How I interpret the story in the "Blue" MV is it's all about the struggles Onew has gone through over the years and how he is searching for a "sense of belonging". If you remember, SHINee's official symbol and lightstick is a diamond, and that's the official symbol for this song and album -- a diamond with 5 faces. If you hold SHINee's lightstick up to a solid surface you will see the reflection the diamond makes is a five point star, with each point representing one of the members. SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua blue/green. So the blue light he refers to in the lyrics is talking about SHINee's blue light that represents the fans and the members and everything to do with them as a group. The story that was told is that he was extremely drunk, to the point where he couldn't even stand without help, and while trying to stand he grabbed the girl's leg. She eventually dropped the charges, but the police still investigated. Onew spent several months in seclusion, out of the public eye during the investigation and it wasn't clear whether the Korean public would ever forgive him or allow him to come back. However, he was eventually cleared of all charges after paying a large fine, etc.. And just when it looked as though SHINee would be able to get back to normal activities again, it wasn't long after that that Jonghyun died. Onew's birthday is Dec.14 (Onew will be 31 this year) and Minho's birthday is Dec. 9 -- Jonghyun died Dec. 18, 2017. So as you can see a lot happened in the span of 2 years, so "Blue" reflects on all of that. There are 3 fish floating in a protective glass bubble which I see as representing the 3 remaining members -- Minho, Key and Taemin -- which Onew feels like he needs to protect as the leader and oldest of the group. The white rose is also in a box, and some say it represents the fans and how by putting them in a protective case Onew is saying how precious the fans are to him and how he wants to protect them.
The shooting star, represents many things -- his family, his members and fans, etc. --- that are guiding him back home, after his scandal were he lived isolated. But then you see the shooting star make a path directly to where he was standing, which lit up his path and allowed him to see again. The star also provided light to the diamond once again, which helped Onew finally find his way back home. Back to a place where he is starting to feel safe, accepted and loved once again. He put the diamond on the table, and in its reflection there was shown 5 diamonds. If you notice one of them is blurry ... but even though you can't see all 5 of them clearly anymore, they are still 5. I also see the fact that in the end when he puts the diamond back on the pedestal it's almost as if he is saying he is putting the fans and his members and everyone that is precious to him, etc. on a shelf for safe keeping while he is away in the military and he will be back for us once again when he comes back. I think in the end what he is saying is that he has finally accepted everything and is starting to come to terms with it all. However, he is still not 100% OK or happy yet, but he is slowly getting there. It's the power of the light that is produced by the 'diamond" -- which represents the power from the fans -- that has helped him to find his place in this "Blue" world and to come to terms with everything. That's just a little bit of what I took away from this MV, but I know there is so much more that can be discovered from it and so much more meaning behind every detail. We could probably go on for days analyzing everything and come up with multiple meanings for it all. :D Onew did pretty well with this song and album, he received some pretty good feedback for his first solo debut, and we wouldn't expect anything less from a member of SHINee. :D i am so proud of him!! The joke within the fandom is that Minho's first solo album will probably be named "Race" because of his well known love of sports and his need to always win and to always push himself to be the best. The members have said the reason why they deliberately name their albums in this way is to show everyone that no matter what they do they are always a group and SHINee is very important to them. Lol Onew is about 31 years old (onew is the oldest and the leader of shinee) Shinee isn't that young. They are all 25 and above lol I was dying 🤣. Shinee still be looking like little kids. "Blue" is the main theme of the album "Voice" and it is a ballad that speaks of the deepest feelings of finding oneself. It is an extremely personal and sincere work, and because it has many symbols it ends up being difficult to interpret. But that's for me being an artist, expressing your deepest feelings and turning them into something beautiful and worthy of admiration.
The mv was inspired by the movie called “mother” by Darren aronofsky. But the general storyline of the mv is about loneliness and the diamond he takes is to restart the day to fix mistakes and make things better

Actually Onew released BLUE as title to his FIRST SOLO ALBUM VOICE last 2018, same time he enlisted in the army. And he was already 29/30 years old that time (far from the 20-ish you thought his age 😅😅). He looks soo young!!

Btw this is from his album Voice which was released just prior to his enlistment in military. Note: the members first solo album names sound alike: Ace (Taemin), Base (Jonghyun), Voice (Onew), Face (Key). Taemin even joked that Jonghyun plagarized his Ace album and Jonghyun said yes he did because it's all connected. The other member seemed to have done that too. Shows they still have each other in mind even when they do their solo work.

When SHINee debuted in 2008, the members were aged 14(Taemin) - 18(Onew), which was unusually young for a new kpop group. It's been 12 years since then so they're not that young anymore, but it often feels that way because they started so early.
You should check the lyrics. Its beautiful. Anyway according to fans interpretation of the mv, it about him,Shinee and family. 1. The diamond represent SHINee's symbol which is diamond & their lightstick is a shape of diamond. 2. There are 5 mirrors & if u notice 1 of them is kinda dusty which people assume that is representing Jonghyun (one of the member that passed away) 3. The harrassment thing was really just an accident when he was in a pub, he tripped and landed on a certain girl who accused him. But later on cleared Onew as well. At the beginning of the video you see one diamond that's reflecting in the mirror to make five diamonds. This represents the 5 members. The song is about what he went thru in 2017 there was an incident that onew went through a scandal that caused alot of people to want him removed from the group. When everything was settled people judged him. That was what the big people were about. Standing over him judging him with there eyes closed. Then losing jonghyun shortly after that. My leader one of the best voices in the World with his brother , he is one of my Bias with Jonghyun and for a good reason, was his voice in Minho drama with the song *In your Eyes* that made me look for SHINee and the first song that I watch was Symptoms and the first voices tole my heart as well and that was Jonghyun and untill today I never was able to choose, for me Onew and Jonghyun voices are in the same plan are different but powerfull at same time, about Onew He was 28 almost 29 at that time, the MV was relese on 5th of December and his birthday was 14 h mean 9 days before his birthday. Blue as an MV was literally about capturing the feeling of being "blue" as in sadness/loneliness. "Blue" is the main theme of the album "Voice" and it is a ballad that speaks of the deepest feelings of finding oneself. It is an extremely personal and sincere work, and because it has many symbols it ends up being difficult to interpret. But that's for me being an artist, expressing your deepest feelings and turning them into something beautiful and worthy of admiration.

Onew had experienced hard times at that time and Jonghyun was the big part. The 5 gems means 5 members of SHINee and the flying light in the sky is... you can guess. After this album, he enlisted the military.

Btw this is from his album Voice which was released just prior to his enlistment in military. Note: the members first solo album names sound alike: Ace (Taemin), Base (Jonghyun), Voice (Onew), Face (Key). Taemin even joked that Jonghyun plagarized his Ace album and Jonghyun said yes he did because it's all connected. The other member seemed to have done that too. Shows they still have each other in mind even when they do their solo work.

Onew is 30 now. He was about 27-28 when this came out! They all look like lil babies though. I need to look into their skin care regime for sure! (Too late for me, I'm old). And the lyrics? DEEP for sure. "This Blue night, something calls me from afar, is it light or is it darkness?"

Onew was a week from turning 29 when this MV was released. He's just very baby faced lol. When SHINee debuted in 2008, the members were aged 14(Taemin) - 18(Onew), which was unusually young for a new kpop group. It's been 12 years since then so they're not that young anymore, but it often feels that way because they started so early.

You should check the lyrics. Its beautiful. Anyway according to fans interpretation of the mv, it about him,Shinee and family.
1. The diamond represent SHINee's symbol which is diamond & their lightstick is a shape of diamond.
2. There are 5 mirrors & if u notice 1 of them is kinda dusty which people assume that is representing Jonghyun (one of the member that passed away)
3. The blindfolded people are those who blindly judging him due to his scandal (he was accused of sexual harassment in aug 2017 which made him took time off from any SHINee activity & step down from his role in a new drama) which later on proven to be innocent.
4. The 3 fishes in the protective glass represent the remaining members (Key,Minho & Taemin) while the rose in the other glass might represent Jonghyun or his fans not sure about that. As the leader & the oldest of the group he wants to protect his members.
5. The shooting stars represent support from his family, friends and fans guiding him back from his scandal after being on hiatus for months. He was following the light until something happened. (Jonghyun's death due to depression)
6. The giant blindfolded people represent the hate & judgement growing & blaming him for what happend to Jonghyun.
7. At the end, he found the light from the shooting star again to find his way back. SHINee named with the meaning receiving light from fans.
However, this might not be accurate because he never elaborate this video & it just from fans interpretation. Also, despite having a great vocals & this is his first solo album he didn't promote it much as this was his gift before enlistment. His face never really change his he debut but he was 28/29 years old when he did the mv 🤣. He is known as the fake maknae (little brother/youngest)
The harrassment thing was really just an accident when he was in a pub, he tripped and landed on a certain girl who accused him. But later on cleared Onew as well.

At the beginning of the video you see one diamond that's reflecting in the mirror to make five diamonds. This represents the 5 members. The song is about what he went thru in 2017 there was an incident that onew went through a scandal that caused alot of people to want him removed from the group. When everything was settled people judged him. That was what the big people were about. Standing over him judging him with there eyes closed. Then losing jonghyun shortly after that. So this is onews song about his struggles. So beautiful! And very sad the lyrics are also amazing. Thank you Gwavy for bringing us such a gift.

My leader one of the best voices in the World with his brother , he is one of my Bias with Jonghyun and for a good reason, was his voice in Minho drama with the song *In your Eyes* that made me look for SHINee and the first song that I watch was Symptoms and the first voices tole my heart as well and that was Jonghyun and untill today I never was able to choose, for me Onew and Jonghyun voices are in the same plan are different but powerfull at same time,
about Onew He was 28 almost 29 at that time, the MV was relese on 5th of December and his birthday was 14 h mean 9 days before his birthday.

Blue as an MV was literally about capturing the feeling of being "blue" as in sadness/loneliness. This ballad I believe was about the harsh things that SHINee went through, especially him as a leader. How he was putting the blame on himself for the things that happened.
The MV was very metaphorical, and theories says that the people with blindfolded eyes/without hearts symbolizes the harsh and mean comments thrown at him. The rose was Jonghyun, and the fishes inside the balloon/bubbles are the remaining members that he wanted to protect (Key, Minho, and Taemin). The diamond was SHINee and shawols, his home and reason to continue in his journey as an artist. FUN FACT: Onew was 29 in this mv hahaha. Thank you, Gwavy!
