    What product can I use to create a medium like---" Gel nail polish" that nail artists use!
    I have tried a few things in Mixing mediums to create this "Gel Nail Polish" -- this does not need to be exact, close would be good!
    This is NOT going on a canvas, my project is on miniature statue type statues that are no more than 5 inches tall!
    Any product or mixing of medium products, that would close to "Gel Nail Polish" type viscosity would be greatly appreciated!!

      Hello Yakkyuu, I'll have to look into gel nail polish to understand exactly what you're looking for. Very interesting question - you can always take those directly to our product support team: help@goldenpaints.com for answers.

    Something I have noticed and the reason I gravitate to oils, is the addition of mediums, especially enough to make heavy body fluid, changes the wet color due to the milkyness of the medium. Airbrush and high-flow mediums are the thinnest so ,it seems, they would work the best and change the wet color the least. The transparent gloss mediums all dry clear so your color goes back to the mass color. Am I wrong about this?

      Thank you for your question. Golden Acrylic paints, gels, and mediums contain binders which are white in liquid form but clarify when they dry. For this reason, they all have a color shift when drying. Paint will become slightly darker, and the gels and mediums will become more transparent or translucent depending upon sheen and application thickness. The change is less dramatic in the paints since the pigment helps to obscure the whiteness of the wet binder. It is possible to become used to the change and compensate for it while painting without being consciously aware of doing so.
      Any dilution or extension of Heavy Body paints will increase transparency and decrease color saturation which can be visible once the paint dries. Water is the quickest way to thin Heavy Body without adding the temporary increase in whiteness caused by adding a medium or gel. Because they contain no matting agents, gloss mediums will dry the most clear. Adding a 1:1 mix of distilled water and a thin gloss medium like GAC 100 or High Flow Medium provides an in-between color change, more than water alone but less than products like Gloss Medium. Airbrush Medium is loaded with retarding agents to slow down drying and so has less binder and potentially less color change; however, because it has less binder, we would not recommend adding more than 2 parts Airbrush Medium to 1 part Heavy Body. Please email help@goldenpaints.com if you have more questions.

    I am a student and am still learning, my question is Can I use Open Thinner to thin out my heavy body paints to resemble or to work like Fluid Paints? Have a few of fluid paints but I need to buy many more therefore the question more financially related I guess, I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!

    • @GoldenPaints
      @GoldenPaints  6 месяцев назад +1

      OPEN Thinner can be used to thin Heavy Body paints to some extend. We recommend adding maximum 25% of OPEN Thinner to paints. You can start thinning with OPEN Thinner by eye balling 1 part OPEN Thinner to 3 parts Heavy Body paint, then continue thinning with distilled water. The OPEN Thinner will increase the working time of the paint mixture. If you prefer fast drying acrylics, then just use distilled water, or blend water with one of the mediums to thin your Heavy Bodies: GAC 100, GAC 500, GAC 800, High Flow Medium, Gloss Medium, Fluid Matte Medium or Color Pouring Medium Gloss or Matte.

    I want to use your tube acrylics paint for miniatures but I do not get the good texture with medium /thinner. Any advise? And does it work in airbrush ? Thx

    • @GoldenPaints
      @GoldenPaints  16 дней назад

      The Heavy Body acrylics can be sprayed, but first thin with water to house paint consistency, soften a little at a time to minimize bubbles, then add 1 part diluted paint to 1 part Airbrush Medium. That should prepare them to spray through most airbrushes. If you've tried this method and still have questions, please send us a note at help@goldenpaints.com - we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

    What is the difference between Golden Acrylics in a jar and those in a tube?

    • @GoldenPaints
      @GoldenPaints  5 месяцев назад +1

      As long as you are looking at the same paint line across tubes and jars, there is no different except the size of the container. GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics are available in tubes (2 and 5 oz.) and jars (4 , 8, 16, and 32 oz.), and OPEN Slow-Drying Acrylics are available in tubes (2 and 5 oz.) and jars (8 and 32 oz.). SoFlat Matte Acrylics are also available in jars (2, 4, and 16 oz.). Fluid and High Flow Acrylics are both available in bottles due to their thinner viscosity - bottles are available in a variety of sizes.

    You mentioned that mixing with distilled water would be a one to one ratio. Does that apply to the mediums as well?

    • @GoldenPaints
      @GoldenPaints  Год назад +1

      Our High Flow Medium is a similar consistency to water, but slightly thicker so you could do a 1:1 or start with 2 parts paint to 1 part medium and add more if needed. For a more resinous medium like Gloss Medium you could do a 1:1 or do the same 2:1 as a start and adjust from there. You can always add more Medium, but if you over shoot, you may not want to add more paint if you are trying to conserve materials. We hope this helps!

    Whats is the recipe for golden heavy body paints in the tube( got them at a great price) but. I dont kniw the ratios between paint, pouring medium,floetrol,water. I thought heavy body paints would use less paint to more mediums then loonie store paint. My first attempt was too thin and paints just muddied. Thanks for your help.

    • @GoldenPaints
      @GoldenPaints  6 месяцев назад

      We recommend thinning the Heavy Body paints with water first to about house paint consistency. To do this, add a small bit of water at a time and gently fold into the color. Then once it has been thinned, add it to the Color Pouring Medium about 1 part paint to 10 parts medium. That should be a good start for any general purpose poring technique. Let mixtures stand in a covered container over night in order to release bubbles before pouring. For future reference, the Heavy Body and Fluid colors have the same pigment concentration, but Fluids are much easier to use for pouring techniques. If you have additional questions, you can reach our Materials & Applications Specialists directly at help@goldenpaints.com.
