.

Get a high visibility vest and a clipboard. Scuff up and dirty the vest, jumper, and hard hat so you can look like a city employee. Try to get the same gear as the city uses so you can look like you're doing something for the city

As a qualified welder here are some tips for better & quicker results.
1: Use a thin 1.6mm (1/16") cutting disc & not a thicker cutting disc shown (2.5mm or 3/32") to cut the knob off
& finally
2: Use a 36 grit sanding disc with a hard backing pad to remove the high spots &. to blend in to the parent material.

He usually does paint a lot of the rails, at least from what I see on IG
Plus when u skate it you wax it all up and the paint from the bottom of your board gets on the spot and if your doing grinds it just takes the paint right off. So it really doesn't matter.
The owners would still notice it would be a waste of money

Paint it after so it’s less noticeable when the owner shows up, also after a skate session. The devil is in the details and can get a way with it longer than one weekend that way.

Even a cheap grinder will cost you $60, and cutting wheels are about $4 each and get chewed up pretty quickly.

Pls come to atl everything is skate stopped here, at my local park there is a hand rail that literally has knobs on it, it’s not like it’s there for it to be more fun and like challenging, it’s like impossible to skate.

In CA theyre just throwing tons of sand in the skateparks. Dumb as hell. I dont think they really planned on how to remove it, thise bowls and stuff usually have some kind of drainage, now it's full of sand. Should have just plugged up the drains and used water. Now kids are taking their little pit bike dirtbikes and shredding the parks hahaha.
Keilan Davidson the park is fourth ward, if you look at all of the rails on the five stair, two of the handrails have knobs
cxryptキマ the street scene in atl is great, but they have been slowly trying to make it harder to skate, like the at&t building used to be an incredible spot, but they recently re-did it and know it’s pretty much unskateable. Downtown has some perfect spots, but you have a good chance of there being a pretty large amount of skaters at most spots

i'm a handrail crafter for many years and i want to point some things out for making it perfect (optional)
- don't grind straight at windows
- clean the dust after grinding specially on white tiles or other delicant shit, because it will turn to rust and that's nasty
- paint/spray over that grinded area so it will be protected by oxidation

My buddy who most of you would know from filming professional for years got stopped for doing this, and he had to go to “ANGER MANAGEMENT”! Yes it was court ordered. Skate tickets didn’t exist so it’s normally for trespassing or vandalization.

agreed! why not go to a skate park or something? why do it on city/private property? is it skate culture to be this way? Plus he's taking off welded on caps. If a private business owner had these professionally done which it seems like, this could cost upwards of $45/hr or in some cases $/inch of weld including roots pass, filler, and cap and material used like the steel caps. So it's better to destroy private property, which if caught this person could be billed for every single "knob" he removed, and costs of repairs and jail time, all so homies can skate where they are not wanted and probably a nuisance

I once had a big crash on a mountain bike track because they added a random bolder in the middle of track all of a sudden. Anyway in my crash video I said I'm going to get rid of the rock, anyway I had people threatening legal action on me, telling the forestry people on me it was mad. For a fucking rock. Sometimes stuff just needs to disappear and no one would even realise.
